    Just made my first mitten ever with this tutorial… super quick, rewarding and straight forward pattern! I must say this simple stitch gives the most lovely texture and is so classy looking! I’ll be making many more pair!!

    I am brand new to crochet... I just started five weeks ago. I have not tried the herringbone stitch yet but you make it look easy. I've been needing a new pair of mittens, as I actually prefer them to gloves, but they are hard to find. I think I will make these this winter! ❤️ Thanks for the tutorial!

    Love these! I made them for myself. They were easy to make thanks to you good instructions and they are warm and beautiful. I used teal on the cuff and grey yarn for the rest. Two other people in my family now want them! Thank you :)

    Hi MJ, this is the first time I've attempted mittens, in the past I have only made scarves , hats, lots of newborn baby hats, and a Christmas stocking, your directions and voice were so easy to follow, I love the directions you gave. Thank you for making it easy to follow, can you tell me how to make the mittens in a smaller size, (the size for a childs size) like a teenager. I just would need the stitch count . Thank you Shelly

    Maker joins cuff with a seam at mark 4:56.
    She starts talking about the Thumb at mark 11:00. She starts an increase there and leaves opening for thumb.
    Cinching top 17:27.
    She picks up on finishing the thumb at mark 20:00. There doesn't seem to be an index anywhere for content.

    Can you please give measurements for the size you’re making, I’m using thicker yarn an these measurements don’t work ( needle 6.5), I’ve taken it apart 3 times 😩… I want to make them please help! You’re awesome

      it’s not counted as a row :) and you can just do as many rows as you want to fit your wrist

    is this warm enough to hold snow? There still look like there are big gaps (I know crochet has that tendency by the thermal stitch reduces that).

    So I could make this with just a weight 3 yarn I wouldn't need all that other yarn to do this right? I have weight 3 yarn that would be perfect for this but I don't want it to be holey or to small

      Weight 3 should work ok, or a 4 would make them thicker

      Good question! If I count the chain I don’t end the same way.. So I would think she doesn’t count it…

    How do you know how much lines you have if u loose count

      What do you mean by lines? Stitches? Rows? Either way you have to count them. With the stitches its easier to count the v-shapes that will appear on top of your work as you go.

      She says 24 stitches and 26 rows. One row equals 24 stitches, aka one «line» of stitches

      You could purchase a substitute. If you only want to use 1 strand of yarn a DK or worsted weight would work.

      use a thicker yarn or smaller hook, that will help get tigher stitches BUT I have noticed that herringbone stitch does leave bigger gaps between stitches so to honestly fix this we might just have to sew in a liner somehow.

      Make sure to keep count of your stitches and don't tighten your gauge

    I am kinda hung up on the first single stitch row of the body... aren't you working two stitches into each row of the cuff? So 52, not 26? I rewatched and compared the video so many times, I can't figure it out 😅

      I am only crocheting 1 stitch into each row of the cuff. You should have 26 stitches.

      @@mjsoffthehook I think I have been counting the rows wrong.. I thought the number of "ridges" are the number of rows, but the space between them is also one row, right? So I crotched double the rows, but I didn't realize because I was fitting it around my wrist and it fits, which is weird because my yarn and hook are pretty similar 🤔 gotta figure out the right sizing for my mittens.

    You know you have to actually whack those rivets to seal them right? A double cap rivet means you bang with a hammer using the post and setter the kit comes with ...

      Doesn’t make a difference for left or right with this pattern. It works for both left and right. I’ve made a few pairs of these already.
