I enjoy your videos so much. I know the work that goes into vlogs and sewing and appreciate your commitment. I recently have to go back to an office setting and your video was very timely. Lovely curation of patterns and your style is spot-on for me. (Wish the Dune tank was still in print). I have to make similar adjustments as you. I’m not force fitting either and have committed to Cashmerette as basics to use to Franken-pattern piecing;) Love you!
Awww, thanks so much! Yes, I agree the Cashmerette patterns are definitely good basic bases to start off with. I'm with you...no more forced fitting - LOL! Have fun building up your work wardrobe.
Enjoyed your video! I’ve not sewn for myself in several years because nothing seems to fit and I can’t find the right fabric! You’ve challenged me to rethink and investigate again. After all, I’ve been sewing since I was 14! Thank you again!
Thank you so much for your wealth of information and the time spent filming for us. I have also been watching Sew Custom and she recently suggested McCalls 6886 to me as you mentioned here. The reason being, I've been dabbling into making blocks as she has been doing, only because I am trying to figure out how to recreate a knit pattern from the 70's I've scoured the internet for which had an umpire waist, a sweetheart neck and the dress was the most comfortable and attractive dress I've ever sewed, or worn for that matter, but in the meantime, I am going to be sewing again garments with all the lovely suggestions you have made. Again thank you sincerely
So happy Melinda this was so helpful. I love the idea of doing a block, I think it's nice to have something that truly is specific to your measurements that you can change up. I love what Sew Custom has been doing.
You have an awesome collection of patterns that suit you! I can’t wait to see you make them over time. I specially like the Mc Calls one at the beginning of the video.
Would love to see a pattern stash. Thank you, I never look at Vogue, as a larger lady with specific fit issues with my waist, I never thought I’d find something that fit. BTW, after hearing you talk about it, I finally joined Craftsy, already loving it.
So happy you are enjoying Craftsy, isn't it awesome! There's so much out there, even stuff other than sewing. Definitely look through the Vogue Betzina patterns, they are awesome. I will definitely do the pattern stash video.
Oh yes, I actually just did a haul video where I purchased my first Style Arc pattern, which I'm looking forward to making. I also have a couple Ellie & Mac patterns I just purchased earlier this year. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Lynn, thanks so much for watching, I actually have a video series of all patterns in my stash, you can start here ua-cam.com/video/5iuMihk_7PU/v-deo.html and Video 1 is linked in that video as well.
Don’t forget Patterns for Pirates and Made for Mermaids, as well as George & Ginger for plus size patterns, in case any of your viewers are interested 😃. For me Cashmerette is my fav, always great styles, great range and the instructions are phenomenal. Thanks for sharing and the shout out 😘
OH MY GOSH and did you see the Swimsuit Cashmerette came out with?!! I'm getting that for sure once my ban is over. Thanks for mentioning those, I only mentioned ones I own, but there are definitely several I want to get. I have a couple written down from P4P and George & Ginger. Thanks for watching.
Very helpful video Natieda 👍. I love patterns that already have the cup sizes in a good range.....so useful. You have some great ones, and again, I have to say that Easter dress 😍😍 😍......loved it the last time you showed it, and who ever took that wonderful shot of you wearing it caught it just right.....you looked fabulous 👏👍😘
Sally, it was the husband...he caught that money shot - LOL! Glad you found the video so helpful and I agree having the cup sizes is SOOOO helpful and useful. Thank you for watching.
Great video Nateida! BTW, I absolutely adore the fabric of the dress that you are wearing in this video! It is so becoming and complementary of your complexion! I wish I could have gotten the Dune tank before it was no longer available…that was my fault I had it in my queue for a long time before purchasing it! I totally agree with you that the Indie pattern designers really know how to work with them woman’s body and her curves! Even though I’m not full figured, I have a “different“ figure and the Indie patterns seem to work better for me too! I don’t know why it took me so long to start using them!
Thanks so much Myra, actually I'm wearing the Dune Tank instead of the dress in this video. I was a little nervous about Indie at first as well, but I think it's a strong possibility that I have more Indie vs commercial now and I'm totally fine with that _LOL! Thanks so much for watching.
Loved this video. As a plus size sewists, my favorites Indie designers so far is 1PL Miss Ruby Tuesday. I also like Cashmerette, I have the Turner, but will buy the Appleton and maybe the Rivermont. I'm also in the process of checking out Wardrobe by Me, and Pattern Emporium. 1PL has byfar been my absolute favorite!
Thank you so much for sharing your favorites. I don't own any of those currently but Cashmerette that you've mentioned. Just checked them out, I like a couple that I saw. The Caftans on the Pattern Emporium are pretty.
Thank you for sharing, I also have hard times trying to find clothes that fits me because my bust size is DD and what fits me on the bust is larger on the hips and on the waist
Thank you for sharing, very helpful!!! I will be buying Indie patterns, THE SIZING IS THE BEST!!!! IT WOULD BE WORTH THE PRICE DIFFERENCE TO ME!! I DID BUY THE CASHMERETTE APPLETON DRESS, I CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE IT!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! YOU'RE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! BE BLESSED
Thank you Retia, I'll be showing how my Appleton turned out coming up on Sunday, so stay tuned for the Lookbook. Glad you found it helpful and thanks for watching.
I'm not plus size but I always enjoy your videos Nateida:) I have that zip front dress by Sandra Betzina that's on my short list of patterns to sew up, I just love the collar and shaping seams:) Of course I also love McCalls 6886:) I'd be interested in seeing your pattern stash too!
Wow! That was a great vlog full of great fuller figure choices. Now I'm off to find out more about each of them. Oooh my purse is going to get very much lighter. ;-)
I have a few Ashley Neil Tipton patterns for Simplicity. I wish she had more patterns. Though they are a little big for my measurements I love the style and look of the patterns.
Definitely give them a try, it's SOOO much easier to sew the Indies than the commercial, unless you get a commercial one that the measurements cover your measurements.
I 'm so glad you did this review. You always look lovely and confident. I would enjoy seeing your indie stash( only the ones you have actually made).I will definitely try Cashmerette patterns. Do you have any thoughts on Hot Patterns ? I've had great results with Simplicity Mimi G patterns. Many of them are plus size. Keep up the great work. You are awesome.
Hi Lisa, I've not tried Hot Patterns yet, but they've been on my list for a while. I am definitely going to do a video on my pattern stash, though it will include the ones I haven't sewn yet because it will be easier just to show them all. Stay tuned and thanks for watching.
I have been curious about hot patterns for a while now also! I like several of the styles, but can’t find much in the way of “real makes” out there to see how they turn out.
I’d love to see your pattern stash. You mentioned on 2 patterns about the princess seams coming from the armscye, instead of the shoulders. Do you prefer it better, and if so why? I’ve always chose the shoulder princess seam, because I have narrow shoulders I thought it would work better.
Actually, I don't prefer one over the other, but like you I've found (so far) that princess seams from the should would work better for my narrow shoulders as well. HOwever, princess seams in general are great for fitting around the waist and hips. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Diane, thank you! In my more recent videos, I've taken some in person fit classes and have grown in my fit journey and I've talked about that process in those videos.
Have you tried using any of Khaliah Ali patterns with Simplicity??? They are strictly for plus size women. Yes she is Muhammad Ali's daughter. She has been in the sewing game for I know about 10 plus years.
I didn't know that. I looked up the patterns and recognize some of them and didn't realize they are Muhammad Ali's daughter. A majority of them aren't my style, but there was one that I liked that looked like a shirtdress. Thanks for pointing that out. Thanks for watching.
NaturalDane ....sure thing. She also has her new patterns with McCalls now. I know that she has lost weight but check them out. Have a wonderful sewing season. I love watching your videos.
I Love the looks of some of these patterns. My wife will look good in them. Thanks for the info.
Happy to help!
Wow!
So glad I found you.
You've sparked the sewing flame within me. Thank you.
🔥☺️
Welcome and I'm happy to encourage and thank you for watching.

