- Not gonna lie, I've been looking forward to making this review for the better part of two years now; ever since I made that 4 minute Rowdyruff Boy Reveal video from like August 2018, I've been dying to cover this episode in a full on video, and now that time has finally come!
Is this the best 22-minute special the reboot's ever made? Undoubtedly, although there wasn't much competition that would give it a run for its money anyways lol. That said, this episode's got it all: cameos from nostalgic characters, appearances by (almost) every major villain, a wacky racers parody, a hit song parody, and some legitimate action! In retrospect I wish I came off a little more positive than I did, but that can't be helped.
Still, I had a blast making this video and I hope you all enjoy it! This is the final half hour special the reboot's ever had, so needless to say we ended the streak of those on a higher note. It's not perfect, but I like it quite a lot.

@@londonjackson8986 What do you mean Z did them worse? They were such quantitatively different characters in Z that I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. But for the sake of a direct comparison anyway, while I admit I mean sure they were never a threat to the entire city in Z but they came very close to destroying the girls reputation and standing in their second appearance in that show. So that would show them technically being more competent than in their later appearances in the OG show. (Boy Toys and Bubble Boy respectively, though I loved both of those episodes)
If we are talking about something other than level of threat than honestly I think Z was more interesting showing in active conflict with just about everybody all the time.
They had more screen-time in the original but given the characters we are talking about that barely counts for anything I think. Sorry for the massive ramble, I just have a hard time seeing the RRB-Z as much of a step down

As someone who loved their debut episode in the original series, I feel like the RRBs were better off not being included since their cameo was so half assed. Even with Boomer's cute little shark helmet, it just was like... yep, they're there. Oh, they're gone now. Nice. What a waste of time.
Also, slight nitpick, but you called the mage the Mayor's 'descendant' when you should have called him the Mayor's ancestor.
But if that was his ancestor shouldn’t the mayor have some sort of magic powers as well

Let's pretend that the RRB came from a different dimension and after they get out of the race they go back to their dimension. (AKA The OG PPG Universe because this show cant be a continuation because bliss and professor being a jerk it doesn't fit.)
I never really watched the original show much as a kid and only got around to seeing it later, but I really dislike how aside from Princess, Mojo, and HIM, the other villains from the original barely get any love. If they're lucky enough to get any more than just a cameo, it's just a role in one episode, usually to prop up the original villain from this show.
All that said, when Bubbles turned that song on I was expecting the other two to hate it, because the joke where one characters listens to a song the others hate definitely isn't old, but it was actually really cute and sweet that they all enjoyed it and sung along. I'll give this show a point for that.

They don't even use HIM that much. It's pretty much Mojo & Princess carrying it on their backs.

If you ask me, I think The RowdyRuff Boy are just cameos they went and wasted.
If this show was meant to introduce the PPG to the new generation (I'd rather just have them watch the original instead), they're going to be confused on who the Rowdyruff Boys are and question what even the point was of putting them into this episode and then kicking them out not long after.

Well, if you've watched "Mr. Mojo's Rising", he technically is the girls' true daddy XD Or you can view him and Utonium as both being their dads, which is even more weird, given that Utonium is technically Mojo's dad too XD

Out of all of the appearances in the show, seeing the RRB gave a bit of a smile and excitement for me. I thought they would be a pretty good challenge and balance with the girls but ... they were treated like a secondhand thought -

The climax is easily solvable. Blossom, being the smart one, realizes that the eclipse is almost over. She then has Buttercup and Bubbles fly into the sky and blow the clouds away, while Blossom aims the recharged weapon and fires at Jamore. Simple enough, I'd say.
They also couldve said Jamore getting distracted made her magic wear off. Anything works
ah but that would mean someone other than Buttercup gets to defeat the villain

You know hitting her with the slow ray could work for an ending. It would be funny if it was like this. Mojo Jojo: She will barley move we can just go home. The powerpuff girls are in bed and Jemica is still moving in slow motion. Then there is a title card 100 years later with her only 5 inches away still walking in slow mo.

