I'm an expat now living in Manizales Colombia. My Colombian wife and I live in one of the high rise apartments near this airport and watch flights take off and land everyday. I flew for the Navy back in the day and would say this isn't that difficult of an airport to land at. Most locals know it's a risk to schedule a flight to and from Manizales because the weather can change very quick. If the weather deteriorates enough, you're outta of luck. Pasaron de largo la zona de touwndown. Entraron alto y rapido.
Cool! The combined effect of the higher GS from the elevation plus the very narrow runway gives the impression of landing at some 400km/h! It almost looked like you wouldn't stop inside the runway. Difficult landing indeed. Thanks for posting.
Very nice video. I wonder how they managed to certify the runway if it has no missed approach. It did look like a bit late touchdown. How long is the runway?
Didn't see it this time, but there is a soccer field by the runway, I have played there a couple of times and have seen how low planes pass by. This area is surrounded by mountains and weather is ridiculously unpredictable. Great landing!
I am always getting a bit nervous in front of my screen when a pilot "decides" that he doesn't need the first half of the runway :D. Great landing anyway. Cheers from Germany.
In answer to all the "too fast" comments: He landed deep into the runway and with a high ground speed due to having landed with a slight tailwind. Look at the windsock on the right near the end of the runway and particularly at the drift of the smoke in the city as he turns around after landing. The tailwind caused him to slightly misjudge the approach due to the high groundspeed and caused him to touch down too deep. Notice the other aircraft has elected to take off in the opposite direction so as to use what little wind there is that day.
In some airports you can land and take off only from a specific runway, no matter wind direction. It looks fast because of ground speed at high altitude airport and narrow runway
That was nuts! I've never seen such a short, narrow runway as this for commercial jet liners. Was like landing on an aircraft carrier. Then, if that wasn't crazy enough, the guy had to spin around and drive halfway down the runway to approach the terminal. YIKES!
Wow! What a beautiful place to disembark! I could never afford to go there...but I will always continue enjoying the last few minutes of the video...and I say that as a native of the original ' forty shades of green' country.
Alejandro Castillo Trujillo Imagine the sheer horror if a plane were to go down... Not only do you have the suffering of the passengers & their families, you potentially destroy the memorials for hundreds/thousands of the already buried deceased & their respective families!
love flying into and outa the San Andres airport. a lot of over ocean flying then all of a sudden you are rapidly approaching a strip of runway seemingly WAY too small
This is a very small airport and there isn't much air traffic actually. I study on the university you can see on the right, next to the airport and it is not annoying at all.
Not when you're living in the heart of London and there's always air traffic in the sky coming in to land at Heathrow. And London City. At first, it's a dream but after a while it's just an annoyance.
Looked like it. I initially thought he would go around, then I realized it was probably a Dash 8 or some small propeller plane, so he knew what he was doing.
We take it for granted but when I see this view it really is remarkable that we are able to fly so high in the sky literally above the clouds. Remarkable what man has achieved. No one could have imagined that that pre 1900’s

gogol1st jajajaja that one was good jajajajajajaja
Really??!
Pilot just swiched off autopilot. 👍🏼
First, he was joking. Second, no, it was not the autopilot, but the trim.
I absolutely LOVE casting this to my 70 inch Sony, spectacular!
Colombia has beautiful lady, I love Colombia 💚💚💚.
Gorgeous scenery, tha runway end was coming in so fast I held my breath...
+lenny zaroff Ud. suena omnipotente.
Beautiful view ❤️🔥 from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
absolutely beautiful
that landing was smooth as fuck but holy shit what a long landing... should've gone around
Look desc...Manizales has no missed approach procedure
That was a lovely bit of flying ,very nice to watch ,well executed by that flight crew.
prettiest airfield I have seen.
yes is my colombia!!
Incredible landscape.
Its just a simple place to land.. pilot touched down late with a bit high velocity
Actually I think he's done this a time or too, if you land too early you have to still taxi out to the turning point which would waste time.
@@Kev376 There is a safety issue in doing this.
amazing...May Allah bless All
''note airport, will give it a go in MFS2020, well done
Just been doing the same! Scenic part of the world ...
An extraordinary landing seen through the window of the cockpit, so exciting.
airport la nubia manizsles caldas. colombia
Cool! The combined effect of the higher GS from the elevation plus the very narrow runway gives the impression of landing at some 400km/h! It almost looked like you wouldn't stop inside the runway. Difficult landing indeed. Thanks for posting.
