The Edge of Dawn (Seasons of Warfare) (フレスベルグの少女～風花雪月～, lit. Girl of Hresvelg ~Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon~) is the main theme of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The Japanese version is sung by Caro while the English version is sung by Buttercup. The Japanese title of the song indicates that it is sung either about or from the point of view of Edelgard, whose surname is von Hresvelg.

I think the reason why this song does not play at the end of the Edelgard route is because song is about her regret and that route she feels no regret

She doesn’t feel regret because you are supporting her. So I feel like we have a huge impact on the story not just to our class but the lack of us in other classes
There’s a whole cutscene at the end of the final battle with dmitri where she talks to you about how she wished things didn’t have to turn out the way they did. She definitely feels no regret for killing Rhea, but she shows remorse for killing her former classmates
somehow this provokes one of the most touchable stories and emotions i have ever felt in a game or rather for a fictional figure. its weird but beautiful in its innerst core, i love it

It wasn’t until the second verse I realized this was supposed to be Edelgard’s POV. Up until then I thought this song was supposed to be about us the players replaying the game knowing what happens.
I find this though more appropriate, we are the ones who see all the posible endings... Neither of them ends well... Imagine this for a second, by discovering every possible result, Byleth returns at the very beginning, just before after meeting every one and now you are ready, you must find a way to make the best for every single person. Now, you have unlocked the "perfect route"!

My first playthrough was blue lions. After I found out this was Edelgard’s point of view and looked at the lyrics it hit so much harder and made me glad I chose blue lions first.

It hurts knowing that Dimitri wanted to keep Edelgard alive to hope she changes her ways.
But that very moment when the stab noise happened, I knew it wouldn’t be possible.
He risked everything to try once more to convince Edelgard that what she’s done was wrong, but it ended in what seemed like the worst outcome.
But it was the best outcome for the majority of Fodlan.

Don’t care what anyone say Edelgard is the Villain, Claude is the Hero, and Dimitri is the Neutral Party with his own objectives.
I did crimson flower as my first run because I honestly didn't like the church. Even so I feel like I learned more about edelgard during my Blue lions playthrough (My third one) It just hurts so much when I think about Edelgard. Those who slither in the dark set her up so she would have no one but them to turn to to achieve her goals. Making her seem responsible for so much suffering that she had nothing to do with. She watched all of her family die around her because of what they did to her and them. I know it isn't realistic but I really really wish their was rout where I could save everyone. So much misunderstanding and suffering I wish I could be there for everyone but I can't.
That makes this game a masterpiece. If you could save everyone the story wouldn't have any impact. You suffer so much sadness and pain playing the game because you get attached to these characters and every loss matters, by removing set loss the game would lose is brilliant writing.

I think instead of "I have strung on this terrace," it's "I held strong on this terrace," because it fits better w/ the story, but I love this
My biggest inspiration for hearing this song is Rogersbase. Why? Because not only did he do a cover of "lost in thoughts all alone" but when he sings, it is pure heaven on earth, he sings like an angel that I love singing along with. He also knew that Byleth was in smash ultimate and this song played in the trailer. If he could cover this song one day, I would definitely want to do a duet with him.
We need to get matpat on this game's story. For real
It’s a great story, but it’s surface deep. No loose ends, no unexplained actions, just nothing left to interpret/theorize on.

I could understand Edelgard's motives but I think she should have started a three way war, between the Empire, Those who Slither in the Dark, and the Church of Seiros.
Declaring war on the church is the same as declaring war on the Kingdom. It is the "Holy Kingdom of Faerghus," after all. Adding to that, the Alliance would be even more fractured, and some lord's would side with either the Kingdom or the Empire, often changing allegiances on the fly, which would be a diplomatic and militaristic mess. Declaring war on TWSITD would just be confusing because they're a clandestine organization, and Edelgard would be seen as a conspiracy theorist at best and a lunatic at worst if she declared war on an unseen and unrecognizable enemy. Also, why fight a war against the Empire when you're going to lead it? It's like setting your house on fire when you find a mouse in it.
she probably couldnt, if she wants to beat both TWSITD and the church she needs help, the church is too powerful and has the kingdomss help, and TWSITD are hidden and she knows very little of them while they have ties everywhere, her only chance was asking for their help to beat the church, while huberts gathers information so while in power she can finally defeat TWSITD and cleanse fodland from both of the evils that for so long have plagued it.
if she attacked TWSiTD first, she would have no knoledge of what they are capable of or how many of them they are or where are they hiding, and if she attacked the church without their help, rheas dragon form and magic guardians would be to strong to beat

Finally got around to beating Silver Snow. The last route played, and the last route beaten in Maddening. Only now did I really listen to this song, and realize what it meant.
It’s very clear that Silver Snow is the main route, with Verdant Wind being the copy.

I've given it some thought, and after hearing everyone say this Edelgard, I would like to disagree with that thought and I think it would be Rhea or Sothis. Mainly Sothis. SPOILER after Nemesis kills her and she looses her memories, she sees through the eyes of B y l e t h (it keeps autocorrecting) shes sees what was left of her days in the Zanado at Garag Mach. Thats why the lyrics have the chasing rain and tomb in them. That also might be why she wants to "keep cruel fate at bay" for when the moment she has to leave again. The reason it could be Rhea is similar to Sothis in the previous terms, with memories or maybe the fact that she may never be able to realize her dream. It also ties in with the lyrics surrounding as the terrace part in relation to the star terrace you first see her in game. Anyways, sorry for my rambling, just my thoughts on it.

Here’s something that’s kinda interesting: a lot of people say this is Edelgard but I’m not so sure. The only path that does NOT have this as it’s credits song is Crimson Flower, this path is when you choose Black Eagles and side with Edelgard in the Holy Tomb and it’s also the shortest path. I might be wrong I dunno, but still just some trivia then I guess

Neck Bears once again: how does Manuela make any sense? She plays a very minimal role all of the paths, hear the words said person is singing. No one except one of the main characters makes any sense, and it isn’t some random song it’s made for the story FE3H.