I will admit. As someone who is a fan of the Rowdyruff boys, that scene (or cameo) alone was very disappointing. This show is like: "Hey, heard you like the RRBs. So here's a clip of them and you'll likely never seen them again! Just like the other classic PPG villains!" I feel like the reboot just rushed it and call it a day -_-

Honestly, I have to give the reboot credit for when they try to create actual villains with actual evil plans, and I think Jemmica could have worked well as the new central antagonist for PPG2016 if she was fleshed out more. Say, if they had her as a recurring antagonist in seasons 1 and 2, gradually collecting artifacts in the background, then in the season 3 premiere they reveal the twist and make a more serialized story for the cast of characters to resist her, then have her be the final battle for the series finale. Hell, do Bliss vs. Jemoire, give both of them proper payoff. I know some fans would be disappointed that a new character would be the "big bad" instead of Mojo or HIM, but I don't think the creation of new villains was ever the problem with the series, just not handling them (or anyone) very well.
Hell, maybe the PPG would have to join forces with either Mojo or HIM, making a deal with the devil of sorts? There's a lot of potential with your idea.
It's so sad that her story didn't come to a conclusion. I wonder if that was intentional? Maybe they were trying their chance with 4th season? Like "we have unfinished bussines, can you give us 4th season?".
No matter if that was intentional or not, this is a TERRIBLE decision. If you (I'm talking about writers) are not sure whether you get a new season or not, you must end that story in the last season that you sure you get.

You know when you think about it, jemmica‘s *“supposedly planned”* backstory is the same to Dora. Remember the Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy’s character Dora with the lunchbox but it’s reveal to be that Dora is Pandora And she Tricks Mandy of opening the her lunchbox.

The thing that made me make the comparison was the sequence where Jemmica is walking through time periods. It's exactly the same as in Pandora's Lunch Box.

I don't really get the point of the Rowdyruff Boys' cameo. Old fans aren't going to get much out of it (maybe even get annoyed that that's all that they did with them) and anyone who hasn't seen the original show (especially little kids, their target demographic) is likely going to be confused and/or curious as to what's up with these male clones of the Power Puff Girls. Same goes for any of the cameos of the villains from the original show, for that matter.
Jemica turning out to be an evil sorceress could've been fine if they at least tried to build it up in previous episodes. Maybe have her trying to find the mcguffins she needs to return to her true form and at least try to imply there's something more to her then just a treasure hunting kid who's a jerk. And it's not like they haven't done overarching plotlines with their villains before, like Silico. Though I imagine this whole thing with her being an evil sorceress was not something they thought about until this episode. Maybe they thought doing a Wacky Racers plot wasn't enough for an interesting episode and just decided to throw in this random twist to try and raise the stakes.
Also, how did the Mayor turn back to normal? The last we saw of him before the ending, he was turned into sand and it doesn't look like they mention anything about him turning back to normal or the magic wearing off.
The mayor was magically turned back to normal off-screen... because the show couldn't come up with an actual way to return him to normal.
Seeing Donny getting run over, drowning, and being electrocuted is giving all kinds of catharsis right now. Hopefully this is the last time we see this character.

Me and my friend actually started screaming at the TV when the Rowdyruff Boys appeared, and then screamed more, in anger, when they exploded.
Also, why the HELL didn't Blossom just use her ice breath on Jemora?! It would have had the same effect, just less effort.

Honestly it would be interesting to see what this reboot would do with the RRB if they tried to, but considering how it handled other characters in the og series maybe we should be thankful they're a cameo so they aren't given enough time to be ruined for fans who like them.
If I were a small child and I never saw the og series though I would be incredibly curious and confused about these random villains who resemble the PPG who show up and don't come back.
If the show ain't gonna explain or give any attention to these villains for new fans to know what they're all about then I'm not sure why they even have them at all.

They should not have been mentioned..at all. I said before, they're my favorite Antagonists of the girls and should have had more in the original. The reboot just butchered a lot of what was great with the original.

Some of the characters from the original PPG series get taken out by characters from the reboot.
I could be wrong but seeing this gives off the impression the staff intentionally did this to mock fans of the original, as if to say "these characters aren't as cool as the ones we made"

As for the Rowdyruff Boys cameo, if it had paid off from them returning later in the series, then yes, it would be worth it. As it is now, it’s just a waste of time and animation.

