    I've reviewed all the series on the IFS install and found them very helpful. I do have a couple of questions: 1) at what height of the frame did you start with and where did you measure from or did you place a level on a certain part of the frame and level the bubble? 2) What is the easiest/fasted way to remove any of the factory riviets that hold any part of the original leaf spring brackets that need to come off before starting the IFS project? Thanks for your help

    Great vid. Just bought a 55 1st design/ series driver. Original for automatic three speed. 261ci with 848 head. This seems to be a nice kit, sure looks to be diy. Have an L79 327, but have not made the decision about keeping the in-line or going the 327. Already play with my L78 69 SS Chevelle, so not shy on power. Anyway, well done explanation and your time to offer the vid. Cheers

    I like all your videos. I noticed you got the 2" drop spindles. Curios if you like them and what the truck looks like with the drop. Do you have any pictures? Frank

    Hey Silvo, I know this is a 3 year old video and you may not be checking comments any longer. Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos! They are really helpful!
    I have a question about the front radiator cross member. I’m trying to keep a 6 cylinder engine in my ‘51. This kit show trimming the radiator crossmember .
    But that’s the front engine mount area for the 6. Does the new radiator cross member you purchased account for using a 6 cylinder?
    Thanks!

    I just did this install, but my center line on the crossmember was the bottom part, not the outside tab you marked. The pictures next to step 6 and 7 looks little bit offset to the front. How did yours turn out?

      Perfect. Sits great, wheel centered in the fender.

      Like butter. Smooth. Make sure to get a sway bar with the install.

      Came with the kit. I believe they were the 400 or 500s.

      Honestly not sure. It’s a Mustang II Coilover IFS from Speedway Motors. Call them up. They have great customer service.

    How has this held up? Did you ever weld them in?

    • @silvosshop
      @silvosshop  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Frank, I haven’t welded anything in and don’t plan to at this point. It has held up very well. I live down a dirt road with bumps, driven it over 500 miles and no issues.

    How did the front end come out? I'm doing the same one and when it says scribe in the center of the crossmember doesn't that mean the actual crossmember or the flange you centered off of?

    • @silvosshop
      @silvosshop  3 роки тому

      Apologies for the delayed response. Happy to help. Front end removed by unbolting the leaf springs and unbolting the top shock mount. The entire front axle is loose. Jack up the front end and roll it out. Make sure to unhook the brake lines from the calipers.

      I scribed both the crossmember and the frame. Lined up the marks.

    327 400hp to 410hp.......yes instantly stopped watching. Cant deal with bullshit. Hard to make 400hp out of a 350 let alone 327.

    • @damianlindsey6177
      @damianlindsey6177 3 роки тому +2

      Then you must not know how to build an engine. People make 450 hp out of a ford 302 all day and yet you say ots hard to make power from a old chevy 327? Gtfo

    • @gwade8808
      @gwade8808 3 роки тому +1

      LMFAO.. clearly you lack any knowledgable experience with a SBC. 1st off You do realise the LS platform is based off the 327 designed and is actually a hare smaller at 323 cubes. So, your telling me you can't get 400 hp out of a LS 😂😂😂.. but I'll play your game... Not only can you do it cheap and easy with older motors but you can use the stock block and heads (meaning no machine work needed) from a old 5.7 truck motor.. swap the springs, rockers, throw in a XE268 cam, good dizzy and a mildly jetted carb..done and done....... pulls hard, sounds nasty and is a great cruiser... educate yourself before you knock a guy whose actually in the garage turning wrenches and sharing his build.
