Pax Dei needs one server per region. If the world is as big as it sounds, it should hold enough players for an indie MMO to handle. Making too many servers will make all worlds feel small.
@@christopherjohns772 No. The map is supposed to be huge. This is an indie MMO that, after a year, will have 2,000 players on at a time. One server will make it feel full and complete.
Yeah I had that thought today, as well. I am with a group of people that had planned to form a big guild for Pax Dei, but when I talked to them today about plans for next week, none of them seemed to be interested at all in the EA. Most of them share the opinion that the game in it's current state is not worth a 40$ pricetag, and they're gonna wait. I have to agree. I saw how many shards they plan to launch with, and it's too many. I am fairly confident the playerbase will be tiny (for an MMO) and they should probably go with one server per region.
@@purpleltv3817 Couldn’t have said it better. On top of that, they’re going to be charging a higher monthly sub for more plots? Come on now. They say it isn’t a survival crafting game, but… it’s definitely looking like Rust: The MMO. It doesn’t feel like an MMO, that’s for sure.
There is no hunger, no thirst, no heat, no cold, you don't get tired, don't need to sleep, your health don't drop with time, etc... There is absolutely not a single element from a survival game on Pax Dei. I don't get how someone would think Pax Dei was a survival game.
Crafting, building, player versus environment are common aspects for many survival games, even without the hardcore elements. For example, Minecraft was considered a survival game before it introduced it's hunger system in patch 1.8. Yet it popularized the whole genre.

$100 for master key. so you are giving out 6 keys.... as far as servers are concerned, developers in the US really should put their servers in the center of the US.... aka Kansas or Missouri data centers. not as popular as the main ones (texas/chicago) but geographically its more "centered" to the US as a whole. which means the worse ping for any player will be 60 (east and west coasts connecting to middle US) while middle US will have shit ping because "farmland" so they end up with about 30 ping maybe down to 15 if you are lucky. so that's 15-60 ping for everyone in the US as apposed to going east/west lock which means the opposite coast gets 90 ping or worse, which means 5-150 ping range (because lower speed connections on cable aka not fiber will get 150 ping trying to connect to opposite coast. its one reason why i switched to fiber. yes, there is a ping difference between copper and fiber connections. fiber connections are NOT allowed by law to get pushed to copper connections. which did free up copper for copper only users, but copper also sucks for ping reasons).
@@RLKajander last i looked, amazon dont charge different prices for different locations. and OHIO would be the smarter choice to ensure west coast isn't raped ping wise. dont get me wrong, im east coast, i should care less, but i have that mentality of fairness. amazon really should think about adding a middle US location for gaming to bring the entire US together especially for MMO's.
