    I wanting to stick to Mercedes parts and have sprinter manual gearbox - gearbox is great and everything I wanted, holding great, but sprinter gear selector in panel is a bit that needs to redesign. Some said they used golf selector parts to make more original selector setup.

    What is the company that made you the shorted driveshaft? How much did it cost you if it isnt a secret?

      I placed order for:
      1) New drive shaft (I specified min length)
      2) Replacement of 4 spiders (I think thats the name) in front and rear drive shaft with genuine Ina spiders and balancing them
      In total I payed 2200 zł for everything (~500 EUR) and thats for sure, becouse I have it written down.
      In detail Im not sure, but this new drive shaft could cost like max 1000 zł (230 EUR).
      It took them 3 days from placing order.

    Just so satisfying to watch the great job you've done! Congratulations. I own a 350gd that i prepare for long travels such Africa or Asia. I have some questions. Is it your job or your hobby to rebuild cars? Can you communicate what was roughly the cost of your rebuilt (to have an idea), and how much time did you spent on it. Thanks and again congrats!

      Thanks and good luck with your build. Its my hobby after hours. Cost is > 70keur (parts only + paintshop and body work, my work not included). Estimating 2500-3000 hours.

    I have the same solution, but there is a vibration and knocking noise coming from the gearbox when idling

    • @MercedesOffRoadClub
      @MercedesOffRoadClub  Рік тому +1

      Yes, Im facing some noises as well, but: when on idle and car does not move then there is no noise. When I engage 1st, 2nd or reverse and car rolls with no gas applied, then I can hear some rattling noises. I checked gearbox inside and there is everything ok, so my first assumption is that it comes from single mass flywheel, but I made to less kilimeters, so I have to investigate it more. Anyway as I mentioned, I checked gearbox and transfer case inside and Im pretty confident its nothing serious, at least in my case

    What transfer case are you using?

    • @MercedesOffRoadClub
      @MercedesOffRoadClub  Рік тому +1

      Im using my factory transfer case. No modifications. 1.05 road ratio, 2.16 off road ratio. This 1.05 road ratio was used in early versions of W463.

    Do you have any information about fuel efficiency? Have you driven it yet?

    I ask you, why don't I use a manual Mercedes 220/270 cdi box?

    • @MercedesOffRoadClub
      @MercedesOffRoadClub  Рік тому

      Yes, its good question, at that time (3yrs ago) I decided to go bmw gearbox. Now I would probably go merc box.

      @@MercedesOffRoadClub So if you had to do it again, you will used a Mercedes gearbox?
      Which Merc box? And why?

      Its difficult question to me. Kit for GS6-37DZ comes with single mass fly wheel. Now when on 1st or 2nd gear, verly low speed, no gas, I can hear some (grinding) noises - I think from gearbox. I have checked gearbox and its in perfect condition - completly rebuild. Its easy to judge fast, but my guess is becouse that single fly wheel. Basicly its something I can live with. Secondly with single mass fly wheel I can sometimes catch "frog" on low speed on bumps and off roading - this is littile annoying. On the other hand it shifts perfectly, generaly it feels very very strong and reliabilie solution. Now I would go some MERC gearbox like 716.756. I think it comes from W204 and I would definitly go with dual mass fly wheel at this time, but I have no experince with such a swap yet ;)
