I have watched it 5 times already and have a rewatch every 6 months or so. And it's funny how every new viewing of the film has something new for me that I had not quite paid attention to in the previous watch.
it is rewatchable bro. the one who finds this movie boring or some same shit, didnt actually understand the deep meaning behind it or doesn't understand what life and filmmaking is
@@starplatinumoraoraora this is the type of movie that separates the smart from the dumb. If people find this boring then have fun knowing which side you're on. Just letting you know that the movie makes fun of people who hate boring artsy movies and that this is what everything is devolving into.
@@TheBasaltHorogium No, that's always the same inappropriate elitism with this kind of movie. "You're not smart enough to understand and enjoy it". Whatever the intended message of the film director, it's still boring from a spectator viewpoint. The problem of this movie is not because it's not an actual superhero blockbuster movie (though there was a room for a different kind from Marvel and DC) It's just neither touching, dramatic, thrilling nor funny. There is nothing to see, it's just pretentious. I like weirdness when it's properly done. Some movies do that with success while others do not.
Edward Norton killed it. Bravo acting. Especially the chemistry between him and Michael Keaton. They gotta do more films together. That all the female actresses, crazy good. Oh and the cinematography , ridiculously good. The list goes on, great movie...I meant play, lol.
People need to understand that, from a public point of view, there will always be negative reviews towards Birdman. The reason why is because this is NOT a mass market film. Inarritu purposely directed this film towards the more niche of a film audience; the people that appreciate a different standard to modern film. The film is very ambitious and is very different to what films are traditionally seen as. Think about most of the films that are regarded as some of the best of all time, they're all very traditional. This film is extremely ambitious and it's nothing like anybody's seen before. Personally, I absolutely LOVE Birdman and I'm always a fan of these niche ideas for films, and I am glad it won Best Picture, but all the people that dislike it is no irregular occurrence as it's not meant to be directed to the mass market, hence why it was poorly advertised etc.
I haven't seen this movie yet but judging from the hate in the comments I think maybe that's what this movie was aiming for? To reflect to the audience what they expect from actors like Michael Keaton? I'm not a Keaton or Batman fan but I think part of the film's goal is to alienate the audience which in this day and age is kind of brilliant. Definitely gonna watch this.
elite gamr It's hard to call it a movie. It's more like a drag. Someone poisons you and drags through insanely boring events and dialogs that are just too hard to keep ones focus on. End result is emptying ones stomach contents into a bucket.
I followed this film through its last stages of production to the cinema and saw it in cinema and I loved it. Probably now on my list of favourite films. As soon as it was nominated I was pretty happy. I swear everyone goes mental when a film is nominated. Like, people suddenly criticise the film's slight mistakes or little things that they disliked about it, and it suddenly overpowers the film's overall greatness. Oh shit, and now it received the Oscar for Best Film. This is where all of these "critique"-like comments are coming from saying how bad the film was. Have you even seen it? Did you go to see it with an open mind? Do you understand the film's themes and the unique way it was filmed? Jesus Christ, people will give anything to put down a film that is nominated, just like actors and actresses nominated for an Oscar.
Who cares if you don't understand this movie? Filmgoers have seem to lost the idea of a good movie over the years. The highest grossing movie of 2014 was Transformers 4? COME ON PEOPLE! This movie was fantastic on so many levels. It had great writing, insightful look at today's entertainment world, and the acting was phenomenal. And hello? The whole one continuous shot effect? Genius and very hard to pull off.
well there once was a time when people had a general level of intelligence, those times have passed, and now ignorance is practiced and praised, the majority is now ignorant and we will never recover from it. I feel my generation was the last generation of intelligent, considerate, mature human beings as a whole. Every generation to come after is just a bunch of ignorant borderline useless assholes as far as I can tell not all but a good 98%. I blame the parents. I was the last generation to use a corded phone and play outside, the last generation to use a library for research. The last generation that was raised to be accountable and have integrity. The last generation before "entitled" became a common thing".
wait what transformers, instaed of i mean gone girl, whiplash, birdman ,interstellar, her, nightcrawler, gaurdians of the galaxy, boyhood, oh man we are shit
I love this movie and here's why. If you pay attention, it literally speaks to the audience. It indirectly breaks the fourth wall, especially during the 'Birdman' monologues. People who dislike this film more than likely want plot, action, CGI, or all three. To make a movie with little to none of those aspects while making it look as if it was done in one shot is sheer genius. Definitely deserved Picture of the Year and possibly actor for Keaton's performance (yes Gyllenhaal was purposefully snubbed; you can't just overlook his excellence in Nightcrawler). I've already said too much but if you're into art and theatre and excellent films, watch this! If you're not open-minded and need other things besides great story, cinematography, and acting, look elsewhere.
