People are out their minds, the reason actually land in the real world has had an increase of price over time is due to it being finite and on the other hand you’ve got a digital online space where you can create as much virtual space as imaginable
It's gonna collapse into glorified advertisement space, people will buy spots for days, then hours then minutes and it will become unusable. When a fully fledged metaverse comes along, it will be through platforms like cyber or spatial, having a home space will be free like email addresses are free today.
Eman, agreed. The main drive for the metaverse is the fact that there is so much stupid money out there and people are willing to throw it at anything that is tech related. Even when it’s pretend property. It’s dumb money spent, but if you get enough dumb money to be thrown at anything. It’ll eventually be worth something.
In theory yes, but physical server capacity is still finite. It depends how much server capacity and performance capability they can invest, also bandwidth for people to connect into. But unlike the physical world. It is far easier to build, modify and move things virtually. So the value could be far lower than physically. And likely there will be so many competition and very volatile, so financial security isn't always stable.
This is so sad. How about we invest all this money into actually bettering our planet. Maybe then we won’t have to escape somewhere else… this is after all escapism.
@Kuldeep D innovation has better things too. Innovation to create robots that cater to hospitals in diagnostics, testing, prescription and treatment will make recovery of patients faster and would not be affected by pandemics or fatigue. This is just one such idea which no one seems to be very interested and spending their time on. So I don’t agree with you that it’s too late.
Why do the developers keep designing cityscapes and plain buildings? You could create something fantastic in this metaverse space, but here we built a plain looking mall... but it has flashing NFT looking pics on the walls. So exciting!/s
They are talking about digital communication. I would argue that it will feel more human to communicate in a 3d space with avatars than on WhatsApp. Don't people get what they mean haha. Put it into context
@@Extazid you’re missing the point, they want you to work, game, socialize on here. What happened to not standing to close to a tv or watching too long bc it can damage our eyes? Yet ppl want to do all of their everyday tasks plugged into a screen bc “it’s looks cooler than WhatsApp”. Bro it’s literally unhealthy and can hurt you physically. It’s too extreme and should be toned down IMO. For example they can be like zoom meeting with filters but not live my whole life in a filter. That’s dystopian
Funny that she's saying that as they show a clip of a person miming in the air with a VR headset while sitting next to another person. Very normal human interaction indeed.
This is disgusting. They want to create an artificial scarcity to make value for themselves while restricting the spatial freedom of the individual. It’s all about power and control. The corporate metaverse is the opposite of what virtual reality is supposed to be

@@p333nt4gr4m Yeah, if your in the lucky 1%. You're essentially gambling. Everyone who buys these digital land has the intention of making money. That's not going to happen though because they have to find someone to buy it for more with the intention of selling it for more. Which effectively makes it a pyramid scheme. That is, unless you get lucky and the platform you purchased digital land in takes off. But their is what, like 10 or 15 companies doing this?
Supply vs demand. They are limiting the supply like linking it to block chains so they can't create more land and because of this the demand is higher than if the game had infinite area. I mean Minecraft has infinite area and the graphics look better, and it even looks like there's more to do. Idk why someone would play metaverse when there's so many better options out there. And if it does become popular some other AAA developer will come in and make a better game to steal the market. Just my 2 cents
My question is: what's stopping me from making my own meta server where I can program in as much or little land as I want, where I want, and when I want? And, why does the location of the land matter when you're able to teleport/fast travel your avatar wherever you want? This whole thing seems ridiculous. There's nothing keeping you from creating virtual space. The expense is in designing, fabricating, and establishing the environment to attract customers. Merchants are better off to rent a store in the Meta walk through shopping district than a farm stand on the backroads of the information highway.
@@miles5600 That's not the point-you still have to develop the property and it takes much more than a server to turn swamp land into shopping malls. Lol
@@drivebyquipper it does not. By the time we’ll be able to even have the graphics for such an environment, we’ll have way more advanced servers. You do not need more than a server now a days, game engines can generate environments never imagined 10 years ago without dev input.
I believe that, eventually, when everyone is used to it and the tech has evolved, all experiences in there will be paid and people will actually pay crypto for it :/
well, it depends on the amount of servers unless it is hosted by users, and I don't think that's a mindset really, I think they just want to make as much money as possible

