Hi Vicky, How kind of you to ask. Yes, I am. Sadly, he had to go and live with my son’s father because he couldn’t manage the boat steps any more. He’s doing ok, though I haven’t been able to see him for a couple of months because of lockdown, but as soon as that finishes he’s coming over to visit. x
The vast majority of anglers we encounter are always pleasant and happy to pass the time of day but, inevitably, there are a few grumpy so-and-sos who seem to begrudge boats using the waterways. Hope his worm turned and the fish laughed.
@Andrew Ecob I love that you have sympathy for the maggots as well as me. 😆 I had them everywhere, in my hair in my boots, in my pockets ... It wasn’t a good day up until that point. Luckily, it got better.
Yes, the odd thing is that the grumpy anglers think they own the canals, they seem to forget why the canals were built, it certainly wasn't to hold fishing competitions.
It was in 2007 that Peter, Marion and I cruised the Monty after our return trip to Llangollen. So this brings back wonderful memories. Back then, the Monty terminated at the Navigation Inn where we moored and had a wonderful dinner. We were tired and spent the next day there. The real reason for that was having a second dinner at the Inn. The ceilings in the dining room were just above my head and I'm 5 foot 7 inches but the waiter for both dinners was a tall bloke... probably 6 foot 2 inches or better! He had his "suitably bowed" for his Canadian Narrowboat guests... dang! Must have been the ceiling. But the service and the food was superb! Probably the best Lamb I've ever had. That night we moored just before Frankton Junction before heading for Ellesmere. Many thanks for these videos! I'm sending this video to Marion, who, sadly these days in senior care at the coming age of 93.
5 AM. Woke to the call of nature and decided the fires needed stoking. A nice surprise to have a canal trip at the same time.. thanks for taking us along.
Great to see you back on our screen Andrew. All u tube channel volgers like yourself have mammoth tasks in editing and producing your works for us to see. I thank you and all the others I watch for the pleasure and enjoyment you give me. Keep safe, dry and virus free.
Thanks David. Yes sometimes editing can take up to 15 hours! This one was quite tricky because I had nearly 3 hours of footage to reduce to 18 minutes.
@@vickijohnson4668 horror indeed. Plus 40,minus 40, I'm glad to live in England (and Wales). Narrowboats exaggerate the ambient temperature, I think I'd expire in those conditions. Soak your clothing and stay cool...

Another corker Skip. Very relaxing and informative with the usual quality photography. Keep your sheet bends tight and your bowlines buffed. Take care Hutch & Hove to.
Enjoyed the trip down the 'Monty' It's been a few years since we were on there, (couldn't get as far as you did. Also remember back in early 80s you could only get as far as the top gate, from the Llangollen. Happy cruising and keep your feet dry.
Hi Andrew You two look like the Slag Brothers from The Wacky Races. How about a haircut now that lockdown is over? Don't worry about fishermen. They are strange creatures with few communication skills. Ask yourself why they chose to spend long hours in solitude on the bank of a river or canal. Jeff
Well The Slag Brothers is a new one to go with Noel Edmunds, James May, and one of the hairy bikers. I think this is the most complimentary of them all. Lockdown maybe over but the pandemic isn't, and why would I want a haircut? Actually, I cut my own since the first lockdown, that way I can get it how I prefer not how some hairdresser thinks it should be. But thanks for the tonsorial advice Jeff!
I'm a keen angler. It's plain wrong to leave lines out then moan. Bloody fool. As always great video look forward to seeing more of your travels 👍
I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts.
I demand to have some booze!
We want the finest wines available to humanity. We want them here, and we want them now!

They are the most brazen of flowers (but they probably have the most fun). You too x
what a beautiful stretch of canal - thank you
Possibly one of the remotest stretches of canal in the UK, and all the more beautiful for it
Alternative episode title: “Lock water defies gravity!” Another great episode!
Haha well spotted!

Yes Andrew most are fine. Kathy has had a catapult of maggots fired at her even though she was travelling at tick-over!
@@talesfromtheswansneck wow, that's awful! Poor Kathy and poor maggots! Time to build that revolving gun turret in the roof methinks!

Thanks Derek. I wish the pub had been open, but at the time of filming they were still all shut. I hope it brings happy memories to Marion.

You have a unique style we enjoyed the trip thank you
Best review of the Monty I've seen Andrew. Thank you.
Merry Christmas Andrew all the best from Chris
Many thanks Chris, and happy Christmas to you. And keep an eye out, new video coming soon!

Where did that sunshine go?

I did enjoy it. I see Henry goes to the same hairdresser as his dad. Keep well.

Cheers Hutch. Buffing the bowlines?! Thant's a new one on me. Sounds like a complete waste of my precious time! Take care up there in Toonland.

Liking the withnail and I uncle monty reference😀
I was wondering how many people would spot it. You are the second so far.
Thank you 👍🏻
Is "Uncle Monty" a reference to same in 'Withnail and I'? Great film & character. Love the Blog Andrew, keep it up.
I did wonder how many people would reference the iconic film. I promise I had been nowhere near a Camberwell Carrot when I came up with the title.
Anglers pah!
Was it your disgruntled angler who "disliked" your video, I wonder?
Who knows. I usually get four dislikes, I wonder if it's the same 4 people every episode...