@@mayonnaise3959 You either not understand the movie or you really don't want to understand at all. This movie win best picture, best cinematography, best director, best writing and original screenplay at the Oscar. If you really love cinema, you will appreciate movies like this.
Why all the hate? "It's boring," yeah at some parts maybe. "It looks bad," what the actual fuck! Do you know how hard it is to make a 2 hour movie look like one continuous shot?! It looks great and felt almost like a play that doesn't end after the current drops."I didn't get," it's ambiguous, your supposed to question it and use your fucking brain for ones. Seriously, Oscar or not, fucking awesome movie, with great acting, beautiful cinematography, awesome soundtrack.
It's called an opinion. People have that you know, maybe you thought it was super awesome howdy-hoo, but not all of us did. I guess you're just ten times more sophisticated then the rest us plebeians who cannot possibly grasp the intricate plot and amazing development that went into this masterpiece. Not.
Best movie of 2014, by far, no questions asked. The cinematography is amazing, the acting is phenomenal (heck it's the only movie I've ever taken Zach Galifianakis seriously), the storyline is surprisingly great, and the musical score was outstanding. No amount of adjectives I can think of can justify how great this movie was, best movie of 2014.
Just because the movie is called "Birdman", that doesn't mean it's going to be filled with shootings and awful CGI with aliens. This movie shows you what life is really about in the eyes of a man who is severely depressed. He wants to show the world that he matters. The movie is not about a superhero, despite the name. It's actually really deep and yeah, you guys are dumb for thinking this movie is "boring".
Editing Is niice Calling other people dumb for not liking a movie is the most retarded shit one person can say ahahahah. And you’re sitting here thinking “Hmm well he’s got a point maybe art isn’t subjective huur duur” lmao
@@eternalblue4660 I think they are calling people dumb for not liking a movie based on criteria from a different genre. Which actually is kinda dumb. Also words do have definitions, and although some may not find the movie "interesting" that does not mean the movie is boring. If someone went into the movie thinking it had action, of course they would find it boring, but going into a romance/dark comedy movie and expecting anything else is truly dumb. Two genres that truly cannot be mistaken, romance and dark comedy. So sure, not personally enjoying the movie, thats fine, doesn't make you dumb. But calling the movie bad, thats pretty dumb.
So they are dumb for thinking people are dumb, but you are not dumb for thinking they are dumb? Do you realize how dumb you sound..oh wait you never stated you were not dumb, my bad.
Brian Cooksey Haha seriously though, you and your wife sound super lame. I'm generally fine with the fact people are entitled to their own opinions and i respect that, but in this case I've formed the opinion that you and your wife suck. Like really, neither of you found any value or entertainment from this film? That's sad and I hope you don't breed and have children with equally shitty tastes in movies.
Brian Cooksey I dislike people playing with their cellphones in the cinema. When everything is dark and some unconsidered person pulls out their cell to text it hurts my eyes, distracts from the movie and is just annoying. Rather walk out of the cinema if you don't like it. If you knew she wasn't having a good time, why didn't you leave the cinema with her? That doesn't mean the movie is terrible, it means you're a terrible date. What all these uncivil people are trying to tell you, talk to your wife, tell her it isn't cool and that she should be more selective on which movies she watches. I'm sure she'll understand and won't switch on her cell next time she's in the cinema. You guys are in luck; there are some generic mainstream block busters coming out soon and I'm sure you'll enjoy those movies much more than these kind of movies. I'm not saying that you are incapable of appreciating experimental cinema but that your taste in movies may be more orientated towards movies made for focus-groups.
