- This is a how sew a misis kolos tutorial. Misis Kolos is a newer version of the traditional style blouse or dress widely known as the meri bouse in Papua New Guinea. This new currently trending style of blouse is sewn using the shirring sewing technique as shown in this video. These blouses are produced mainly by women in SME sector and sold to PNG women in Papua New Guinea and even to those who live abroad in countries like Australia and New Zealand. These traditional style meri blouses which these misis kolos closely resembles were introduced by missionaries back in time. Other Pacific Island countries such as Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa also have dress styles with similar history attached to the work of christain missionaries in the Pacific. This blouse is an easy to wear blouse and also easy to make blouse without the use of a pattern. It can be easily adjusted to one's size preference and own styling options. These blouse/dress can be worn in different ways depending on the length of the blouse. The longer ones can be worn as dresse while the shorter ones can be worn as tops/blouses and tunics. These shirred dresses would make a great addition to any women's summer wardrobe.

How many cm do I get to cut curve on neckline, how many cm of elastic to put on neckline. Aw, thankyou for the video.❤
I measured 2 cm here to get the curved neckline. That can be adjusted depending on how high or low you want your neckline to be. And the elastic, I had 95 cm here. That also can be adjusted.. Thanks for your comment. 🙏🏾
Would it be possible to make a meri blouse that's fitted around the waist? 😊
I think so. Maybe when I am measuring out the body piece I make it narrower or I shape it out as to make it narrower at the waist. I will try one and see. 🙏🏾
