This is the BEST cooking video I’ve ever seen-your excitement, the authentic process of making the paste, your commentary, and the family.... LOVE THIS!
Aside from the amazing cooking, I like when he kinda keeps asking mom for approval and also says in Thai "Khob Khun Krap Mae" which means Thank you mom! it adds more warmth to the recipe :D
Mark - I was waiting the whole day today just to watch your new video. I had a fairly sad week and just looking at your smile makes me feel so better. We need more people like you who can make the world a better place just by their positivity. Much love and respect for you.
Looks so awesome! When I was in the Air Force, many of our older squadron mates had been stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict and consequently had Thai wives. We would regularly enlist these ladies to cook their traditional Thai food for party's we often had. Their green curry, and Pad Thai and especially their Thai beef salad were some of the best food of my life! Love to Thailand, their wonderful people and their most amazing food!
Your love and excitement while helping your mother in low and calling her mom with your cheerful face, it's really shows so much love and respect. Hope many guys find such a mother in low to cooperate with, this is how the value of the family and society become strong👍🙌
I have to say THANK YOU Mark for the step by step video in such authentic way! I make 6 pots worth of green curry paste at once and freeze them in glass jars. Now it’s so easy to make Thai green curry in no time, anytime! I love this video!
I know this is an older video, but Thai Green Curry is my absolute favorite!!!! I've had it at restaurants and have tried to make it at home... It's SO hard to find the ingredients where I live now... but I do the best I can when a craving comes. Plus, I feel like I make it better than any places that serves it by me. Lol
I had a go at making this, substituted the Gallangal with Ginger. I fried the paste in a little coconut oil before adding water and added a splash of fish sauce instead of salt. The aroma from the paste was out of this world! I will definitely be making this recipe again and again and again! Thanks Mark, Ying and gorgeous Micah. :)
This is one of my favorite youtube recipe of all time! I made it 3 times now (with all made green curry paste) and it is by far the best green curry I've eaten ever! This is the only recipe where I see to boil the green curry paste and the chicken in water without any coconut cream and it makes all the difference ! Thanks a lot to you and you mother in law !
It can’t get more authentic than to see your accomplished mother-in-law cooking for her family. Khob khun mak mak krub 🙏🏻 [Greetings to you all from Northern Ireland ☘️]
Day by day I wait for your uploads and love every one of them keep it up. Have to say I had to pulled out the mortar and followed your mother-in-law recipe and on purchase of the goods needed it worked out expensive here in England but by God it was worth every penny! me the wife and our 3 kinds loved it, Many thanks to you and your mother-in-law.
Just made the recipe. I added double the cumin seed and coriander seed from the written recipe to match the amount seen in the video. Also, I looked everywhere for the kafir lime and couldn't find one so I used the zest from 2 limes instead. Couldn't find the cilantro root anywhere as well so I chopped up a handful of cilantro and hoped for the best. This recipe was fantastic, we are weak when it comes to the spice so I added more of the coconut cream to help make it less spicy (I added 20 of the green chilis based on what I saw in the video). Thanks again for taking the time to go step by step so I could follow along.
I grew up in a modern Thai family and we only use the ready-to-use paste for our curry. I've been looking for the video showing how to do the paste from scratches like this for pretty long, this video is really useful, thank you.
Thank you Mark and to your mother- inlaw for sharing this recipe, this is what i've been waiting for a long time, i just don't know the name of this dish, again thank and God bless! Hope you could share more resipe's
I am Thai.I can guarantee that this video is so authentic because even in some Thai family they cut so many processes of making green curry. Right now I move to US your channel make me alive. I miss real Thai food so much.I always watch your channel while I’m eating.
Thai Cooking is quite similar to African cooking. So much flavour and Goodness. We also use pestol and mottar for alot of our recipes. Keep it up Mark. Love your channel.
This would be much better if you fried the paste with the coconut milk until you see the oil. Then threw chicken and eggplants in and fried until they cooked; then water and salt. It gives super strong fragrance :)
Love the at home cooking videos, more, more, looks delicious, good old fashioned home cooking we never measure its ingrained from memory of doing it over and over. Love it
Mark: Thank you for your awesome videos! Please don't lose your individually. I love seeing Micah grow and both he and Ling are welcome additions to your vlog! By including your family and way of life I feel like I am a real part of your culture.
Thank you so much. This is so therapeutic after getting PTSD from watching Jamie Oliver's version of Thai curry.Thank you for showing us how to make it the right way.
You are so enthusiastic, I love it. It almost sounded like you were narrating a nature documentary, but instead it was your mom in law helping you cook 😂😂
I lived in Thailand for a decade. I'm not here to tell you or any Thai person that in Thailand authentic means mom to mom recipe of otherwise a national dish. So what the audience and I are witnessing is the best representation of that, thank you for inviting us in to your kitchen On the chanel, I come here from time to time to get a dose of positive energy, that's what Mark's radiant energy in any vlog provokes, thank you brother. Yes... I would've chopped some fingers off with that! I've tried to cut onions with it & chef's knife is more comfortable for me. That thing is an extension of her hand/arm!!
I love old school cooking, growing up in Hawaii and learning to cook from my parents and grandmom. I started cooking at age 10 for our family of ten. Mark & Ying you guys are awesome. Thank you for sharing of what you do. Micah is just the cutest. Claudette from Folcroft, PA

10 years ago when I was living in LA I used to go to a place in Thai Town called Surmitt Thai (I believe I spelled that right). They had authentic red and green curries that tasted like nothing I've ever had before. Super spicy, chunks of coriander root in the green curry, Thai eggplant, lime leaves, etc. They had fish ball green curry as well as a super hot catfish curry of some kind that I loved to eat but would wreck my stomach. Thanks for the great show of my favorite food!
I can only agree with you. The best green curry I've ever eaten was in Thai Town, LA, not even in Thailand itself. The vid is great though and inspires me to cook green curry at home. ;).
love how thick and rich Mae makes her curry. my mom makes it the same way. I've been to thai/Lao restaurants where I've had to ask them to serve me the food that's not on the menu lol food that they are eating in the back. nothing like home made food

I spent so much time finding ingredients in Korea and ordered most of it. So excited to make this at home!!! I only had thai green thai one time so I am not sure if I will make it good pounding. Every night I dream about cooking this thai green curry. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
I can't get most of the ingredients here in western Tennessee so I buy pre packaged green curry paste. Had to order kaffir lime leaves and red Thai chili peppers online from Amazon. No Thai eggplant so I'll substitute bamboo shoots. Nearest Asian food market is Nashville 2.5 hours away. Looking forward to an exotic meal for our church Christmas party next Sunday. You have a beautiful wife and child. Your mother-in-law reminds me of my mother-in-law who passed in 2017. My Filipino wife and I have been married 31 years. We've been to Bangkok back in 2001. I prefer Thai food to Filipino food which I find somewhat bland. I love Thai, Chinese and Indian cuisines for their spicy and fragrant dishes. Enjoy Thailand my friend, you are a lucky man!
I am using these spices by pounding for the first time in my life. Food is better. Thanks Mark. Curry is daily in my house. Excitement has come back to cooking.