Just watched it last night. All I can say is - brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, and I don't go throwing that word around loosely. The film hits perfect strides at every level -- direction, cinematography, acting, writing. It's a technical marvel and an astounding piece of work. It's raw, honest, and unpretentious. It is TRUE art, that doesn't pander to the critics. This is the film that Hollywood needed. It reminds the industry that there are still original ideas out there, that film isn't dead, but being repressed by commercialism. This is easily my top 5 favorite film -- EVER.
Fucking brilliant. I absolutely adored this movie. Great story with excellent writing and cinematography. Definitely one of the most artistic movies I've seen in a long while.
e d I seen you make another comment here about how you personally found this movie to be boring. Maybe you just can’t appreciate real cinema. This is supposed to be a brilliant clever satire for people who can THINK, not a conventional Hollywood action flick.
It's disappointing to see, from this comment section, how few people really understood this movie and enjoyed it. It seems like a majority didn't understand the subject matter, didn't try to, and then dismissed it. I feel bad for you all, you don't know what you're missing. Maybe it is just me, but this movie was breath taking to say the least. From it's incredible cinematography, to its mesmerizing performances from the actors, to the intricate and incredibly well done themes (which were also strangely meta). It might've been my favorite movie of this decade, and hopefully at least one other person reading this agrees.
The bad ratings this movie gets from the general public is the ultimate proof of the intellectual capacity (or lack of) that the average movie viewer has nowadays. Unless there's shooting, killing, people flying around in space suits, a shit ton of special effects that are there just for the sake of it and a story-line with a happy ending written so that a 5 year old could follow it, they don't like it. This is not supposed to be an action film or a story driven film. That's for those who say "nothing happens", by the way. Oh really? Nothing happens? Nothing except 2 hours of stunning soundtrack, basically perfect cinematography, pretty much filmed in one shoot (which is INCREDIBLY difficult) and excellent acting, with a very satirical story (most of you probably don't even know what satire is). I usually wouldn't do this, and I'm usually the guy who hates people who say what I'm about to say because it sounds arrogant, I hate the critics of contemporary art or people who say they see things that others don't just for the sake of making themselves look better, but in THIS CASE, I really have to stand on their side, because if you really think nothing happens in this movie, and don't see the quality of it, or full out hate it like a lot of people do, then I'm sorry, but you're simply stupid. I don't see any other explanation for why someone would HATE this movie. I get it if you don't love this movie, or even if you don't like it, but go to IMDB and 90% of people give it ONE star. ONE! That means that they have the lowest possible opinion of it, and I just CANNOT understand how someone would hate THIS PARTICULAR movie so much. I just don't understand how so many people would hate something that has so many very very obvious qualities that deserve a lot of credit. Just for the soundtrack, cinematography and acting, this movie deserves a 7,5 out of 10, even if you absolutely hate the rest of it. That's just a fact, it's not a matter of opinion. Just from a technical point of view, regardless of what actually happens in a movie, Birdman is a world class achievement and one of the best movies of the year in that regard, and anyone who disagrees is wrong. This is not even a matter of an opinion. I'll repeat again, in any other case, I'd hate and insult a person who'd say what I just said, but in THIS case, people are just pushing their unreasonable hate too far. And no, I'm not a fucking movie critic who likes the smell of his own farts, just in case someone accuses me of that, I'm a medical doctor, I have nothing whatsoever to do with the movie industry.
+derbigpr500 this movie has shit fucking cinematography, u call this fucking cinematography? it's just some idiot cheating shots to make it look like a single take, a fucking joke and a gimmick, any fucking amateur director can do this, shots are so ugly, there is no detailed depth to them
babel no lol. It was certainly very good and well made. Walk in the aprk for someone like Alejandro ;) revenant was fantastic in terms of cinematography and hard hitting moments like the ending and beggining scenes plusthe long hitchcock-like takes. Yes, ive seen rope.
This movie was phenomenal. But it makes you ponder a lot, long after you've watched it; people who only enjoy watching movies that are a complete pack of entertainment, that is, some emotion, some anger, some romance and action, and a straightforward ending, will find the movie confusing/piece of crap/bullshit.
