Two decks, a mixer, a box full of vinyl and a DJ who really knows about track selection and how to build a set. Sven Vath doesn't need a laptop running traktor or ableton plus a bunch of effects. This set is far better than what most DJs deliver using a whole array of digital technology. Every track Sven plays is top notch, and he lets each track stand on its own and breath a bit before he mixes anything. And his mixing is real smooth here, nothing fancy, no big ego trick moves, but it works. Very deep, very soulful.
I've seen him twice this year, once on NYD in London and Monday just gone at Cocoon, Amnesia, Ibiza. I literally couldn't reach any higher for the sky. BLOWN AWAY.
Except for the part where you make it sound as if performing with traktor or ableton isn't the "real deal" (just check David August or Nico Jaar BR) , I completely agree with this. Before this I heard Nina and Ben Clock BR's and even though they mixed a lot of tracks, I got totally bored since every track seemed to be only noise
I adore the fact, that Sven allows himself to commit some micromistakes while mixing, letting the mix to sound even more organic and far more human than those Sync-"Dj's" of nowadays. Crowd reading, interacting and even leaving a gentle response to those curious party guests urging to talk to him while mixing. Def a Pro. Gude Laune!

What a legend... Every once and then, i come to this set. Just to see how amazing it is. It' hard to believe that too many dj's saying they have no time for mixing, so they use all recent technology to help them (cd's, pen's, preset's, etc, etc...). I'm not against it. Really. THe technology is there, so... But please put an eye on this guy. He doesn't need to be 100% of the time moving knobs like he's doing something special, just to be cconsidered a good dj. Part of the job is the choice of the set and the perception of the audience mood. This guy nails it. He has time for dj'ing like in the old times (as far as i can see) and interact with all the other people in there. Awesome. Meanwhile... 514 haters though... wtf is in there not to like?
+fitty77 totally agree with you. this is one of the most complete sets ive listened. track selection, flow and a genuine having fun atmosphere. papa sven knows how to make a crowd move no matter the setting
+fitty77 I can agree with you regarding the energy in the room, the fantastic track selection, taking the time to have fun and interact with the audience. A really nice attitude right there. But as a modern DJ hearing this mixing....I don't know, it feels. Lazy? I'm very unimpressed by the way he mixes the tracks. And maybe this is just what we can be happy about with the technology and craft moving forward - the qualities and perks of a DJ always changes, with time and individuals. Great set.
As a 42y old electronic music enthusiast, i heared countless dj sets from the bests and i have to say that this man knows his stuff. Hats off mister Väth.
This man never disappoints. Had the honors of seeing him at cocoon Ibiza twice. Hours of never to be heard again bangers. Man has tracks hidden in every crack.
All i see here in these comments is people complaining about nothing, i see people grooving and dancing, i hear excellent music from Sven Vath, and pretty much all those who complain about Sven not being the same from the 90's.... no shit sherlock, its 2015, good musicians change and evolve with time Don't cry because he's not playing exactly what you expect him to. Personally i find this set much more concise and deep than what i've heard past years. And much more adequate to the type of event and venue, would have hated hearing him playing 130bpm crude 90's techno, just wouldnt' fit the situation
Lost count, the amount, of times I've listened to this mix. Always has a positive effect, regardless of where my head was before, Sven provides the fix. I'm a Disco and House junkie( in the best way poss) listening to Mr Vath grabs his audience, that's for sure. The beat selection is definitely funky, and it goes without saying, he's the boss. Always shows up and knows where it's at. Continues to stay true and play vinyl, all the way thorugh, Sven's word is final. A true legend.
'Gute Laune'!!
I think all events shoukd go back to vinyl at least once - sort the men from the boys ! For me your not a dj if don't use vinyl - let's face it, using anything else it's cheating !

