    What a gorgeous, graceful glider! It is so enjoyable and relaxing to watch you fly your gliders over this seaside bluff. They seem like living things, especially when they approach you for a hand capture - and "capture" seems like too strong a word for how they appear to float willingly into your hand.

    Another exemplary video, Sir. Your introductory commentary this time is particularly valuable. Building the fuselage in halves on a flat surface is a brilliant technique and excellent construction tip for the lesser gifted builders and mere mortals such as myself. Your remarks on the flight characteristics of the model and flying conditions at the time are equally invaluable. As usual the filming and flying were premium quality, no surprise there. I think I'll mention again how much your shared preliminary observations add to the overall video, as well as the close up views of the gorgeous glider. To say that your productions are inspirational is an understatement of epic proportion. Eternal respect and gratitude. Merry Christmas!

    Which airfoil do you use for your designs?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  4 роки тому +3

      I don’t tend to get overly worried about choosing the perfect airfoil. Even on a gentle day, my local slope produces lots of lift. I think I just used a variation on a ClarkY with a very slight bit of undercamber.

    Hi John great flying can I pick up brains I am having trouble with loss of signal on couple of my planes & they start behaving erratically ending in a crash I use the same recivers inall planes . My radian is fine no problems & that has the same type of reciver as rest I have spectrum transmitter & reciver cheers

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  3 роки тому

      Hi there, make sure that your receiver ariels are nice and straight and lined up. There is a range-check function on Spektrum transmitters. It will be interesting to see if you are getting the same range on all your receivers. I recently threw away a receiver because the plane kept glitching in the air. When I did a range-check on the ground it was only getting about 1/4 of the range it should even with fully charged batteries etc.

  • @dooleyfussle8634
    @dooleyfussle8634 4 роки тому

    Sorry to ask a newbie question, but how do you move the control surfaces to get the glider to slew to one side. I know there is a proper name for this manuever and that it is frequently used in gliders. I am trying to learn to fly in a flight sim and can't quite work out what to do. Love your videos, also the build tips in this one.

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there. This glider is probably slightly different to the ones on your flight sim, as it’s only rudder and elevator control. I can get it crabbing along the slope using the rudder, as the wind is coming up the slope. I’m not sure if that’s what you mean..

    • @dooleyfussle8634
      @dooleyfussle8634 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it's that crabbing movement I'm after. It's when you are moving parallel to the edge of the slope then turn the plane quickly toward the sea (downslope) but instead of heading down it continues to slew sideways for a second or two in the same direction it was previously heading. Almost like throwing a sportscar into a 4 wheel drift around a corner. I first heard of this "side slip" when reading about an airliner that, after running out of fuel, was taken over by a glider pilot who was able to side slip the plane to line it up with a runway in an abandoned airbase in Gimli, Manitoba. Amazingly, he landed it safely!

    John, do you post the files for such beauties anywhere? The Torpedo and modified 1939 78" Carl Goldberg are exquisite. I've been searching for nice designs but cant make up my mind, going back to these two designs all the time :-)

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately I’m no good at drawing up proper plans. I just tend to draw a very basic outline and then make up all the detail as I actually build it. Something like the Torpedo design is easier to build than it looks, as I just drew out a basic teardrop shape. From there I could work out the size of each circle for the fuselage formers. I then built the top half first, flat on a building board, before removing it and building up the bottom.