***** Well, maybe it's got to do with some situations I've faced in my life; when you live a great life, people love you and want to share the joy. I lost my dad when I was 17, 5 years ago..and all of a sudden, people who I thought were very close to me, abandoned me. No sharing of grief this time. I had got stuck in my lovely past life, where I was a straight A student, and had such big dreams and ambitions..but all went downhill. I had let the negativity haunt me all this while, thinking that my life will suck forever. Then I watched this film a month back, and saw the lead character making the same mistakes, being passive-aggressive. It's after watching this, that I was able to let go of my past, and focus on what I have with me now. :)
James Kirkpatrick And he did. He could've died that night on the beach, but didn't. Instead he came back and was completely ignorant of doing so but subconsciously recognized his achievement in an odd and possibly unknowable way. He ended his life in peace, he'd been living to die the entire time but just wasn't ready until he'd forgotten why he hadn't tried again, to kill himself that is. So to say it in one sentence: He was trying to achieve a fantasy, but got the same reward nonetheless, through the more honorable approach as an actor and was completely ignorant of it, then upon subconsciously recognizing his achievement but in a way that was pure and unrelated fantasy.. He took his own life.
It's tough to say and I'm sure there's at least one lengthy explanation out there. Riggan's head was like a pressure tank, his death signified a peaceful release as opposed to how he was before becoming calm. One's left to assume that his daughter understood this. She might have been sure that it must have been what he needed because he'd survived the gunshot and was still ready to move on. She knew he died happy, and not self absorbed, but blissfully.
This is probably one of the greatest films ever created. I just want y'all to know that as a person in the film and theater industry this was the greatest 'fuck you' to the status quo that could ever be so ellegantly created. It was a perfect film. Hard to come by in these times.
+frinzer evan i realized people may be bashing up what i meant by the term intellectual. well the thing is i don't actually view this as a metaphorical represent of the hollywood or try to find deep meaning in it. It might be an over simplification but I simply viewed the movie as a representation of the emotion of a guy suffering from depression and anxiety. I love it because i can relate to in way since I know how anxiety can lead to hallucinations and stuff.
if its like u say, it would be legendary.. apart from that film, i think foreign, of a guy in a museum.. 2 hours long...1 shot...if this is a one shot film i would shit a brick
I don't know what wrong with people my age... Iam 15 and I adore this brilliant film. Excellent acting, great dialogue, best cinematography I've seen in any movie and the fact that the movie was filmed looking like if it was in 1 shot. Sorry but this is a 11/10 for me.
it'll take time for people at ur age to understand the movie. No need to harsh, sometime i just wish i could be like them at that ages, naive and wonderful. Time passed to people like u and me so quickly, we've seen shit, and each day we think about life and wish for lucks. It's more suffering than normal people.
RedBaronSurprisingly wew lad the only thing that you could resort is using my age as an argument. The number of goldies made 10-20 years ago can't even remotely be compared to new age cinematography. The standards have fallen and Directors now appeal to idiocy because it's cheaper and easier. Go watch Pi, Good will Hunting, The Shawshank Redemption, Citizen Kane, A beautiful mind, The machinist, etc. Maybe you'll enlighten yourself and you'll realize what a real movie is.
Birdman is definitely going to be favorite film of the year to many people. And its all set to be nominated in categories such Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. And it has high chances to win in categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Richard G I don't know how to react for your comment. As far as I remember you are the first and only person to say the Birdman's trailer is a garbage. You have no idea about Birdman's critical acclamation and sure going to be achieved commercial success.
why and how do people know this or gather this information? doesnt this show you that these awards are bought and paid for? Its all marketing and promotion. The statue means dick. Movie looks badass though!
Richard G I didn't particularly like the trailer either but if you look into some of the details of the movie its pretty clear that it will at least get nominations for Director, Cinematography, and Editing since it's meant to look like it was filmed in one take.
I love how divided opinion is on this film. It makes it all the more interesting to talk about. I just finished watching it for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It's smart, funny, and also very moving. The performances are all stellar, particularly Keaton's. The ending is certainly ambiguous (which I really liked) but this movie is far more than just its ending. If you haven't seen it yet, give it a shot. You might love it, you might hate it, it's hard to know -- but it's worth finding out.