a Smoothyway to turn his vinyls, a Smoothyway to choose THE song a Marvelousway to being present with public a Marvelous lesson to all dj's.. Simply Sven Vath.
I've watched so many Boiler Room sets, but this one is by far my favourite. It's the whole package - the track selection, the programming, the mixing, the reading of the crowd and the participation between Sven and the crowd, this is a masterclass. It's even better than Jeff Mills "The Exhibitionist", and that is saying something. Bravo Sven Vath - THIS is what a DJ does.
Its an awesome mix, but it isn't as good as the exhibitionist. No way near dude. The praise for vinyl mixing in here is admirable, but this was how it was , and the exhibitionist was next level when it came out . Live at the liquid rooms us still technically better as well. Much love to sv en though , this is a beast of a mix
@@andyhowells7271 Wow, 6 years since I made that comment, completely forgot about it. I would say that they are very different types of DJ, Mills has a very different sound and way of putting his sets together, Vath is more simple in terms of mixing. They are very different sets too, one is recorded in front of a live audience, the other not, so the comparison probably wasn't justified. I think in terms of sheer technical skill, nothing really comes close to The Exhibitionist, but I did like this live set too, totally understand where you are coming from.
this is one of the best set i've ever heard in the last 10 years: i come back to this video when i have to feel the power of music inside my brain. Sven is a monster, extraordinary the fact he played only with vinyls ... Absolutely mesmerizing!!!!
What a brilliant set. I've heard Sven a few times live in Berlin and Frankfurt - without a doubt technically some of the best sets i was dancing to so far.
Sooooo cool to hear him with vinyls ! I remenber when we were making party in amnesia ibiza club... 1998... We were so crazyyyyy and young ! I love this musicien ! One of the best DJ in the world who marks the electronic music history ! Love u Sven Väth !
my first underground mix that I have heard, after that I searched for local underground electronic music venue and its been now 10 years. Thank you Sven
This dude will always have a special place in my heart...masterminding Harthouse, Eye Q and Recycle or Die is plain legendary. The man charisma on legs...legend is the word.
Been listenin to rock and metal since i was 6, but i also love other ganres...techno,trance,exc.. Limiting yourself is a stupid thing to do and actually the people that do just that are true posers. :)
always had a big respect for Sven, he is an icon, like Carl Cox or Ritchie H., even if you are not into that music, you can't disregard those folks for what they did to the scene... For me personally Sven played here absolutely killer set...music is so good and so well built the set, I want to watch it over and over again...it's masterpiece. hats off