Good video! The more we buy from companies that take plus figures into account, the more likely plus size patterns will be made.
Yep, so true!!! Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed your video! I’ve not sewn for myself in several years because nothing seems to fit and I can’t find the right fabric! You’ve challenged me to rethink and investigate again. After all, I’ve been sewing since I was 14! Thank you again!
Yay Ellen, happy to inspire and just be patient with yourself in the process.

Love the video. Thanks for sharing several indi pattern companies . I was not aware of any of them.
Linda, so glad you found it helpful.
Style arc and Ellie and Mac patterns are great patterns for plus sized figures and they are not expensive in my opinion .
Oh yes, I actually just did a haul video where I purchased my first Style Arc pattern, which I'm looking forward to making. I also have a couple Ellie & Mac patterns I just purchased earlier this year. Thanks so much for watching.

hahahah, don't do to much damage. Excited to hear what you get.
I have a few Ashley Neil Tipton patterns for Simplicity. I wish she had more patterns. Though they are a little big for my measurements I love the style and look of the patterns.
I had picked up a couple of hers, but they aren't particularly my style, so I think I gave them away. Thanks for watching.
Thanks I really appreciate this. I haven’t use any indie patterns, but this video has inspired me to try a few.
Definitely give them a try, it's SOOO much easier to sew the Indies than the commercial, unless you get a commercial one that the measurements cover your measurements.
Great topic Nateida! Nice collection!
Thanks Judith!

Please provide the numbers of your patterns in your description. Thanks.
Hi Diane, in my more recent videos I definitely try to remember to do that more. Thanks for watching.
@@SewNaturalDane Could you please go back and update your old descriptions? Thanks again.
What do you think about Seamwork magazine?
I actually have one pattern from Seamwork and I haven't tried it yet. I'll show it in my stash video I'll show in June.
For a better fit, watch a video entitled "Fitting and Patterns" by Mimi G Style.
Hi Diane, thank you! In my more recent videos, I've taken some in person fit classes and have grown in my fit journey and I've talked about that process in those videos.