I remember when some of my old internet friends were like “I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE ROWDYRUFF BOYS ARE GONNA DO IN FUTURE EPISODES!!!” And I’m like bruh it’s just a cameo they haven’t been established to come back later. But they were convinced. That’s one of my biggest “I told you so” moments of my life 🤣 I feel like Blossom’s Rainbow Rocket kart suits Bubbles more than Bubbles I would’ve given Blossom some rose themed kart. I swear Blossom and Bubbles keep getting their traits mixed up. Stay safe as always everyone!!! 💙💖

Btw, even though it's irrelevant to this particular episode, my personal head cannon is that the unnamed cosmic bear from Largo is named Moderato, a medium speed in music theory.
Honestly, I feel like they should have kept Bubbles with her sisters. They lost a lot of time to set other things up by showing her driving through so many different places, when they could have shown references to these places by having references in the background of the race and having parts of the race take place in those settings.
That time could have been dedicated to giving Jemora/Jemore a longer reign as an evil dictator, which would have allowed you to see not only how dangerous she is, but to see what the world could be like if she succeeded. Plus, it would leave more room for tension.
Imagine if the girls and Mojo teamed up, having worked out that while the girls try to slow Jemora's army down, Mojo had to improve on his invention so it would freeze Jemora in place rather than slow her down. It would give time to also show the girls struggling (not because of incompetence, please) to take her down, establishing why they need help and further solidifying why Jemora is dangerous. To help tie in the visuals thematically, the episode could have gradually gotten darker with clouds slowly coming in, giving room to really feel the tension and change.
When Mojo returns, he gives the girls the decelerator to use, and (so they can keep the solar powered device joke) the girls can freak out because he forgot to change that it's solar powered and he can defend that he was under pressure. The joke, because time is running out, can be faster paced than it was in the actual episode.
So the girls, thinking on their feet (to show that, yes, they are capable heroines that can problem solve) realize the eclipse might not be over, so they fly above the clouds to catch the last sunlight while Mojo does what he can to impede Jemora. The device charges just enough for one last shot, so they have to make it count. They manage to land their shot and save the day.
This all could have felt way less contrived and out of nowhere, and the plot hole of Jemora being frozen instead of slowed would be solved. It would also show the girls winning because their ability to think like heroines and work together (along with Mojo), not because raw luck that would allow anyone to defeat Jemora.
It's a complete ass pull for a character no one really remembered with very little payoff.
If they wanted to have the idea that Jemmica was someone else, why not drop clues a bit more within the two other episodes she showed up? Both of those episodes presented her more as a friendly foe to the girls, someone they had 50/50 trust in so you'd think they'd play with this by giving her MORE episodes with the one leading up to this possibly ending with her doing something to set up trust between the girls only for them to be backstabbed at the end with this reveal.
On top of that, did Jemmica NEED to be given the items in order to return to her human form? What if her plan hadn't gone through and one of the other characters HAD won? She would have been fucked so it makes the whole point of there even being a race at all a complete theme asspull. They wanted to have a Mad Max/Death Race style episode but tripped to the finish line (BAD DUM TISH) by throwing in this needless character and plot thread about a character who comes off like they threw in this 'reveal' to create a false sense of importance to her. Jemmica shows up in what, two other episodes before this? And they're so spread out that you forget that she's even a character. Hell, the Gnat is more memorable than Jemmica and his whole point IS to be a joke but that works in his favor. As you said, Jemmica is such a massive cliche that even as herself she leaves no impact.
This is similar to how they reveal Allegro to be one half of another bear; it's presented as if the audience is supposed to be shocked by this but we're not, mostly because people don't like Allegro and they broke their own continuity with him considering he was originally supposed to be an even smaller bear within the larger bear body.
That's the problem with nearly all the twists in the series. They're presented as something that actually breaks the reasoning to why they exist in the first place. Donnie magically being a unicorn despite being left as a horse and his shitty kind just leaving him there was the start of this. Then there was Silico's time lapse plothole, the Fashionista wedding, Princess and Blossom being friends, Bliss' existence, Allegro's origins and now this. The show seems to think it earns it's shock through twist by default, not understanding a thing about build-up. There was no build-up to Jemmica being this in the past even with her love for ancient artifacts because before then, there was no indication that they had any other meaning to her outside of what they did when they were put into effect. I guess the argument could be that each one could be used on the girls to get what she wanted but considering how each one was destroyed so easily by them, Jemmica was better off NOT involving the girls in her hunts because they always stopped her in the end anyway so she should have known to make sure they knew nothing about her activity since they were the biggest obstacle she faced.
But I don't know. This is the final seasons so I'm used to how these episodes go off in the end.
I feel like the writers wanted to do their own twist villain, but had no idea how to set it up. This feels like two completely different episodes mashed into one.
It seems like they were wanting to follow the other shows like Steven universe and adventure time by having this big plot twist and giant army battle that alot of 2010 shows were doing.
Alot of the callbacks feel like half acknowledging the complaints while also trying to bs there way of trying to play these were planned all along.
Also was I the only one who felt like they ripped off the Heinrich revel from knd.
I will say i like jemmorie design definitely to me had a samurai jack vibe to her.
My thoughts are she probably was going to a random villain tgeh decided to combine with Jemmica for this episode.
Also I'm fine with the rowdyruff boys only getting a cameo I dread to think if they had appeared they would have done cringey episodes about toxic masculinity or some other sjw buzzwords.