Ah, Sven Väth, as we getting older he's getting older and the music is getting ... softer but very very nicer :) Who would've thought how much he changed since 2000, check out the Sven Vath - Live @ Love Parade 2000 Berlin video on youtube :) Thanks for uploading this DJ set and making available for us to listen and watch.
He always had an understanding for the crowd... you can find sets where sven back then also played more sophisticated and soft styled... or a mix of genres....he simply has a broad music taste and a broad understand of people and the moment. After my opinion;)
I watched this mix tripping on acid. all the funky colors and motions of the crowd made it amazing, i couldn't make sense of if it was real or not. my brain couldn't tell if Sven was playing and the crowd where a pre recorded back drop, or if it where in fact live. it felt as if there where visual layers of the scene. The fact that the music is recorded strait from the channel and there is no ambient volume made it trippy as hell too and made it hard to tell if was live or not. lets just say my brain went to trip town on this one. recommended!
@@milolive6870 The needles on the decks whilst picking up the vinyl grooves actually pick up the crowd noise in the back too, it's something I've always loved about recorded sets where people mix off wax.
I like the way Sven takes you on a musical journey, guides you into a place where you are absorbed and immersed in the music.hypnotic almost.first class.
old school beat mix......i like so much that sound!!!.... perfect balance groove, moment.. ambient....... this should be an audio book for news djs....
How far we've come since I sat by my radio-tape-thingy, trying to cut out the Traffic-Information while recording Sven's Clubnight. I remember when, coming from J.S. Bach, I found Techno, I realized I had been waiting for this sort of music. It's still with me, it evolved with me, it made me. It still makes me dance!
I respect Sven a lot why, because he keeps it real with the vinyl and the turntables which to me is the best weapons of choice ever made. and chicks bubbling behind the decks is a bonus..
+pattbateman Definitely! I can not read a paper or write on my research without good techno sets.. It helps me to focus on my work and to forget everything around me. Because of this I love my work. I can combine it with music.
1:09:00 to 1:10:00 is a master class in subtly removing a loveable but annoying obstacle (the guy in the white t-shirt), and causing no offence whatsoever. True class.
This has to be my favourite Boiler Room set. Sven is a true master, his tune selection is perfect and his mixing effortlessly simple. He doesn’t over use effects because he doesn’t need to. All you need for a great set is already there
Those comments are great, first time for me listening to this set, and the looking forwardness is ..... HUGE .... :-) seen him a few times, he rarely disappoints .... great guy, great emotions ....
it's the best *thing* ever, full stop. Whatever you usually listen to, whatever 'tribe' you think you belong to, if you don#t find yourself dancing to this involuntarily, you are an empty soulless shell
His music has slowed and changed because the scene has changed and he's gotten older as a person and as a DJ and producer. It's called evolving. I love this sound, it's deep, the bpm is slower, and it's a reflection of where he is musically in life. Does everyone still want to hear him pound out 135 bpm straight techno from his late 90's days?
The problem is,fast music has also changed. ''135 bpm straight techno from his late 90's days'' as you mentioned; doesnt exist anymore. I was at Carl Craig boiler room party at Berlin the last week, even he has slowed down a bit.And with these dub rhytims taking over the techno beats; the fast music isnt the old stuff anymore. So I believe sven is following the trend rather well; not conservative but carries on the tradition.
Bugra Erkan 135 bpm techno totally exists, just depends how you pitch it up ;) And remember that in the heyday of those FAST techno records many were pitched up at plus 8 anyway way beyond 135. The pace of the dancefloor has changed for sure, but mainly because people don't want to dance as much ...I phones, feeble hands in the air is about it. The crowd is dictating what Sven can and cant play here, and that is why this set has no edge, no tension building, no journey and to me is lacking in soul., Sven is giving them what they want, and not want he wants them to hear. This type of music has always existed in the dance music spectrum, it is nothing new, it's just playing safe.
The essence of DJing. The calibre of record, the order and delivery are the trademarks of Sven Vath. He moves a crowd however wooden they are. I-I:Cube, Donna Summer and Guy J were the icing on a delicious cake here for my money.
I love this Set from Sven. fucking awesome. I first it took me a while to get used to his Music but I love it now. Seen him In Ibiza along with Richie Hawtin and Eddie Haliwell One of the best time of my life. Wish I could freeze that moment in time and party forever.

Fuckin Irie mate. Troot be told!
That's what I love from him. I can listen to the damn track for a few minutes and enjoy it. And I will enjoy it because nobody picks tracks like Sven.
Back to this adorable set in 2024. Timeless masterpiece :)
Tremendo Papá Sven 🎉🎉
I would call it a tired, old, depressing pale shadow of Club Omen.... but I'm just German I suppose.

+fitty77 And he still has time to change the needle of the turntable amidst the set (22:52) :)

the way techno should be - decks en vinyl with unknown tracks to most..... lets hope we can do this soon again in 2021
Why should it be about what kind of decks someone is using.. techno should sound good and thats all that should matters
Mark, Totally agree with you... Vinyl is the best !
For the love of the scene not the love of being seen... ;-)
absolutly even when its mainly house

9 years after initial upload. I'm still here. This mix keeps giving goosebumps just like the first day. Maybe even more. After all these years I've been through, all the memories... The songs are so fitting. I'm on therapy because apparently I don't manage emotions very well xD but such music... I feel it deep inside
Try liberty caps my friend , Really aids my ptsd

