I learned the same concepts in Graduate Business School 30 years ago. Only the lectures on Business cycles took an entire semester. EPB just provided the same education in 10 minutes, and for free.

Knowing a difference in your own industries business cycles is important too. Some sectors are very much in recession while others are booming. They can and will have drag and tailwinds from the broader economy, but deals can be found everywhere in ghettos cycle
what do you think of the current booming ai trend with mass chips needs to be produced, data centers booming, material and energy needs to power the cloud data centers. in this area, seems just start, not the end of the cycle. Plus more gov deficit spending down the road might impact the economy as well?

To set the stage, I'm early 40's, no degree, only worked wage earner jobs, like cooking, painting, retail sales, basically a pleb... Finally though, I've been finding myself focused on something I feel passionate about and could devote myself to. What would you recommend to be the most efficient path for a guy like me to pursue the knowledge and know-how I need to get into an employed, or self employed position in the world of Macro research and/or Macro portfolio wealth management firm to some capacity, even just to be in a position of assistance, so I could learn from others?

7:58 What a totally false statement. No one can know where exactly we were at a moment in a business cycle until years later. If anyone could accurately predict place in the business cycle, timing the market would be easy.

4 months ago we were in the slowdown zone as said around 8:15 and now we are around the recession heading into the rebound zone.
They just have to balance the job market. Job openings compared to unemployed people should be equal