Putting bliss and the reboot in the original series timeline is confusing and I don't get it because it keeps showing it's a continuation but it kinda screws up the timeline in the original series.
monique perkins yeah it tried to be both a continuation AND a reboot and failed at both because not a single original/preexisting characters was given an explanation and backstory for the new generation they’re aiming at😅 almost like they don’t care to give their audience important information

I don't even think the rowdyruff boys were fanservice, they very well might have been a JAB at the fans, considering they get the "YAMCHA'S HERE- YAMCHA'S DEAD!" treatment.
I mean, it could have been intended as a fanservice but I only say that as the reboot staff has already proven themselves as incompetent to things like subtly, pacing, and LOLSORANDOM humor, it could have been ANYTHING.
I am glad that the RRB showed up in this episode, just to let us know that our boys are still alive 👌

Ok, for reals tho I doubt this is something that was planned, they just thought it would be a cool twist but it fits enough with her interests that its not _as_ jarring, but still a big 'WTF' moment if i've ever seen one. Also, i do like the rowdy ruff boys even if they are just clones of the girls (the reboot taking that quite literally with their cart just being a color swap with a skull in front instead of a heart) but like... there was no reason for them to put them in this episode just to embarrass them like this. They already ruined my girls then they had to go a ruin my bois too 😞
The Jemmica/Jemore twist would work a lot more if the two characters had more common elements but...beyond their gender, they have no common elements. I'm not even sure they're voiced by the same person, or even have any shared eprsonality traits.

Her wanting these anciet artifacts for power could've been her trying to get her old self back without the help of that staff. Dont get me wrong, its still whiplash inducing and stupid but if someone wanted to argue why it made sense, thats a valid point at least.
Ofc some of the original villains would be taken out easily. Fuzzy and the Rowdyruff Boys were taken out just like that while the more favored original villains like Mojo and Princess lasted longer in the race.

Yeah, Boomer has the exact same eye color as Bubbles, and the last time we saw him, his eye color was _way_ darker than it appeared in this episode.
A three second cameo and they couldn't even bother to give Boomer the right eye color. I would be happier if they didn't show up at all.
I see Jemmica's story alittle similar to Pandora' backstory to Billy and Mandy but Instead of treating someone on opening her lunchbox only to have her curse Instead we get discount Thanos References with the staff along with Rise Of Lyric with the kinda army. Also; hey Rowdyruff Boys abit late to the party I see but I still say It's still for the better anyway. Apart from the RRB's cameo and a few of the plot holes, this was actually the first episode of the PPG reboot that I kinda enjoyed!
Seeing the PPG’s kart just screams “Sonic Raider” vehicle the ninjas used before. Plus it would’ve been better to have them separate the kart into smaller vehicles.
Wouldn't it have made more sense for Him to have been the one to de-power Jamorae and turn her into a powerless, immortal child?