Que belleza de lugar
Excellent video, wonderful to watch, used every bit of it.
Very nice video. I wonder how they managed to certify the runway if it has no missed approach. It did look like a bit late touchdown. How long is the runway?
Aivis Svirskis my friend you have to see the landings in Toncontin, Honduras! I had been there many times, quite an unique experience!
***** Thanks, that might be the case.
Runway is short. Look like the plane will overshoot at the end..
Pilot touched down way late. Should have gone around when he missed the mark.
Flaps full, speedbrakes on, full reversers and pray like hell!!!! Lmao
Didn't see it this time, but there is a soccer field by the runway, I have played there a couple of times and have seen how low planes pass by. This area is surrounded by mountains and weather is ridiculously unpredictable. Great landing!
Big plane, short runway - good job..
Hudson River with a tailwind too!
Well the ATR 72-600 is not that big
I am always getting a bit nervous in front of my screen when a pilot "decides" that he doesn't need the first half of the runway :D. Great landing anyway. Cheers from Germany.
Wow - what a beautiful place.
That should have been a go-around in my books. Beautiful scenery though.
It's the only take off direction MZL has. Terrain there doesn't allow but 1 single runway for take offs and landings.
In some airports you can land and take off only from a specific runway, no matter wind direction. It looks fast because of ground speed at high altitude airport and narrow runway
Well done awesome landing 👍🏼🛫👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Me also.
Wow that was a very long and speedy taxiing. Great quality too!
Kudos to the pilot! Main man knows his shit!
That was nuts! I've never seen such a short, narrow runway as this for commercial jet liners. Was like landing on an aircraft carrier. Then, if that wasn't crazy enough, the guy had to spin around and drive halfway down the runway to approach the terminal. YIKES!
Holy Moly you left that a bit late.......
Wow! What a beautiful place to disembark! I could never afford to go there...but I will always continue enjoying the last few minutes of the video...and I say that as a native of the original ' forty shades of green' country.
Was that a cemetery on the approach before the runway? I guess it makes for a short journey in the event of an accident...
Yes it was(I live there), nice one😂
Alejandro Castillo Trujillo
Imagine the sheer horror if a plane were to go down... Not only do you have the suffering of the passengers & their families, you potentially destroy the memorials for hundreds/thousands of the already buried deceased & their respective families!
lol and next to the cementery there's a big university (I study there)
Beautiful Landing . Thank you for sharing this .😊👍
Too high. Omg I got nervous for you lol
Muy bueno el video. ..gracias por compartir. . Saludos desde Quito - Ecuador.
WOW! I think they needed to replace the brakes after that landing.
Fantastic video, congratulations!
Do you have to hear the terrain warning when approaching? Nice video
Arnaldo Capo probably. The plane computer can't tell between a potential crash and landing, so it has to sound off. Or so I believe.
No..that thing works when the speed of the aircraft if very high and isn't normally expected when it is going for actual touchdown.

love flying into and outa the San Andres airport. a lot of over ocean flying then all of a sudden you are rapidly approaching a strip of runway seemingly WAY too small
must be a dream to live near an airport
This is a very small airport and there isn't much air traffic actually. I study on the university you can see on the right, next to the airport and it is not annoying at all.
Not when you're living in the heart of London and there's always air traffic in the sky coming in to land at Heathrow. And London City. At first, it's a dream but after a while it's just an annoyance.
People must have earmuffs while sleeping...
Good landing but i do want to say the pilots were a little too high when they approached the runway
houses r next to the runway and also below the ground level........bravo
It almost looked like he was running out of runway.. :)
trust me, he or she was cleaning there underwear out after this landing.
Not the touchdown but the fact that the plane barely had enough runway to stop
Looked like it. I initially thought he would go around, then I realized it was probably a Dash 8 or some small propeller plane, so he knew what he was doing.
I wouldn't want to be that building..lol
We take it for granted but when I see this view it really is remarkable that we are able to fly so high in the sky literally above the clouds. Remarkable what man has achieved. No one could have imagined that that pre 1900’s
el lukla de colombia!
Anton Westrick es muy peligrosa!
o el princessa juliana de saint Marteen!!
Me encanto tremendos paisajes y linda ciudad , buen desempeño del piloto
These runways are at increased risk of overshooting
The terrain is beautiful!!
respected
Simply beautiful!!!