People like to complain about the Oscars, and there's a reason for it. However, every now and then the Oscars DOES make good decisions. Birdman winning the Academy Awards is one of them.
When I first saw that movie in cinema I was like "Ok that was cool and trippy" and that's all. It's when I saw it for the second time one week ago and in english (I'm french so I saw it with french voice over at cinema) that I really realized how that movie was just awesome. Especially in the writting ! The cinematography is awesome too, but it wasn't the first time I was seeing a one take movie. There's a french film from early 2000's called Irreversible which is like that. But it's more dark and violent, and the story's told backwards. But in Birdman this choice of the one take is not to show off, it really serves the story. There's no frontier or at least, we and the characters kind of lose it, between stage and backstage, real and unreal, and that's what the movie is about (not only, this movie is about plenty of things). The trailer doesn't give it justice, I think a lot of people didn't liked it because it wasn't sold properly, and maybe most of them where thinking it was actually kind of a superhero movie. They disconnected their brains entering the dark room while it's actually a movie where you need to think.
I don't know why I'm seeing comments of hate on this movie. I saw it last week and it was excellent. It was excellent but really confusing. The ending especially was confusing.
I'm so glad I knew nothing about the movie when I decided to watch it. I went into it expecting a superhero flick but what I got was a lot more of an experience.
I guess is that kind of movie that you either love or hate. For me, it was a unique movie experience but i can understand if some people dont get or dont like the dark humor or all the philosofical part of it
***** It's a "Masterpiece". Love or Hate I can see how some hate it, for me, it is a Masterpiece like for other people. Go decide for yourself. It's a philosophical, strange, weird type of movie. Open ended and not your usual "feed me quick enjoyment" type of thing. Just note it can be a bit depressing too.... it has many layers with dark comical points about real human issues, social, identity and psychological.
I first watched this movie when I was in the 9th grade and thought that it was so boring and stupid. I rewatched it again in college. And now I can't stop thinking about it and now I can truly appreciate the meaning of the film. Truly a masterpiece!
people today are very closed minded, they want to be entertained guns and explosions capture peoples attention very well. there no sitting on the fence on this one you either love it or hate. whilst i was in a state of awe the entire movie, had great comedy plot setting, it very easy for the majority of people to not be engaged and just dismiss it. ambiguous endings sometime dont sit well with people also (yes i know i have bad english and grammar)
I think some people don't understand postmodernism yet. This film is not intended to be to the liking of everyone. It criticises nowaday's celebrity worship, and that involves a lot of people, audience included. Total masterpiece.
Krista Roman Its not an' actors film'. Its a film that steps out of the world of 'huge explosions, slapstick jokes and shallow story' and gets something more original, emotional and deep for a change. Thats why it won awards.
BlueSharkBoy434 the point they're making isn't deep or thought provoking. Mid age crisis. it's just composed intentionally to.be difficult to keep up.with, it's almost too regular.. it ends up insisting on the same point relentlessly
This movie so great because it shows the truth about actors, their struggles and fears. They're all humans and we need to slow down on the complains about them and just let them do their thing.
I've only seen The Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception, and I only love Batman Begins and Inception, I haven't seen any of his other work. Plus the movie just isn't selling me, I think it just looks like Contact.
One of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. Almost everyone saw this coming: 9 Oscar nominations and 4 wins including best film. 9 golden globes, etc. Iñarritu and el Chivo Lubezki nailed it again! A pity that the score by Sánchez did not get a nomination, but is sadder that many people hated it and called it crap. Nevertheless we don´t care about them.
*This Movie is a true cinematic masterpiece.* Everyone who says it was boring is without a doubt a teenager or someone without a higher education or slightest comprehension of film-making/theatrical experience. Truly one of the best movies I have see in my life.
This is the Inception of movie concepts...other than Inception... Michael Keaton playing Michael Keaton...but not Michael Keaton. This movie might just be crazy enough to loop back around and be brilliant!!
One of those films where you know you are in the presence of greatness... And that’s before you even think about the acting. Brilliant. There’s still hope for films.
Too many people are saying that this movie is bad in the comments. I have to do my part. This movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The script is THE best one I know of. The production is pretty rich and layered and all that good stuff. This is all just my opinion, of course, but false modesty aside, I think I know what I'm talking about. Please watch the movie. It's great. This is where movies are at right now.