Exactly, that dosen’t even make sense. He made them to destroy the powerpuff girls, and the purpose wasn’t to have them blown up in the end. Once again, cartoon network, do a better job. Don’t ever disrespect the rrb or ruin the relationship between the PPG and the RRB ever again

I mean it's kinda sad that rowdyruff boys forgot mojo when he created them. The Rowdyruff boys were so happy and love hanging with him on episode 12 "the rowdyruff boys" the rowdyruff boys pranked him when they defeated the powerpuff girls (which I did not like) they were laughing at mojo. When they pranked him. And mojo laughed to.
I think it's better that the RowdyRuff Boys were present if only for those 3 seconds because it at least proves the staff acknowledge their existence.

You know, I’m aware you needed to establish all the characters first, but I’m getting legitimately sad that episodes of actual quality are showing up in the final season and not the FIRST.
This episode, Blundercup, the Fashionistas Mind Control Episode, Largo (I don’t care what people say. I liked that episode), all seem like there was more effort being put into them than the majority of the first two SEASONS. (Leave it to this show to give us stuff we wanted on its way out and it’s too late to change anything)
In fact If you take all the good episodes from all three seasons and put them together. You have enough episodes to make one fairly okay reboot season that isn’t despised by basically everyone because of all the EXTREMELY bad episodes in between the actual good ones.

So, I remember seeing a clip of the RRBs being in this episode but I had no idea that the Jemmica twist was a thing. That took a weird twist.
Maybe we should be thanking them. They spared the Rowdy Ruff Boys from terrible writing by barely putting them in a episode

I see the RRB’s cameo as worth it because it’s nice seeing them again but, I never really thought much of them as characters. Mojo just flat out blasts his own sons and, that’s about it. Also this episode came out on my birthday in 2018 so, I love that their only cameo happened on my birthday

As a RRB fan, I’d have to agree that it would be better if they didn’t show up in the scene at all, for starters, they didn’t even talk, and i didn’t see them at the beginning of the episode with everyone else getting ready to race, and I didn’t see them at the end of the episode either. They should’ve put more effort into that part tbf, and I mean _wayyy_ more effort. If you’re gonna include old villains, at least do it right, and give them the same amount of spotlight as the others. My boys deserved better, _way_ better.

I will admit I love Jemmories design. She looks like an Ancient Egyptian Empresses mixed with a demonic mummy, and I love it! Easily one of the best designs the reboot came up with. I know that’s not saying much since the shows art style is terrible, but when they do something right, they do something right!
Did someone got drunk and drank coke energy drink and thought hey let’s make the characters better than the original villains. By making the rowdy ruff boys to be hit with explosives and make the bland character become a freaking monster all this time.

The only pros of Donny being in the show was when he got run over by a car, the cons of him being in the episodes was literally anything else, he’s taking the spotlight from the RRB’s and a lot of other well liked villains too. The reboot _clearly_ has favourites and it shows

6:15 sedussa was my favorite character when I was younger I loved how strong and powerful she was and I thought she was cool but Cartoon Network got rid of her because she’s too “sexual” like yeah she’s kinda sexual but a kid doesn’t know that they into see a bad ass best
I think the main reaosn this reveal about Jemmica is hard to grasp is ebcause 1) the two forms share llike NO elements beyond gender so they really do just seem like two seperate character haphazardly meshed together and 2) there's NO build up to this, it just suddenly HAPPENS in an episode that was otherwise NOT about or focused on Jemmica.
But as you said, the fact it ties into her obsession with stealing artifiacts does work, as before her motives for stealing treasure were nonexistant and made her seem flat as a result.

I don’t buy that origin story at all 😂 one because the history is so inaccurately correct and two it’s just irrelevant at this point 😂 the last time we saw her was basically trying to takeover Poseidon’s territory aka the lost city of Atlantis and to kill Poseidon 🤣 first from a ripoff version of a care bear aka cosmic bear and now Jemica, where do these reboot writers get these ridiculous origin stories of their characters from exactly, because it doesn’t make ANY sense anymore considering this is technically the last season of this show.
