Sea turtles - A life of social detachment

  • Sea turtles are not social animals. Adults never meet or care for their hatchlings, they do not form groups to migrate, and although many species aggregate at specific sites to feed, for example, coastal areas in the case of the green turtle, individuals do not interact with each other. However, during the nesting season, it is common to see males and females interacting during courtship and mating.
    Our monitored turtle, visited sites near the nesting beach, where she was found with other turtles and we even saw some males approaching her to court and try to mate.
