My personal experience is that the Chinese people who live here (whether from Hong Kong, SE Asia or China, etc) do not generally want to buy a house that needs work mainly because they do not want the hassle and they are also generally lacking in DIY skills. Most of my British friends do not mind a bit of work. Actually our own experience is that one big reason why these houses come on market is because of death of the elderly owners. Their children do not want to take on the work and rather sell it on the cheap (sometimes so not to exceed the inheritance tax threshold).

英國人有自己不同的sense 和style, 而且好多還有DIY 基本技術。如果花一大筆錢去裝修去賣屋，我覺得不智，簡單油漆、作basic清潔已經足夠。將裝修的費用省下來，賣價會低一點，更有吸引力。舊樓也未必殘舊和貴，還要視乎區分、年期。