a Smoothyway to turn his vinyls,

a Marvelousway to being present with public
a Marvelous lesson to all dj's..
Simply Sven Vath.
Try space
Absolutely mesmerizing!!!!
all the master needs is two turntables, a mixer and a fraction of his sublime vinyl collection.
nearly 10 years later ... still fresh ... go Sven
2022 and I'm still listening to his set every year a bunch of times! Beautiful music
This mix is a work of art and I have listened to it countless times over the last 6(!) years. Brilliant.
Same. I always come back to this one.
March 2024 and this is still my favourite boiler room set! Masterclass from Papa Sven. 👏
Bestes Boiler Room Set Ever !!!🔥
Indeed 🎉🎉
This dude will always have a special place in my heart...masterminding Harthouse, Eye Q and Recycle or Die is plain legendary. The man charisma on legs...legend is the word.
10 years, feels like yesterday and the set still slaps. so many timeless tracks
Awesome.
40 Jahre Sven. Den macht keiner was vor.
i mostly listen to heavy metal, sometimes some dubstep, or some other electronic or club music, and i must say, i'm really enjoying this
I'm a techno and Metal guy myself, so I see what you are trying to say .... I mostly wear a metal shirt during Techno sets also ....
Kenneth Demeester reminds me of bassnectar
Been listenin to rock and metal since i was 6, but i also love other ganres...techno,trance,exc..
Limiting yourself is a stupid thing to do and actually the people that do just that are true posers. :)
zexedearth89 yeah, there's good music in any genre :)
VOLUMEN !!!
always had a big respect for Sven, he is an icon, like Carl Cox or Ritchie H., even if you are not into that music, you can't disregard those folks for what they did to the scene... For me personally Sven played here absolutely killer set...music is so good and so well built the set, I want to watch it over and over again...it's masterpiece. hats off

