  • Putting on the 48" snow blade. Haven't had much snow at all this year. Would be faster to use the blade when we do get snow than the snowblower. In an earlier video years back I made a downforce bar. I will link to that in my video.

    The front pulley for the mower comes off the same way the mower deck does. It's called a mule drive. Just push the metal rod and it will come off.

    There's beauty in simplicity! I took my deck off and oiled it but I haven't put the blower on because it hasn't snowed enough to use it lol! Great video!

      I hear you, we just picked up 3" the other day, most we've had all year. I'm probably going to run the gas out of my snowblower because it's not getting used. Save the carb from getting gunked up.

    Over the summer I picked up a 520 like yours. I haven't driven yet but working on it. Starter mounts on the bottom of the cylinder are broken off. Didn't know you could pull the deck from the pto side. I pull them from the flywheel side to keep the mower height adjuster from getting hung up.

      @CraigArndt  6 років тому

      I pull it from either side, usually the side that gives me enough room to get it out. Its super easy though!

    I had a 60” deck on my 520xi. The manual has instructions for installation and removal of that deck but you have to move the steering wheel so many times you might as well lift the front with a floor jack. Well over 200 pounds you should get help wrestling with that huge 60” deck unless you are a strong healthy person. I put that 60” deck up for sale several winters ago and one day in January I had a bidding war between guys in Winona Mn, Milwaukee, New Jersey and some guy east of Chicago. I got $600 for it but possibly could have gotten $700. Having had every 5xi deck but the 44” my favorite is the 52”.

    Put a primer bulb on the fuel line for easier starts.
    Did it on my Onan P220 and starts real quick…

  • @Buckwsr

    Do you think that long crank time before starting is due to the fuel pump taking its good ol' time getting gas to the carburetor? I'm toying with the idea of adding an electric pump that only runs with the key in the crank position.

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  2 роки тому

      Yes, that’s definitely part of it. Since I put a new battery on last year, it cranks the engine over better and I don’t have long starts. Long as you have good vacuum, the pump moves a lot of gas.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr 2 роки тому

      @@CraigArndt Thanks. I have a 520H, and a 416-8 with a kohler engine. That's the one that seems to crank forever. The 520H with the Onan is not nearly as bad.

    Nice to have the hydraulics to lift the blade ..I have not had enough snow to push so far this season ..The storms have been going south of me several times this winter it has done that

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  6 років тому

      We've had no snow all year except for a few inches the other day. Been a kinda boring winter season, I can't even ice fish, no ice! Hydraulics are nice, they work in the cold now because I switched to full synthetic. Regular 10w30 just locks up and nothing works until it warms up.

    Do you know anything about changing the hydraulics for the plow mine stopped working need to figure out how to get it changed before the snow

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  2 роки тому

      I don't know what you mean by changing the hydraulics. If the lift stopped working, you need to check the hydraulic cylinder for leaks, I have videos on that. Or, you have a leak somewhere and low fluid.

  • @WildHorsesOfCourse

    I'd highly recommend the downforce lift link, it's a lot better especially for compacted snow or ice like you have on your driveway. A new wear bar is about $40, NBD. I know a guy that makes them laser cut with the square bolt holes if you need one shoot me a message.

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  6 років тому

      I made my own down pressure bar years ago for my 416-8 and still use it. Since I don’t have weights any longer and my chains don’t fit my ags, down pressure would make me sit and spin.

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  4 роки тому

      Rear bracket for the rear end? I bought mine on ebay, guy on there makes them. He also makes the front hitch to tow trailers, that's been a great tool for the tractor. Wheelhorsepartsandmore on ebay. He makes the stuff and its great quality. I'd bet if you contacted him, he'd probably make that handle. Small shop guy, uses beefy steel. I've bought a bunch of stuff from him.