The very best movie going experience of my life....no words to explain, amazing! I continue to think about it after 3 days. Thank you to all that made it possible!
Great movie, ignore the negative comments and watch it and you will be in for a treat. I almost did not watch the movie but You Tube sadly is filled with haters that are bitter.
I love this movie so much, great cinematography, great cast and great story. I think there is a comedy in this movie if you can catch it in some scene. The most things that impress me is the unpredictable ending and the message that we cannot be such a selfish and arrogant person
Is this the story of Micheal Keaton or Adam West. Sorry this trailer reminds me soo much of an episode from BTAS called the Grey Ghost. The episode is about an actor who can't get into any roles because people only recognize him as the grey ghost.
***** I can dream that it is related to the episode can't I? But yeah I understand that those are the only similarities between the show and this movie. And there are plenty of differences between the two. There is no Batman in the movie and there are no hallucinations in the show. etc.
I think Michael Keaton is highly underrated. I don't think he's ever received enough credit for who and what he does. He has ability to make you laugh or cry. He is an amazing actor.
First of all, this movie is amazing and will be remembered a long time from now. The trolls in here does not appreciate the artistic level this offers because they longed for action and maybe a few hot models. I dont mind that but if you cant understand the magical combination Keaton and Norton made up for in the name of art, expression and acting you cant be taken seriously. Just know: "Popularity is the slutty little cousin of prestige my friend" - Edward Norton
i was a teen when this arrived, and i enter the cinema expecting an action superheroes movie. But i left the room with a tear out of my eye, what a masterpiece, "everyone wants to make the best for his own life, before we rest in peace" :´)
I just saw this movie tonight, and I'd like to discuss it with people who have seen it. To see your interpretations of the film. For those that haven't seen it, you definitely should watch it because its so revolutionary in the sense of the ideals and for a lack of word expose' of media communications (opinion) that drives an actor to go mad and achieve success both externally (critics opinion) and internally (bird man ego). I may be wrong in that in which I'd like to talk about it? What the movie meant for people, and your opinion? This movie is great and definitely worth a watch.
SPOILER ALERT. This movie has so many themes going, it discusses the ideas of fame, media, film industry art, self perception. To me this movie was very honest, as I thought not only Michael Keaton was speaking to us, but the director himself, too. Why do you create a piece of art? Are we what we create? Does what we create take over our real lives? Those I found to be the recurring and the most important themes of the movie.
All of the characters are wrestling with the intersection of identity and value as an internal or external thing. (Ed Norton wanting to fuck Naomi Watts on stage, for example.) This is, by the way, exactly the story of Raymond Carver, who was a blackout drunk. His writing was heavily edited by Gordon Lish and he lived in fear of being outed as a fraud or a talentless hack. I JUST came from seeing this & I'm trying to remember everything. The quote tucked into the corner of his mirror, The Thing Is Not The Name Of The Thing - something like that? It's the essence of what he says to the NYT critic. She labels things, she does not make things. And that Flaubert quote about critics? One becomes a critic when one cannot be an artist, just as a man becomes an informant when he cannot be a soldier. Also, there's the cast, many of whom were in Superhero movies. All playing versions of themselves. Ed Norton shows the best internal/external struggle. He says he can only be true when he's on stage, but when he plays Truth or Dare with Emma Stone, he keeps choosing truth. Keeps choosing truth. and then she rejects him when he tells the truth - that he wishes he was young. She's disappointed that he doesn't want to fuck her, but later he does because it's part of the Act of Truth, the thing he will do to make his audience happy. Okay I'll stop. Really loved it.
Inga M Okay, one more - thank you- in the kitchen monolouge on stage, Keaton talks about the elderly couple in their body casts, how they can't see out of the eye holes. The man can't see his wife. I think this part of the real short story got edited out. Anyway, in the end, Keaton is in the hospital, he's bandaged with those eye holes (which, you realize, is unnecessary, so it must be there for symbolism). I just need to see this movie again. So good.
Barbara DeCesare Thank you that was awesome. I am glad you liked the movie as well, very interesting fun film to watch. Thanks for your analysis, very eye opening.