And who does that remind you of but the Devil himself and the Anti-Christ and system of “The Beast” spoken of in prophecy in the Bible?
Nope. This is based on artificial scarcity, the point of the 'metaverse' is to free us from physical constraints of the type that makes particular geographical locations or adjacency valuable. Only someone who fails to grasp this would bother 'investing' in this. Like with any bubble based on a consensus about value you might be able to make money from it for a while but eventually it will be revealed to have no intrinsic value.
The main product here is metaverse and not the stuff within. They can see that people aren’t too interested in putting their money on headsets and spending time there. So, entice them with the riches.
On the topic of investment, I have been finding it hard deciding what to invest on between mutual funds, real estate, and crypto investment, anyone with ideas to help me with?
This is basically a new iteration of the Pyramid Scheme...none of these videogame real estate assets would have any value if the scheme doesnt put on a show to recruit new investors to prop up and legitimize the values...
I hope this whole metaverse thing crashes beyond repair with a virus or something, and all money invested becomes completely wasted. Stuff like this brings the downfall of humanity so much closer.
It's not going to take off. If you combine all of the people with migraines (quite a lot), epilespy, cataracts, bifocal, glaucoma, vertigo, cluster headaches, etc., I bet this ends up alienating a quarter of the population. And the fact that you might spend $4 or something on a digital sneaker is entirely offensive to the developing world that doesn't earn that in a single day. This is a concept from out of touch tech bros who don't live in reality and don't know people outside their condo gym.
Ok someone tell me why they are dropping millions on a "game" that doesn't even look better than minecraft? I love how this screams the Investor class has absolutely zero perception of quality, as long as they can sell a tall tale that makes them a new type of money they'll lie in order to sell it.
I think it shows just how out of touch people are with reality and real world needs. It is entertainment, and possibly advertisement….or for use as a more entertaining way for service providers to communicate to customers…but it cannot supply basic physical human needs. I hope people understand where to draw a line rather than dreaming for the day they can pack up and move permanently to their perfect digital city.

Don't worry guys, we know they're trying to monopolize this. Remember there will always be a group of people to make things on the internet free and open source. So what if two or three worlds are monopolised , as long there's just one that's open world , unlimited and free that's more than enough for all of us.
That's what I'm thinking. What's stopping me from running my own meta server where I can do whatever I want for myself and other people I invite to it with no restrictions, DRM, copyright protection, block chain, etc. ? Making servers now isn't that difficult, and there's companies you can pay to run an always up server for you. I guarantee there will be similar companies in the metaverse.
**cough** **Cough** minecraft **cough** **cough** Seriously though, is it not the whole point of the metavverse to give people a chance to congregate? Minecraft can do the same thing, AND you get infinite space!
Few observations/ questions: - If it's a made up digital land, why doesn't every parcel have a great location? It seems stupid to mimic the same location/ geographical issues in the metaverse! - If the companies are going for downtowns in the digital world, isn't it the opposite of 'decentralized' as a keyword they are going for? - there isn't a 'land rush' because you can opt out of the platform that's selling the digital real estate and not buy it. Compare it to the real world where you can't opt out. In the real world, it is a definite finite resource and if you choose to not buy a piece of real estate, you can't 'code' it up. Not against it, but this just looks silly!
- by mimicking the real world we can make people feel at home or at least feel some level of comfort and familarity -of course not why would they limit themselves -by making the fake land seem limited and can run out you would rather want some of it due to fomo even though this isn't important think of people buying the latest phone no point but they still do every year or 2. as long as people will through money at the companies to get this land rented or anything else these companies will do what they know best buy buy buy.

Except new york is a small land parcel that filled quickly, the metaverse can just keep creating more land for as long as people want to keep buying it.
Except just like New York you cant keep building out into the water or make more land. The Mint contracts for these are closed and burned unable to be reopened to ever make more on the contract. This metaverse real estate thing will never work out as long as there isn't one unified metaverse world, and something in the unified metaverse world that provides a unique service unobtainable in the real world.
And THAT'S THE POINT: eventually, forced lockdowns along with imposed carbon footprint punishments/rewards via cryptocurrencies that make a more realistic MetaVerse with more paid gateways insanely profitable to the owners/creators.
The ycant monopolize whole internet :D :D there already are metaverses what are free to use. People will go there and they already started to do it. Example : Second Life has big grows of users, many return and many are young people who come look and very often stay.
The value of a property is mostly determined by its location, supply demand balance and to some degree availability of water resources. The value is enhanced by other intangible factors as view, beauty and perceived growth prospects. I would never buy land in any metaverse, for supply and demand is controlled by an outside entity and hence they reap most the benefits. Metaverse theoretically allows a user to instantly teleport from one location to another, so I may have a residence in a virtual Andean village, but will be able to be present with my colleagues in the virtual meeting room at metaverse NY. So value of location shouldnt matter. And theoretical metaverse land resource is virtually unlimited, hence supply and demand doesnt matter (only to be artificially constrained by Facebook or Microsoft). The land can be constructed with any view as one likes, again constrained for profit by Facebook or Microsoft.
The only way this would be a good investment is if the government gets involved. If they grant monopolies to certain metaverses then the supply could be limited.
not to mention location no longer matter, once i have the building and landscape designed, i can just rebuild it at some other cheaper world or land with few click without worry about labor, materials, regulation...etc.
Yes you are right. I use Second Life and all this is possible there. only limit is your creativity, will and patience. Talk about location determines virtual lands value is big BS in general but gives us hints how meta plans build up their land. It will be predesigned and changes are limited or none. And if location is important then that means teleportation will be limited too...not all people can go everywhere, there will be limitations and rules. So.... who really wants be in that kind world when there are better options what are free or nearly free?
Is there some missing logic here? The reason for real world property value is true scarcity as in there is exactly only so much surface on earth or in certain region. Mean while in a digital space it's virtually limitless.
Their argument that this particular "land" is unique based on the NFT and blockchain tech which cant be replicated and has limit since the number of its underlying blockchain is capped.

