- This is a quick layout overview of the progress so far after two years of building this model railroad. It is mostly scratch built. I have reached the half way mark of a 26' x 2' shelf style layout depicting several signature scenes inspired by the prototype SRY Rail Link (Short Line) in British Columbia, Canada.

Every time I watch it seems like you've added several more feet onto it. And what I find the coolest is that each little area seems like it tells its own story, like there is an idea behind everything.
It is indeed a story of all the influences and experiences gleaned from walking the railroad, etc. Cheers ~ Boomer.
The Mona Lisa of model railroading
Lol . . . Hey Charles. How are you? Cheers.😁
@@boomerdiorama If you ever decide on a new project and dismantle this to sell. PLEASE give me first crack!!
Art in 3D, outstanding !
A 3D canvas for me! Thank you! ~ Boomer.😁
Thanks for your sharing my friend
Thank you too!
Next level modeling. Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very realistic track and scenery....
Thanks. It feels cool to operate on it as well. ;-)
As Tina Turner would say "Simply the Best" Fantastic work of art. Ray L
Thank you Ray. Cheers.
And then there was life. Wow! Awesome work Boomer. Cheer's JV
Lol . . . yes . . . of course . . . "life." Thanks for reminding me. ;-) Cheers.
A masterpiece!
It feels huge for a small layout.
Always impressed with your work
Thank you! Cheers!
Incredible detail. I don't see any woodland scenics fine turf. I'd love to learn what you used for the grass it looks amazing
Thank you! I don't use the foam much for scenery. I may use it for some tree flocking, but never as ground cover. It's mostly sifted natural soils and static grass, etc.
Great layout - nice music too.
Many thanks! Thanks for the sub! Cheers ~ Boomer.
Looks cool.
Thank you!
And it’s actually inside the house! It’s just that prototypical! Mesmerizing work! 👏👍
;-)
Stunning....absolutely amazing....
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazingly realistic scenery ! The rolling stock could stand some weathering in such a setting.
The stock is brand new.
There are no words, simply outstanding!
Fun and also very involved.
The new concrete warehouse looks great. And I see the Pile o' Ties is in place along with some tall grass. Very realistic, as always, Boomer. Cheers from Wisconsin!
Thanks 👍
love that 153 loco. weathered im sure. looks great. and love the mess around 0:27 looks realistic. wood pallets. tires etc etc
Thanks 👍
It looks like an aerial drone shot. Great model, exceptional camera work! 😃
Cool! Thanks for sharing!
I’m planning on a layout that is essentially all shelving, so this is very inspiring
Pretty new tankers. Nice. Love the power poles. Those are really fabulous.
Athearn Genesis rule the Tanker category. 😁
Love your layout you really do great work , I hope mine when I get round to starting it will be half as good.
Have fun!😁
great video, love that music, that music the same used by Roy from Panama City
😁👍
Brilliant and inspiring as ever, someones got some tank cars to weather!
. . . and no time to paint them . . . lol.
I love your work you do on your layout. Is your TREES that get me and your MONTANA RAIL LINK Locomotive😀😃
SRY did acquire several locomotives from Montana.
Yep, I see the mistake now... 😆, fantastic work as usual 👏
😁🤣😉
Full of pretty little details ! great work !
Thanks a lot!
Your works have become an inspiration for me! Thank you very much, what you are doing is admirable!
Happy to hear that!
Looks great! 😍🥰
Thank you! 🤗
Nice. I've never seen some of theses details shown here such as the large culvert and the tire tracks in the mud near the small culvert.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What, no power line strings for the cat to play with? 😸 (ya know, if you tension the power line strings just right the cat could play you some royalty free music on them ...) Seriously though, looks grand. Am glad YT suggested the video.
I do talk about power lines soon in the Warehouse Scene Final. ;-)
Incredible detail. Congratulations on your layout, beautiful indeed.
Thank You.😁
That’s awesome!
Thanks!
Boomer, Your attention to detail is over the top!
I try . . . ;-)
Best I've seen
;-)
Beautiful, one of the best out there!
Wow, thank you!
Thanks
Awesome! Thank you Peter. I appreciate your support. Cheers ~ Boomer.
one thing ill add most do.
the tops of woods ties' are seldom clear free from ballast. always always RR ties covered in ballast. and the tracks outside has a line of lube oil in the ballast. nice job..
@@boomerdiorama I'm saying many ties are covered in ballast. not clear.
Not sure what you mean? I have hundreds of photos from this short line with ties ballast free. Absolutely no ballast on the ties in many cases - not always. Besides, I find ballast on ties with model railroads never looks right to me anyway. In fact, it looks like sloppy modeling. 😁

Outstanding !! I've been watching your vids for quite some time. Seeing the SRY is your railfanning road of choice, I have a question about the actual prototype. Where is the barge traffic arriving from / departing to ?? Is it all Vancouver Island ?? How much barge traffic/car count is there ?? Is that the only barge slip they serve ??
The barge traffic goes to Vancouver Island (SVI) Southern Vancouver Island Rail Link. It is mostly Petroleum and Fertilizer. The period I model is around 2000-2012 so they also ship other commodities like grain, lumber, heavy equipment, etc. They also serve other "paper" mills, logging camps as well up the coast.
@@boomerdiorama Speaking of paper mills, is that what the SRY's 9400 series red Catalyst high cube boxcars transport? We see them a fair amount with MRL high cube boxcars down here on the MRL through Helena.
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing (!)
. . . and fun! Thank you!
And you don’t have to blow it up!😊😄😆🤣😜 like in a movie scene.
Lol . . . yup . . . she's a keeper! 😁👍
👍👌Splendid
Thank you!
Hey Boomer, have you make any tall pine treesÉ. The loblolly pine type that has long trunks then foliage at the very top. Did you make the foliage at the top as one piece and then attached it to the tall trunkÉ Thanks.
You can do that if you want. Just twist limbs in at the top of the trunk. Look up some photos and model from those.😁
The dead trees on the riverbank we're very realistic
bob ross of model trains
Thank you. Lol . . . Bob Ross was awesome to watch as well. 😁
Where’s the damn boat? I wanna see boat!
This fall.🤣
No people on ground or in loco’s, no wires connecting poles, all equipment needs weathering…..it’s getting there.
1. "No people on ground or in loco’s" (No need for "lifeless" Mannequins on my layout).
2. "No wires connecting poles" (Wires and poles get damaged during construction).
3. "All equipment needs weathering" ( Not interested right now).
Cheers ~ Boomer.
