Good to know. One of the things I wanted to add to the vid but didn't get round to was suitable alternatives. So good to have this in the comments. Cheers.
Great video, tune often worth it, tonnes of advantages not just bhp. Did DSG tune on my audi and quite like it but was require with the power increased, not sure what the effects on closed to stock power vehicle.
"It's quite hard to make a N/A car pop and bang" Why is it hard? It's all in the tune. The way it's done is by cutting the spark whilst letting the injectors continue to go so when it hits the hot exhaust manifold it ignites the fuel there causing the pops and bangs. This usually serves no purpose in an N/A car but in a turbocharged car it keeps the turbine spinning allowing the car to stay in boost for between gear shifts. Also as for the rev matching or throttle blipping this isn't done in the engine tune but in the tranmission tune. To see this changed you'll have to get a DSG/TCU Tune.
zero point in NA and just shortens turbo life in forced induction - useful only if your name is Tommi Makinen and you’re thrashing an evo 5 round a Finnish forest stage 🤣
@Jodan I don't no I don't do the mapping but I had custom map file on for 2 years with crackles pops and bangs . 2bh I wouldn't have it again gets annoying
Had mine APR tuned plus K&N air filter dyno results before and after made zero difference. Rolling road guy said it looks like the only difference is the removal of the limiter. Then installed the Scorpion cat back system. Back on the dyno it lost 12bhp with a noticeable loss of low-end torque on the road. Timed using my Dragy 0-60 lost 0.3 of a second. Back on with stock system, sold the Scorpion. Without scientific testing how can you asses the modifications.
One other way to get more power is to put tectonics camshafts, whit the giac software included the camshafts files ,i did on my 2004 wolkwagen r3 at that time with 75.000 mph now at 162.000 still running like a champion, ( but out course) i did all the required factory maintenance and oil change every 4.500 mph the combination between the camshafts and the software the engine really came alive. I saw on my car( speedometer 165 on sixth gear) probably 155 ? Real speed? I don't know, but j think pretty fast for very close stuck engine.
Can't argue with the sound of the 3.2. I'm getting my mk1 225 remapped next Saturday. Can't wait to see what its like. Just had full service and the cam belt water pump etc and the oil pickup pipe and rocker cover gasket done so hopefully all goes well.
Yeh, love the mk1 225. Great cars. See my other vids for my one. Sort of wish I hadn't sold it. Having the 3.2 is great and sounds brilliant but I do quite fancy a TTS so I can give it a bit of tuning!
@@damos_cars This is my 3rd TT 225. I keep coming back and I've never tuned one so I thought I'd get it done this time. Yeh I was maybe looking at getting a mk2 TTS as I could have stretched that far but decided on a mint 84k miles mk1 always serviced by Dane audi and it's got the factory fitted Ms Design body kit who is the company who makes the Votex body kit but it's called Ms design from audi. Happy I made the decision.
Nice info! Thanks for sharing. I wish you had a dragy gps to compare 0-60 times though. I got one for my R32 and they are pretty damn good for the price. Cheers!
Very helpful video thanks Damo! I've just bought the same car as yours as was wondering what order to get modifications done once its had a major service.......
Ah good one. Congrats! I just replaced the centre rear brake light on mine today. Solid cars but a few foibles of things that do seem to go wrong with time.
@@damos_cars Yes funnily enough I've got a fault with my left rear light cluster too. I wondered why you chose APR over the various other tuning companies that claim to get more power out of the N/A 3.2 engine? I'm thinking of doing exactly the same. Exhaust, filter change and remap. Just not sure to go with APR yet.....as so much choice......?
@@richardstantiford9027 so the rear light cluster is a bad earth. You have to wire in a new earth lead to fix, quite common across all Audi’s of this vintage due to poor connection blocks on the unit itself. It’s on my list to do today actually. Lots of vids on how to do it. Previous owner had done the exhaust already and whilst getting other work done at The Phirm VAG specialist I asked for the tune as it’s the one they do. I didn’t sweat comparing lots of other tunes. It certainly feels quick but any newish turbo’d performance VAG product will still beat it. No substitute for the vr6 howl though! See my exhaust vid 😁. @@damos_cars I totally agree Damo! Thanks for light info too! This is my first Audi as mainly owned BMW's previously. I absolutely love both the pull and sound of the 3.2 V6 engine! No substitute for overall driving pleasure in a vehicle of this age I think. I may go with APR as I have a VAG tuning firm called QST near me - even though they say it only gives an additional 10bhp - whereas as Celtic, Quantam etc are offering 20 plus on their remaps for less money. Having said yours has obviously benefited and looks and sounds superb. 👌
@@damos_cars Damo do mind me asking which firm you used to install your APR tune please? I'm also looking for a firm to fit the Scorpian exhaust. Some garages reluctant as the rear valance has to be cut to accommodate quad pipes. Cheers Richard
Have a read of this: www.torquingcars.com/tech-talk/differences-between-vr6-and-v6-engine-layout/ it does a better job of explaining it than I can. R stands for Reihenmotor.

I agree but I think pops and bangs are very 'in' these days and wanted to be realistic for anyone getting this tune done thinking it may mean you get more pops and bangs. Thanks for watching.

You can't, you're right to point this out. However, I'd take a 12bhp hit for the extra drama of the noise from the exhaust.
Interesting. I have been considering this, either a revo or tune at rtech since I had my stainless downpipes, sports cats and milltek fitted