We haven't been able to fix our societies in the real world and now these people 'venture' to 'new universes' that only people with money have access to. This is a great way to keep social inequalities unchecked and to ignore real problems like climate change. I feel so proud of being a human being 🙄
But what I don't understand is the economic purpose? What do these metaverses accomplish other then for a video game entertainment that people may or may not lose interest in overtime? Atleast real world real estate is tangible and you can live in it.
Metaverse is a new form of E-commerce and Entertainment. It's not going to change but upgrade our day to day life and our habit of how we consume the internet. The real world will stay here, and technologies will evolve. Some companies will benefit from it, just like when the internet was first introduced.
Only Humans would take an infinite space that doesnt exist in the real world and start owning it to charge others. Even the metaverse isnt safe from life’s depressing bs.
I think it would be really interesting if Metaverse became the virtual connection to the real world. Essentially, you could visit the actual store virtually, and buy products that ship to your location. Have services provided to you on a real time basis, with a 3D world of 4k - 8k. Video conferencing in your avatars. Playgrounds, gaming grounds, cryptocurrency etc etc, the future is most likely very virtual and I'm actually excited for it. It will probably take over 10 years though as just like the optimists thought the driverless car would be here, it is not after a decade.
A virtual playground???? It may be all that we have left after children’s real world muscles have atrophied from lack of physical world exercise. But the avatar will appear physically fit I suppose.
I'm sure companies will start doing that especially when drones start delivering 1-day deliveries. What I'd like is for me to have an avatar that truly reflects my body and face, and then try on clothes in VR that will fit me in that exact way in real life, then purchase it in VR and get it shipped to me in real life. Video conferencing in avatars already exist. Entire office spaces for meetings, presentations, co-working environments etc
I HAVE INCURRED SO MUCH LOSSES TRADING ON MY OWN...I TRADE WELL ON DEMO BUT I THINK THE REAL MARKET IS MANIPULATED... CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT OR AT LEAST TELL ME WHAT I'M DOING WRONG ?

So basically we will all end up living in the Metaverse (Matrix) where all human beings will end up in a computer program. Basically wearing that VR headset is the beginning and then we will end up in a pod and the machines will drain us up for battery energy.
What's stopping people or rather big companies to create their own virtual world, and what's stopping companies to create unlimited space in virtual world so practically price of property is worth is 0
Yup like I literally set up my own "virtual world" (read Minecraft server) last night in 30min. I'll sell you an infinitely large plot of land on it for all your life savings. You can't put a price on infinite can you?
Population control....CONTROL..
Skip to 2:10 they’re limiting property
The main difference is that we actually live on the land we buy in the real world....
Wait till they find out server space is virtually unlimited.
Then they artificially limit space to create scarcity
Not unlimited, even BF 2042 server cant hold more than 100 player simultaneously
We also got moon , Mars e.t.c . So our land in real life is also nearly infinite.

Few observations/ questions:
- If it's a made up digital land, why doesn't every parcel have a great location? It seems stupid to mimic the same location/ geographical issues in the metaverse!
- If the companies are going for downtowns in the digital world, isn't it the opposite of 'decentralized' as a keyword they are going for?
- there isn't a 'land rush' because you can opt out of the platform that's selling the digital real estate and not buy it. Compare it to the real world where you can't opt out. In the real world, it is a definite finite resource and if you choose to not buy a piece of real estate, you can't 'code' it up.
Not against it, but this just looks silly!
- by mimicking the real world we can make people feel at home or at least feel some level of comfort and familarity
-of course not why would they limit themselves
-by making the fake land seem limited and can run out you would rather want some of it due to fomo even though this isn't important think of people buying the latest phone no point but they still do every year or 2.

