That’s one of the more interesting and best sounding hm2 based pedals I like how the fuzz lays in the back and isn’t so in your face it seems like it it helps the notes retain their tone and definition better but it’s still got the nastiness just instead of being up front it’s like it lays below pretty cool, I really dig the modern version for all the same reasons Kyle stated it’s an HM2 for people who like other peoples hm2 tones but can’t use the OG themselves for reasons stated no note definition farty palm mutes The “not useable sound” would be cool for an intro riff or interlude before I big ole fat breakdown
I have this pedal and love it! I use the Gehenna in the loop to tighten it even more and to blend two totally different gain tones together. It's awesome and brutal!
When you start digging into the HM2 you see all the places where tiny adjustments could have made this thing usable from the beginning. I just made one for a buddy and added a bunch of switches that de-suck the circuit. There’s a good pedal buried under Boss’ “let’s push 4 different clipping circuits in a row as hard as we can” ethos.
Kyle!!!!! That pedal is right up my alley!!! Thank you for demoing it!! I know not everyone love that Swedish Buzzsaw guitar tone, but for me, it is exactly what Im after for an awesome guitar tone!!!. I have the Eye Master ( that I run into an MT-2 waza, then into an Orange Micro Terror, then to my Marshall 4x12) and its monstrous!!...BUT, I feel like this would work even better for my need than my current setup.
I love the channel! I like the addition of the 2 amps when testing a pedal. Would love to see you play stereo with 2 amps too see which would pair out of your whole collection
Who’s a good boyyyuh!?!?? Sorry, I get like that when I see a cool dog. Check out the EHX Tri parallel mixer. You can mix three overdrives/fuzzes/distortion/eq parallel into one signal to get the perfect balance of whatever ingredients you want to craft your perfect tone!
The pedal sounds great, but I couldn't stop staring at that Balaguer to be completely honest. I've only recently started to warm up to the Jaguar shape, but that Balaguer is fcking sick! That color scheme works really well with that body style, they knocked it outta the park with this one for sure. The pickguard and forearm cut are nice accents as well, really brings it all together in terms of the overall look.
Lichtlaerm and ThisHeavyEarth are my 2 personal favorite wallet killers of the past couple years. The ThisHeavyEarth Crustifixion is an absolute weapon of an HM2 variant, and my choice over the Medusa, but not by much. It's still a fantastic choice, and I'd rank it or the Gehenna (although not an HM2 based pedal, still a wicked nasty box of pissed wasps) my second favorite.
If you want tighter palm mutes just use it as a boost into a heavily distorted sound on your amp, keep distortion between 7 and 8 o'clock and the rest of the knobs maxed and you get the same sound texture but a much tighter feel.
I really want to hear that classic 20's preamp into some bigger power amps with 6l6 or El34s. I love how that amp takes overdrives and feels under the hand but don't like how the power amp responds as much
16:35 is btw exactly how I love it: gain just turned up enough to add some hair, level up and the rest to taste and adjusted to tuning, amp and pickups :)
Not really surprising, is it? There are people out there who refuse to play anything without a certain expensive name brand on the headstock. Their loss!
The HM2 market is so weird. I had an original. I had the Behringer clone, that's just a bit tweaked, but does the 3 things I expect: CHAINSAW, Godflesh, & Big Muff (search "HM2 Gilmour", he had a "jam" board that was all Boss - HM2 was his "Muff"). Just have to give the Godflesh setting a tad more highs than having the B&T knobs pointing at each other. Can I even get the Godflesh sound without emailing the builder for settings? I own amps with less knobs.
@@turtle4lyfe91 you only think that if you only use it for chainsaw. Owned both, and they don't even sound the same in the JHS clone video in that mode. Not bad, not dissimilar, but different.
Somewhat opposite in the price range but I got a TC electronic eyemaster from Amazon warehouse for £18 which gets me in the ballpark. Brutal AF riffs in this demo though!
I have the Hm-2w but I still may have to get this. I’m with you on the HM-2 where I don’t actually love playing it, and it doesn’t feel great under my fingers, but damn if I don’t just love that sound. Sometimes you just have to throw up a middle finger at your tone snobbery tendencies and just go full Entombed on your sound. This pedal seems like you can probably blend that in with your base sounds better than the HM-2w.
I like the Boss HM2 shitbox & after extensively checking out other types of HM2 styled shitboxes; I’ve reluctantly concluded that I have no further need for other HM2 shitboxes. Boss HM2 is all the shitbox I need. But you do you.
Here’s an idea@belligerentamateur we all love seeing all this stuff through high gain amplifier but like these title reviews, I know you’re gonna do a 5150 and why wouldn’t you they’re awesome or a boogie of some sort? What about the Boss katana people that that’s what they got for an app. It really just needs some sick pedals to run thru it
I’m a different Daniel but have nothing but respect for Deadweald-Daniel! We’re from the same country, have somewhat similar taste in music and the same name - that’s about it 😁
You could act like you're in the 80s and buy what was available then. You will have way last available to you to go through. Then you will have less to complain about 😊
He has the gain on the pedal pretty much off during the distorted bits. The Medusa is just as brutal as something like the kma Wurm, but it has more opportunities to be dialed in badly for sure because of the amount of options that are there. I have an old crate tube amp that has probably the weakest drive channel I've ever heard. Putting a Ratsbane (gain at 9 o'clock, filter at about 10 o'clock, volume dimed) in the loop of the Medusa (gain around 9 o'clock, volume dimed, low and grind dimed, blend about 60/40 Medusa/ Ratsbane) sounds absolutely brutal. On an amp that has a super weak distortion channel, if you can even call it that.

Sick Ola riff. Sick Ola guitar. Ola the Swede.
Yes! Nice presentation Kyle! Mine is coming friday together with an aquaria which I intend to blend with it. Should be awesome!

Digging the cutaway shots man, keep it up! Give the episodes good flow.
I have a LHP and a Dunwich Amplification hm2 clone and I’m adding this and the Gehenna to board. Can’t wait to run them all together into my Sovtek!
Got me one. Gonna run my metal zone through that loop.
That Buried Alive breakdown at the end made me mosh my computer.
For the hm-2 sound, I’ve taken a liking to the GCI Jugendstil. It just works perfectly for all of my amps

Sounds killer guitar looks great too
I am a fan of Mesa Boogie pedals myself.
Thanks for the review! Sounds ok, not my thing, I keep it basic and simple with my EVH 50s, Hexdrive kills on the blue channel.
While IR’s have certainly come a long way,,, there is nothing quite the same as placing your favorite pedals in front of a killer tube amp!
The last HM 2 type pedal I had was the Empress Heavy. This sounds brutal!
If you haven’t tried it yet, you should check out the KMA Machines Wurm 2. Also another German version of the HM-2! Awesome vid!
i didn't know you had a puppy! gorgeous dog
As someone who loves hm2 but doesnt love chainsaw zealots this pedal is my top 3. Great company with awesome ideas, ill definately be buying more.
AAArrrggghhh..:) I bought one today. Before I bought the "Ritual" Pedal and this is really awesome too.....Thanks for demonstration...
I love my Medusa, Its awesome!
killer pedal! enjoy!

now I have to sell my hm2 to buy the Medusa. That blend feature is gold!
Sounds better then the hm2

Sounds like The Haunted riff from Ola in the beginning. Cool tone, Rad pedal!
The eyemaster for $18 arguably can't be beaten
That sounds a bit better
Thumbs up for the puppy content
Had a guy argue that the OG MIJ HM-2's are better than the Waza because they cost more money.
