Hello One and All
As of this year, 2024 I am a new UA-camr. Yes, new in every sense of the word. So far, this journey has been scary, exciting and surprisingly enjoyable for me.
A little about myself. I am an over 50 something years "young" soul living, learning and embracing all that life has to offer. I enjoy crafting and creating things for myself. Enjoy sewing, cooking, soap making, crocheting, knitting, loom knitting, hand crafting using different mediums such as clay and epoxy resin. These hobbies and diy projects give me a certain kind of peace, joy and pleasure that is not easy to get elsewhere. I will try to share some of those here as well as what I learn about being on this UA-cam journey. This is a step by step how sew a Papua New Guinea meri blouse tutorial. This is Part 2 of the meri blouse sewing tutorial.

A meri blouse also known in Papua New Guinea as meri kolos is a blouse commonly worn by women in Papua New Guinea. Today, there are many different styles of this blouse available and those who sew these meri blouses have their own way of sewing them. These blouses are produced mainly by women in SME sector and sold to PNG women in Papua New Guinea and even to those who live abroad in countries like Australia and New Zealand. These type of dresses and blouses were introduced by missionaries back in time. Other Pacific Island countries such as Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa also have dress styles with similar history attached to the work of christain missionaries in the Pacific. This is a step by step sewing tutorial on how I make this meri blouse. This blouse is an easy to wear blouse and also easy to make blouse without the use of a pattern. It can be easily adjusted to one's size preference and own styling options. These meri blouse can be worn in different ways depending on the length of the blouse. The longer ones can be worn as dresses while the shorter ones can be worn as tops/blouses and tunics. This is part one of a two-parts tutorial series.

Thanks for this mini kolos.i just want to ask about the chest do we need to measure ours or just use the 34 cm?
Now that you asked I just realised that I had completely forgotten to mention the size of the blouse. I usually wear a blouse and dresses size 12-14. With the 34 cm chest band. It fits me perfectly. But I would suggest for you to measure your chest in order to get your misin kolos to best fit you. It does NOT necessarily have to be 34 cm. Thanks for your comment. HAPPY SEWING!

Can you give the measurements for the pockets please?
Will make a short video to try answer the question. Few other people asked too and I did not use any measurements. I just used my hand 🖐️ as a template to get the outline of the pocket piece. 🙏🏾

Not really sure what length you are referring to?? I am also not using inches as measurement units here. I use centimetres as measurement units. The dimensions for the neck fabric piece here is 32 cm by 34 cm. Hope this answer helps clarify. 🙏🏾
