@Ilovesuperman Yes Mammootty has many limitations if we understand him from a perspective of a megastar but as a super fine actor I would say he is best in country today. Actually he is not a inborn actor he has worked really hard on his limitations through continued trial and error washing principles. I do not like his "action-less" action films rather I like his classics which is very rare nowadays. What comments majorly have received are- 1) He do not do Comedy effortessly 2) He hasn't done a memorable romantic role yet 3) He has done stylish action but the speed and flow with which such stunts need to be performed is seriously missing because he is too old even though he looks young. He however is best choice for kerala vadakkan pattu roles like chandu, pazhassiraja, chandroth panicker etc 4) He has not done dance 5) His movies rarely have classical, semi classical, adipoli songs where he is performing.

If Thapar could speak malayalam then Mammootty would have nailed this interview. Mammootty's dialogues in cinema show how good he is in Malayalam. What I have observed about Mammootty is that he loves what he does which is what keeps him going. If you love what you do, then you will win over those who watch you work. It is true for actors as well.