When the trailer has more cuts then the movie...
love this trailer, a fantastic, beautifully orchestrated mix of cinematography & song, and an absolutely awesome movie that has it all !

It's just neither touching, dramatic, thrilling nor funny.
There is nothing to see, it's just pretentious.

People who dislike this film more than likely want plot, action, CGI, or all three. To make a movie with little to none of those aspects while making it look as if it was done in one shot is sheer genius.

Maybe it is just me, but this movie was breath taking to say the least. It might've been my favorite movie of this decade, and hopefully at least one other person reading this agrees.
F5Productions - I understood it, but I just found it boring. The drums were annoying as hell too.
Phenomenal movie.. modern day actors are shit except few like downey , leo, bale..may be this movie will remind them how to act.

***** Actually it was his schizophrenia and his alter ego in a package that said fuck the world - I'm going out with a bang!

One of my favorite films of the past decade. I love Birdman.
People like to complain about the Oscars, and there's a reason for it.
However, every now and then the Oscars DOES make good decisions. Birdman winning the Academy Awards is one of them.
For those people who work in the theatre, this movie is a masterpiece. Spectacular!
They disconnected their brains entering the dark room while it's actually a movie where you need to think.

people today are very closed minded, they want to be entertained guns and explosions capture peoples attention very well. there no sitting on the fence on this one you either love it or hate. whilst i was in a state of awe the entire movie, had great comedy plot setting, it very easy for the majority of people to not be engaged and just dismiss it. ambiguous endings sometime dont sit well with people also (yes i know i have bad english and grammar)
chen fu lol, no, i dont like action movies, but this piece of shit was awefull.
I think some people don't understand postmodernism yet.
This film is not intended to be to the liking of everyone. It criticises nowaday's celebrity worship, and that involves a lot of people, audience included.
Total masterpiece.
Such an actor's film. No surprise they awarded their own kind.
It deserved its win.
Krista Roman Its not an' actors film'. Its a film that steps out of the world of 'huge explosions, slapstick jokes and shallow story' and gets something more original, emotional and deep for a change. Thats why it won awards.
Krista Roman go watch transformers or shades of grey lol thos movies made for ppl like u ! and they are farming loll
BlueSharkBoy434 the point they're making isn't deep or thought provoking. Mid age crisis. it's just composed intentionally to.be difficult to keep up.with, it's almost too regular.. it ends up insisting on the same point relentlessly
This movie blew me away when I was a kid. Still feels so fresh and original today.
This movie so great because it shows the truth about actors, their struggles and fears. They're all humans and we need to slow down on the complains about them and just let them do their thing.
My most anticipated movie of the rest of the year aside from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
What about Interstellar?
lets not forget Interstellar :)
Ehhhhh I'm not looking forward to that much.
george baum Why man?Looks like a solid scifi.Nolan did great movies.
This film really is a masterpiece. direkting/ acting/ genres-mixing/ cuts/ everything like never seen before! Fuck!
*This Movie is a true cinematic masterpiece.*
Everyone who says it was boring is without a doubt a teenager or someone without a higher education or slightest comprehension of film-making/theatrical experience.
Truly one of the best movies I have see in my life.
I see vulture, gwen and hulk
you see a lot of superhero movies then
Same.
Kiryu Sannagi i see batman not the vulture lmao
u suck
Duh. And Batman.
Thank you Micheal Keaton. Thank you for being Micheal Keaton. :)
One of my favorite movies of all time right here.
This is the Inception of movie concepts...other than Inception...
Michael Keaton playing Michael Keaton...but not Michael Keaton. This movie might just be crazy enough to loop back around and be brilliant!!
So it's Michael Keaton: The Michael Keaton story, starring Michael Keaton? I'm down with that.
Michael Keaton was never not relevant. He's always been a good actor.
Yeah!!! Let's watch Michael Keaton!!!
Only he doesn't have a hot daughter who hates him
"How do you end up here?"
Good lord, if the movie is even HALF as good as the trailer, it will be a must-watch!
Love how he plays a bird villain now in Spiderman Homecoming 😂
The very best movie going experience of my life....no words to explain, amazing! I continue to think about it after 3 days. Thank you to all that made it possible!
