- The Prince of Wales visited Bulford Camp in Wiltshire, in his role as the new Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment. Prince William chatted to fellow soldiers and took part in a simulated combined arms attack on an enemy position on Salisbury Plain. Report by Marek Czubala.

No, it's definitely you that is talking nonsense. He'll still be King, he'll still be dealing with State affairs and the red boxes that contain papers from government ministers from the UK and the Commonwealth. So no he hasn't abandoned his position as King by going abroad. Which is essentially what you are saying.
That's not how it works. When king is aboard there's a line of succession plan in the works in case of emergency. So William needs to be preparing to take on acting King role (just like Lizzy did when her father died, except she was aboard and he was in UK). William will be getting a mini-red box to prepare. I doubt. At least George will be involved in military education and training - when he becomes King he will also have to become Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (or as it is correctly called in the UK). Such a status also requires some immersion in the practical side of things.
Nowadays, even Crown Princesses are involved in military training (like Princess Elisabeth and Princess Leonor)

He is so liked and respected around the world that I, as a Welsh person, born and bred, am grateful that he’s ours - our very own Prince. Yes, he represents our country well, just like his father before him and also his mother, Diana, who definitely put Wales on the map. Prior to that people in far flung areas of the world had never even heard of Wales. William won’t let us down.
