Looks like the turbo might be getting ready to blow, they should have had 2 locomotives on that train, that train had a heavy manifest. Thanks Jason for the video
Considering the 503 was gone for 3 months of shop work 502 may be in for the same. I see the gathering of the gondolas is in effect with 6 making the Channing turnaround. Will have to keep an eye open on the others
1:42 "If my car started smoking like that, I'd be a little worried." True, but if your car started developing 3000hp, you'd also be a little worried. 😉
I am surprised Jason. It is the turbocharger. If they keep going without maintenance it will burnout and catch fire. Where are you here? Is this train heading north?
Nothing wrong with that locomotive. Think about a semi truck that smokes when it's under load. Both the semi truck and locomotive have diesel engines. That's just how diesel engines do. They smoke when under hard load when the throttle is increased. 👍
As being a railroad coach fan and understanding diesel engines that engine as had it's engine rpms illegally turned up to get more horsepower out of it. it works good just that it is a violation of the federal clean air act and a lot of states emission regulations.
This channel is perfect for my smoke breaks 😊 thanks Jason!! Now off to watch the conclusion 😁
I like that long curve and that awesome locomotive

Awesome 52,cars I’d be smoking too.
Looks like 502 thinks it's an Alco locomotive 😆
Time for a tune-up!
Cool stuff there, son!
Hi Jason. It's an Alco wanna be. Enjoy the day. Ray L

I am not a mechanic but I think that is the turbo acting up
The smoke could be due to bad fuel (or fuel with water in it), or the engine could be due for an overhaul. Greg in TN 😀
Could be coming up for a blown turbo??
21 gons if all from Alter Metal, production is up! Or they have been saving up all week. 😁
With that locomotive smoking like it is now, I would be worried about it catching a fire.

Just saw JASON ASSELIN CHANNEL,with this same train,do you live in the Same area?
This is Jason. lol
@@TrainsUPofMichigan Yup!
Must live in the same area. They have _exactly_ the same accent!
I am not a train engineer but Looks like he’s just working hard he’s pulling a lot of cars
The probably won't do anything to ELS502 until there are flames coming out of the stack. By then, the turbocharger will be long gone.

You'll change your mind after seeing the longer video tomorrow on my big channel. lol
@@TrainsUPofMichigan I don't know. It will have to be something very different from what I seen here.
Out of power