@@oraclejoe3471 Thanks for sharing and contributing to this discussion.
I ask Why would you be surprised? Everyone should do their research and due diligence before making any investment, regardless of asset/ liabilities.
NFT (Non-Fungible Token) have an inherent flaw since digital asset can be replicated as many times as possible, just copy and paste or print screen. Even then, our current laws have not been extended to recognize digital asset on any blockchain, thus devoid of any protection from theft, counterfeit, etc...
@@truongngo4786 You are absolutely correct, there is price volatility. But when you have volatility, then you have increase market participation. That means more people are moving money in this asset class. We might be in the early stages of blockchain technology industry, but this is just to point out the potential. Everything in the crypto-market is overvalued.
@@dool1002 Two things you should know.....
1. If u think NFTs are limited to just images of monkeys on the profile pics then you need to do more of that DYOR.
2. An asset will only tank in value if people are able to sell the said copy pasted assets somewhere else and saturate the market with lower prices. Blockchain essentially prevents that. Not saying NFTs are not overvalued but just pointing out that 'print screen' does not replicate the asset on the blockchain.

Yeah that's the real Metaverse.

Why you need transition between different companies...hmm... maybe only into some game platform but real metaverse already has games inside it...aaaa.... so that you can go and shop with avatar those virtual goods from companies who made it and brand them....despite how poor they look but only bc they have logo on them? It is hard to maintain good quality in products if avis will wander from world to world what are owned by different comapnies so quality should be low to at leas be able to keep that product visible......why would anybody do this kind stupid thing? It even isnt troll level fun. I prefer good designed enviroment with high quality graphics and high quality items what i can wear or use. Just now my eyes bleed if i look what they have made in meta and i bet they have used professional creators.... and it is still so bad.
they are anticipating that all rich people will own land, and the poor will rent and only "enjoy" things in the metaverse lol
This is such a scam- if you want "real estate" you need a solid player base. The only reason to play this game is to buy/sell land, so why wouldn't I just play a real game/verse that actually provides something else.

It’s literally the matrix lol. It’s not reality but we’re living in it like it is
The ycant monopolize whole internet :D :D there already are metaverses what are free to use. People will go there and they already started to do it. Example : Second Life has big grows of users, many return and many are young people who come look and very often stay.
5000 what?...unicorn oil barrels full of rainbow power? Where can u spend crypto? 99.999% of real world establishments don't honor it.
Your som should live real life and not Fake virtual one
For all we know they would create parallel worlds and sell same land multiple times. 😂
not to mention location no longer matter, once i have the building and landscape designed, i can just rebuild it at some other cheaper world or land with few click without worry about labor, materials, regulation...etc.

In the original concept of the metaverse - in Snow Crash, the whole land was owner by a single organisation. The author saw this coming since 1992. I hate how greed destroys some really cool concepts
But that'll be the ultimate destiny of the metaverse, owned by a world government. Not a fun thing when it happens tho.
Land in a digital world is just like Paper currency … they will keep making more!
People were probably saying the same thing about non gold backed currency in 1950s, until it became the norm
At least fiat money is a legal tender, which can be used to trade, & widely accepted. Try trading with a meta verse land after some few years
How is this different from Second LIfe and Linden Dollars? How will it end any differently?
There is difference - adds what follow you everywhere and bots collecting your data for sale.

Why create a virtual land where there is huge disparity in wealth just like the real world? Surely create something that is more equitable if it can be designed as such?
That’s a very humanist question to ask, unfortunately, the owners / creators of this metaverse aren’t interested in equity or recreating a better world. They just want new avenues of making money
Money is just a transaction item, as long as your goal is to earn more money, you will never get rich.
This is just a hype. Similar concepts had happened on virtual world of various games in gaming industry since 90s and is still on going. The idea of virtual land is not new, there is a game called archeage where the land is finite, but they can keep adding multiple servers, the problem is people that who did not get the land after a while people stopped playing the game when the server starting to get empty and they merge it to save cost, but in fact, the finite land in the new server cause a snowballing effect. So the same questions can be asked of the metaverse, if the land is finite then people won't be using metaverse, if the land is infinite, it's worthless.

Cool video game, the metaverse - but let´s not forget taking care of the real world in the process.
How about we sit in our basements blindfolded to the real world and handicapped for the rest of our existence? 🙄 Oh, wait, that’s the same thing.
4k-8k graphics 😅😅😅 Did you ever saw Shitbook VR graphics? They can't reach 320p 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man i can't wait to live in this 480p world
