I have an interesting idea for a lesson, how about a tutorial on Second Solo (unofficial) in Wish You Were Here? Gilmour played it during "The Reunion Live", it's pretty great, and nobody had made a video about it yet.
Marty Music hey there is this really spectacular song called remember you by pluto ft beatenberg plz marty if you could jst teach it in on acoustic i will really appreciate it thank you
as a barely intermediate player who can play this song, you're comment insisting only advanced players can play this certainly is an ego booster for me lol. thank you!
Oh my, I've been waiting for this in forever. This is my father's favourite song, Knoplfer is his favourite guitarist and I really want to play this for him. Thank you Marty so much for giving me this chance!
Marty: You are a wonderful teacher. I've wanted to get "the lick" from this song for years. I saw Mark Knopfler in Las Vegs a few years ago (if he's close, go see him); the place erupted when he played it. Thanks for the breakdown.
I truly appreciate your teaching style. You're slow enough that I can follow but I don't feel like you're talking to someone who hasn't played the guitar before. Just the right speed, with lots of helpful repetition. And you are very clear in what you're saying--no stumbles or mumbles. Thanks, Marty!
Finally my dream ends and reality dawns. I'm now pretty sure of playing it ...thanks a ton Marty. The lucidity with which you play and break it down makes it I M POSSIBLE from "impossible". Iconic and immortal solo now amazingly simplified.
Having watched many tutorials on this outro solo, I find yours one of the better ones. Specifically, I like the way you deal with shapes making the phrases. They appear sensible and what an English guitar player would actually play. i.e. simple chord shapes and phrases picked quickly and efficiently. Excellent video - thank you Marty.
I finally learned this after two years of playing the first one i had after 7 months but this really took some time! I love you marty! Started about that time two years ago as an adult guitar beginner! Consistency really is key 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
It dont matter how long it takes to learn buddie it took me couple days to learn the first solo I mean like playing 2 days solid learning constantly only putting my guitar down to eat and sleep! I still go over the 1st solo every day mate
i absolutely love Mark Knopfler's style and I have a lot of fun learning and playing his solos. IMO his stuff is the most fun to play, and other than Stevie Ray Vaughan, I can't think of any other guitarist I can watch play and be totally absorbed in it!
Thank you Marty, I've learned so much from you. Not only the solos but different styles and vibes of playing. Fun and easy-to-follow lessons. Love your work, keep it up man
Nice lesson. You helped me with the final solo. There was a little bit that I had trouble with but your repetition in the demo made it possible for me to own it. I love this son. Thank you
Marty, you are perfect for teaching guitar for thickos like me, You explain every bit of detail note for note and not assume we know all the rest. Not only do show us once or twice but you show us three times and you do it really slow so we can actually see where your fingers are going. If you still can't play a song once Marty has shown you, you might as well do a Jimi Hendrix, pour petrol on it and set fire to it. That's all I wanted to say. Cheers, Marty.
Marty you are an inspiration to us all. I can't thank you enough for all your amazing videos. I'm happy to say I'm now getting my master's degree in classical guitar and I can thank your videos for helping me pave the road for my professional guitar career. Thank you so much for everything you've done and it would be absolutely amazing to meet you one day. THANK YOU!!! Elliott
Marty thanks so much for this lesson... I learned this long ago but was hitting my head against the wall trying to play that fast lick right at the 10th fret You broke it down beautifully it's still a work in progress but at least I know how it's supposed to be...I've been a big fan of yours for a long time...I have even said you are a GOAT given all the teaching you have done on guitar...which in blooms taxonomy it towards the top of the pyramid ...You're a little grayer now than you were 15 years ago but you haven't lost a step...Thanks for all the great years....
Thanks Again for another FANTASTIC Lesson !! Sultans of Swing has Always been on my "MUST LEARN " Guitar Solos of All Time. I pretty much knew all of the licks and stuff but not the SOLO itself. There is some pretty tasteful stuff goin on in that whole song and You broke it down wonderfully!! Thank You So Much Marty!! You ARE The MAN!!😎👍
Thank you Marty for finishing up Sultan of swing what a great jam !!! Loaded with riffs and phrases groovy rhythm great tempo .. really had fun finishing up part two.... very nicely Done dude!!!!
Mr Marty thank you for being so patient teaching this lesson step by step. Please I request a lesson on guitar rhidem in the future same song.Thank you Sir respectfully submitted.
For it to be exellent it would need to be played in the actual and _same_ phrasing with rhythm at half speed or third speed as the original. Marty shows the right notes slowed down but the phrasing and rhythm becomes a mess. But since he does show the right notes: 8/10 and muchas gracias from me to the man.
Hey Marty, loved this song since day one. Thanks for the lesson. After listening to the songs you play since the mid 60's it's nice to have someone to jam with besides my looper. Thanks
Thank you so much Marty for this great lesson. I really appreciate your positive personality especially these crazy days. Your videos help make the quarantine life a little easier. Thank you!
Hey Marty and comment readers. Feeling rather grateful to have guitar and music in my life. After learning about the local drive here for toys-for-tots and learning that every year they have a shortage of gifts for teenagers for families in need I've decided to buy a starter guitar and donate it. I thought maybe some others who feel comfortable with a $50-$100 (cheap guitars are how most of us started) holiday contribution might think about doing likewise for a local organization near you. Think about how appreciative a local teen in need could be to get the opportunity to focus on something positive like music. Just for your consideration. In any case rock on Marty and Marty fans/students.
GUYS, the muted sounds, just use the middle finger for the tones and mute lightly all other strings with your index finger! Because you will also eventually bend the last tone with the long finger. This is how I btw play muted strings for can’t stop by RedHotChiliPeppers.
Please, please, please Marty show us how to play Spooky by the Classics IV. Love learning guitar from you man. Thanks to you I have a skill I thought I'd never learn.
There's a solo starting around 6.50 to 7.00 in their alchemy live performance. Even though this site is years old, i think that the solo there is really cool, and would like to hear a breakdown ☺️ - This one helped a lot
I would be really happy to see a tutorial for send me on my way/I’ll follow you into the dark/all star. Thanks a lot! I really like your teaching and I’m learning guitar almost exclusively from your channel since my very beginning. Keep up the good work!

I’m actually left handed but learned guitar righty and as a result my picking hand always feels a little goofy. I have better control just using my fingers instead of fumbling with the pick

Knopfler is an absolute genius. My favourite guitar song ever made. Every lick is just perfect
Every lick is perfectly layered across each chord transition being played. It's magical in it's complex simplicity if that makes sense 😂
" Lets make a song any drunk person can sing kareoke, but need to be an advanced player to cover. " -Mark Knophler, probably.
Oh shit! I'm advanced! Thanks for the motivation!
as a barely intermediate player who can play this song, you're comment insisting only advanced players can play this certainly is an ego booster for me lol. thank you!
I'm reporting u for insulting drunks
Play well*
That one lick at 6:50 might be in my top 3 fav things knopfler has ever played
Just wanted you to know you're still helping folks learn these licks years after you post em. Thanks for all you do brother!

I would not have the patience to go through this as carefully and meticulously as Marty. Bless you, you saint

Martyyyy after just about 13 years of playing guitar your lessons are still the best 🙏 thank you for still doing them
You can see the joy on his face playing this master peace
Mark Knopfler makes that finger style look so easy. Lots of fun with this one Marty. Thanks.
You really appreciate how epic the whole solo is when trying to learn it. Some awesome licks in it!
Thank you Marty, I've learned so much from you. Not only the solos but different styles and vibes of playing. Fun and easy-to-follow lessons. Love your work, keep it up man
