This song comes in a sequence of songs purandara composed called, "pūjōpacāra padagaḷu" which are rendered to accompany the latter-half of the pūjā ritual wherein certain ceremonial offerings are dedicated to the deity. The offerings and accompanying songs are organized somewhat in this order: naivēdyava koḷḷō nārāyaṇa svami (nivēdana-dedication of cooked food), palahāravanu māḍu(palahāra-offering of fruits), tāmbūḷava kōḷḷō (tāmbūḷam-offering of betel leaf and areca nut), dhūpāratiya (dhūpam, dīpam, rājōpacāram-waving of fragrant incense, lamps and regal symbols), tūgidaḷē raṅgana/jō jō sādhuvaṁdha (jōlā hāḍu-lullaby to put the deity to sleep) , gōkulābdhicandra (mēlukoluppu-rousting the diety from slumber), and makuṭakē maṅgaḷam (maṅgaḷam-benediction), and śrīpatiyu namage (āśīrvāda pada-securing the blessings of deities, guru-s etc.).
The late MLV has rendered this piece in pūrvikalyāṇi but Smt. Sudha's version is no less melodious. Keep it up, @Smt Sudha Ragunathan!
