Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) are the main part of the Anganwadi Services (ICDS) program, which is run by the Government of India to provide early childhood care and development for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. As of December 31, 2023, there were 13,48,135 AWWs in India

A lot of South Indian Brahmanical customs are considered fastidious but they had a lot of science. People have to wash their feet before coming into the house. Different clothes for inside the house and a different for eating. Women bathe before cooking. The vastu system ensures the well was in on the diagonally opposite side of the cow-shed. There are specific diet for lactating mothers and that explains the relatively higher intelligence levels. Use of millets contributed to a lot of micro nutrients and minerals.

I'm a brahmin - not having eggs or meat sets generations back both physically and intellectually - we need to give eggs in mid-day meals

@@TheGrimStoic Most states are. Egg are no longer taboo. But pulses form the main source of protein for most Hindus. Coastal states are mostly fish eaters. Now a days Biryani hotels outnumber other hotels. Protein intake is going up.

@@TheGrimStoic Stunting as so nicely explained is caused/ prevented in the first 1000 days. We have in India what is called Anganwadi workers who are in the forefront of mother and child care. Lots need to be done of course

Can we get granular stunting data by city, district and state in Pakistan? And compare this to stunting data by city, district and state in India and Bangladesh?
What cities, districts and states in Pakistan have best practices with respect to stunting.
Uzair, this was an amazing podcast. I have seen Dr. Mansuri's work and learned a lot from her.

India has a huge problem of residual antibiotics in eggs, poultry and even fish which are being farmed. Organic food, millets and natural farming is now big business in India. Free power has killed the soil in Punjab because of leaching.

Please keep your padestrian knowledge to yourself. Do you know what is the level of pesticides especially in chlorinated ones in soil, poultry and vegetables? Do know why India has banned the import of milk products and poultry from the US? India has lowest level of use of medicines and antibiotics are not stable under normal environmental conditions for more than 48 hours ...the claims you are finding against Indian products is a part of a toolkit of George Sorros and Christian missionaries...

It is not just degrading the soil that Pakistan can't blame west, it us also the deforestation.
In India, forest cover was 18% of land mass in 1973. It is 23% now. In Pakistan the forest cover us close to 2% because for decades, unchecked deforestation was permitted. This has mych greater impact on climate than carbon footprint. Not desilting the water pipes before the monsoon also contributes to flooding. Unplanned houding societies blocking the normal route of water to the seas also contributes to flooding. Failure to make sufficient dams and checkdams also contributes to flooding. There is so much that Pakistan can do but chooses instead to overspend on its army and military pensions rather than improving the lives of its people.

Fenugreek (methi) is probably the crop that is used as feed for cattle and also methi seeds and methi leaves are good for human consumption too. Methi has a balancing effect on testosterone/estrogen levels, and it has good protein content too. Methi is traditionally used in Indian cooking; my grandfather used to soak methi seeds overnight and then drink the water next morning and chew the seeds; lived to be 97 and without any chronic health issues.