Just see it. What a movie ! Incredible performance from all actors. Michael Keaton should have won the Oscar last year...
So that's what happened to Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law
Michael Keaton said no for batman 4 for real.
to batman 3
krono terria Actually... it was Batman 3
Luis Fer Alonzo You are right Thanks...
krono terria he didn't wanna join DC that's why he's in the new Spider-Man movie
He said no to Batman 3 because they wouldn't hire Tim Burton to direct + Keaton disliked the script very much - which is understandable :p
It just resonates so much more to me now that I'm older and having watched Bojack horseman.
This movie is basically Bojack Horseman with steroids lol
Great movie, ignore the negative comments and watch it and you will be in for a treat. I almost did not watch the movie but You Tube sadly is filled with haters that are bitter.
I love this movie so much, great cinematography, great cast and great story. I think there is a comedy in this movie if you can catch it in some scene. The most things that impress me is the unpredictable ending and the message that we cannot be such a selfish and arrogant person
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.
2014 is such an underrated year for cinema..
Is this the story of Micheal Keaton or Adam West. Sorry this trailer reminds me soo much of an episode from BTAS called the Grey Ghost. The episode is about an actor who can't get into any roles because people only recognize him as the grey ghost.
stylus850 Yeah someone else remembers the Grey Ghost I thought I was going to be the only one.
***** I can dream that it is related to the episode can't I? But yeah I understand that those are the only similarities between the show and this movie. And there are plenty of differences between the two. There is no Batman in the movie and there are no hallucinations in the show. etc.
***** Yeah I think Jack Nicholson would be fitting.
That's the idea. Michael Keaton was batman remember. It's satire of the entertainment industry.
It actually wasn't even written about Keaton. Inarritu wrote it about himself. Keaton was a total coincidence.
Dude, brad pitt is criminally underrated. He killed it in this one.
Lmao
Everything about this movie is perfect! MASTERPIECE!
I think Michael Keaton is highly underrated. I don't think he's ever received enough credit for who and what he does. He has ability to make you laugh or cry. He is an amazing actor.
BEAUTIFUL movie. Perfect in every way. The Oscars actually got it right this time.
1:10 Man this song sounds amazing in this trailer. Why isn't this version available to listen to?
Nina Simone - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
First of all, this movie is amazing and will be remembered a long time from now. The trolls in here does not appreciate the artistic level this offers because they longed for action and maybe a few hot models. I dont mind that but if you cant understand the magical combination Keaton and Norton made up for in the name of art, expression and acting you cant be taken seriously.
Just know:
"Popularity is the slutty little cousin of prestige my friend" - Edward Norton
i was a teen when this arrived, and i enter the cinema expecting an action superheroes movie. But i left the room with a tear out of my eye, what a masterpiece, "everyone wants to make the best for his own life, before we rest in peace" :´)
If this movie is just Michael Keaton running around in his underwear for 2 hours then I'm in
I just saw this movie tonight, and I'd like to discuss it with people who have seen it.
(Ed Norton wanting to fuck Naomi Watts on stage, for example.)
This is, by the way, exactly the story of Raymond Carver, who was a blackout drunk.
Barbara DeCesare , don't stop, please. You are incredibly insightful!
Alejandro Iñárritu is a Movie Genius
this film is one of my favourite films ever, a master piece that will never age.
I loved that version of "Don't let me be misunderstood"! I hope it's in the movie as well. Also, I'm really excited for this.
Replying only so I'll find out when you do.
covered by Brent Smith the lead singer of shinedown.
Thanks for the info, man
oldmoviemusic Thank you!
oldmoviemusic Link? D:
*Several times when watching this film.*
Me: There's no way this can get any weirder.
Film: Hold my beer.
Trailers are allowed to say "shit" and "motherfucker" now? :0
Things sure have come a long way since I was a kid...
This is the internet, dude. Anything goes.
It's "international trailer", that's why.
+lmu#irec
DONT FORGET BALLS:)
I don't foresee many 8 year olds looking at this tailor.
The transition from Emma stone's dialogue to the song is so beautiful. Great editing
I want to live in a world where the short stories of raymond carver are as popular as the marvel films.