'Vertigo' by Eats Everything.
"Das kommt von Herzen
Komm auf die Leiter
Wir sind doch anders
Wir machen weiter"
He always had an understanding for the crowd... you can find sets where sven back then also played more sophisticated and soft styled... or a mix of genres....he simply has a broad music taste and a broad understand of people and the moment. After my opinion;)
I watched this mix tripping on acid. all the funky colors and motions of the crowd made it amazing, i couldn't make sense of if it was real or not. my brain couldn't tell if Sven was playing and the crowd where a pre recorded back drop, or if it where in fact live. it felt as if there where visual layers of the scene. The fact that the music is recorded strait from the channel and there is no ambient volume made it trippy as hell too and made it hard to tell if was live or not. lets just say my brain went to trip town on this one. recommended!
like your work Dr Jones!
@@glenbrowne9005 😁
Its definitely live, and you can hear the crowd at some points. Glad your trip lined up with this video
@@milolive6870 The needles on the decks whilst picking up the vinyl grooves actually pick up the crowd noise in the back too, it's something I've always loved about recorded sets where people mix off wax.
really rare to see when the dj is so in the music that he parties with the crowd .... well done Sven san !!!
Gret dj, balancing between techno and house. No SYNC BUTTON, no Pioneer toys for talentless "djs". PURE MAGIC
Pure and organic. Perfect beatmatching/mixing, super track selection, like the old times. Respect
2024 and i'm here listening to this amazing set by the one and only PAPA SVEN
I like the way Sven takes you on a musical journey, guides you into a place where you are absorbed and immersed in the music.hypnotic almost.first class.
well said that man took the words straight out of my mouth.sven is a legend pure and simple.
This is one of the best livesets you will ever find. It has an incredibly catchy and unique style. Thank you Sven for your passion!
Dear Sven, you're simply a Killer DJ that will remain our history, Thank YOU Very much mate !
Aller geilster Sven!!! Daniel + Bettina!!!
Quit Before 2023 But this is still one of his best'szzz Sets so far in the last 10 Years :)) Sven You're the pillar in the Techno Szene !!!!
Sven Väth behind the Decks is like Walter Röhrl in a Race car, just amazin Work!
Sven Väth is well known vor very fancy sets. But this one... woohoo... is one of his best sets so far! Thank you!!!
old school beat mix......i like so much that sound!!!.... perfect balance groove, moment.. ambient....... this should be an audio book for news djs....
Papa Väth in Action, mega geil seit Jahrzehnten.....,🎧🎼🎵🔊🔥💫👍
A few days ago my boyfriend sent me this and since then I cannot stop listening. This is gorgeous ❤
The best DJ ever in the orbit morley.he really understood what the club wanted......and delivered.........wow great times.
2020 Still Sven is the real Goosebumps DJ ever, set is just so so unique
A true master at work
The man will keep going till death and even then he will be doing all day 24hr sets in heaven
Peace.
Till väth
How far we've come since I sat by my radio-tape-thingy, trying to cut out the Traffic-Information while recording Sven's Clubnight.
I remember when, coming from J.S. Bach, I found Techno, I realized I had been waiting for this sort of music. It's still with me, it evolved with me, it made me. It still makes me dance!
just for mixiing with vinyl Sven you will stay number one DJ tekno in the world !❤
I respect Sven a lot why, because he keeps it real with the vinyl and the turntables which to me is the best weapons of choice ever made. and chicks bubbling behind the decks is a bonus..
two years since i wrote this. i still respect Sven for using the weapons of choice. Long Live The Turntables and Vinyl Purists!!
Jesus, I feel reborn and just full of life again after this session I just heard on UA-cam and wish life was like this every day and nite .. Amen
Omen Alter... Omen.
ughh I gotta stop listening to this shit when I'm studying. It just makes me wanna get up and dance, ya dig?
+fat cat Duude me too
+fat cat yup, so much this!
I have found if you listen to these enough times they work well with studying/writing papers. Really gotta get used to it
story of me life. But i cant stop listening.
+pattbateman Definitely! I can not read a paper or write on my research without good techno sets.. It helps me to focus on my work and to forget everything around me. Because of this I love my work. I can combine it with music.
he is such a good DJ, impressive mixing, love track selection as well. SVEN YOURE THE MAN!
TOTALMENTE TE HACE VOLAR
I absolutely love the koze/herbert track
the 2nd?
1:09:00 to 1:10:00 is a master class in subtly removing a loveable but annoying obstacle (the guy in the white t-shirt), and causing no offence whatsoever. True class.
...and then Michail Stangl turning around to put a sticker on him at 1:09:33. Lovely.
Smooth, indeed.
Back in the 90's I heard a interview of Swen Vath and he said he had done raves where he would dj 24-36 hours...🏁💫
The old heads definitely did that yeah
This has to be my favourite Boiler Room set. Sven is a true master, his tune selection is perfect and his mixing effortlessly simple. He doesn’t over use effects because he doesn’t need to. All you need for a great set is already there
Cant believe this was almost 4 years ago, feels like yesterday. Time flies...
This is maybe the best Boilerroom set there is!
I agree!! I always come back to this set when looking for new Boiler Room sets.
Those comments are great, first time for me listening to this set, and the looking forwardness is ..... HUGE .... :-) seen him a few times, he rarely disappoints .... great guy, great emotions ....
+1
it's the best *thing* ever, full stop. Whatever you usually listen to,
whatever 'tribe' you think you belong to, if you don#t find yourself
dancing to this involuntarily, you are an empty soulless shell
I remember the first time I watched it live… and still the same emotions! A timeless set!
What a quality set…. Even after 10 years after I’m still melting listening to it
7 years later... Still among the best
Never heard of this DJ before but this set is AWESOME, and his personality seems to match that.
Techno Papa
😅
I'll wait. 😮 I'm not exactly finished yet, thanks. 🎉🎉
this set is nuts lol, bout the hour mark shit starts getting real hot n heavy, great stuff
From here on out, this set will be known as the "Hot N Heavy" set
So I believe sven is following the trend rather well; not conservative but carries on the tradition.
bomseven I think it comes down to environment dj is in if he sensed that crowed wanted faster bpm he would go for it and make it wild.
bomseven Or his 140-150 trance of the early 90s :D. I like him in all his 'eras' so to say.
Deep Chunk i agree totaly with ue opinion, and not only for Sven but for others also such richie ,maya jane coles...
Still listening to this 8 years later and so excited at the prospect of Papa Sven touring India!
Ahah same !
10 years later ... And that's how it's done. Kudos!
I’ trying to listen this set every moring going to work and the day literally start better.
Soul food🤗
Damn how time flies.. 11 years later, still one of my favorite sets.
This remains one of the best. I love Sven.
The best mix of history. Pure mental trip.
Fantastic, he is always showing his best and with the most generous attitude possible.
He gets it. So should everyone else
probably the best set of whole boilerroom hands down.
