Randy worked for DEI and builds these motors out of his shop which is behind his house. When we raced back in the late 2000’s to 2012 we had one. I went to Randy’s shop in China grove to pick it up. Pretty cool place. But first night we ran the 430 we had we broke the track record at Dixie speedway here in Georgia. Overton won a few races with a Randy Clarey engine in weavers car. It’s a runner. You won’t be down on motor anymore, my prediction is the Clarey will end up being your favorite out of all the ones you have.

Howdy guys listen hey take your carburetor back off and put a level on your plate and Jack the car back up to where it is level and then check your floats should be set right in the middle of the glass like you would just be running a regular carburetor don't be setting them higher or low just set them in the middle... Good luck guys

Take some white or silver touch up paint and paint in the lettering on the valve covers. If you get outside the lines, just take a razor blade and scrape excess paint off. Makes it look professional. Used to do it on mid plates. Works like a charm!

Randy also worked for Alan Kulwicki as a builder. He’s as good as any of the rest. I’d pick his or a Vic Hill engine any day! Hook the car up and the engine will do it’s part.

It was explained to me (back in the '60s!) that the wedge is to make up for the centrifugal force around the turn that pushes the fuel to the right side of the float bowl. This lets gravity partly make up for it. I suspect that a clear float bowl would reveal fuel sloshing all over the place on a dirt track.

Okay! Not trying to be a downer… But guys you are just buying outdated goods with these engines. With the supply chain what it is these engines wouldn’t be sitting for years. Maybe you tried different channels to acquire a engine. But at some point you are going to have either lease or buy a wide bore Clements,Vick Hill, etc. if you are going to compete at the $50,000 slm shows. Or any Woo, Lucas show in general. Driver has been out performing engines to this point.but the laws of average will eventually get you. Good Luck always pulling for you guys!!!!

You are 100% right. The Big Dogs at Bristol (they are the ones that lift their leg higher and don’t pee like a puppy) won’t be running used engines. HTF doesn’t have an engine program. Do they really need that deluxe Motor Home?

No they don't even with the size of that motor it's still down 40 to 60hp down The top motor guys build a 438ci wide bore motor with more 50hp and about 60 pounds of torque that motor is old plus it set in a shop floor for 3 years that should tell you something.

I'd like to know the difference between the old engine and new engine, e.g.. torque, horsepower and how you now fair with the top competitors, am sure for joesph it will be a new challenge learning to drive the new motor as you will be driving different lines ,all makes for interesting viewing , either way great job and 🤞fingers crossed the engine does what you want it to do. Best of luck hunt the front 🏁🏁🏁

I worked in NASCAR during the sb2 era 1) that oil primer is great(and mandatory) we used to take the belt off the (front mounted) oil pump to prime and 2 you might consider adding a tank(oil) heater to pre-warm your (gallons) of oil both are needed for longevity and performance

I don't exactly know! But I live in Cookeville TN! I see many trucks and haulers go thru and at local dirt tracks, drag tracks! I don't think I would be lying to say I see trailers with numbers and sponsors on the side! From Nascar cup, Xfinity to truck series to local races! I don't understand why I am getting hammered for this! I guess maybe the law says only dirt late models can't do that! Lawn mowing services can! So maybe y'all could explain why dirt teams can't! Rather than question my intelligence! I've been around racing since I was probably 7 going to many asphalt tracks in the northeast from thunder road to beech ridge and the oxford 250 in Maine to modified races in NY , Connecticut, Massachusetts into Canada! So make me look dumb! I'm 51 years old ,I've seen it at all of those tracks! Please explain why it is illegal! Also let me know how many tracks and states you have been to for local racing asphalt or dirt!
