Mate, your videos have helped me massively! I rarely add vocals to my music, not because I don't like to, but because I can't mix them to save my life! Haha, I've watched this video and another one you did back last year and my track sounds 10 times better! Thank you 🤘
Nice one my bruddah... fucked wi LogicX as a hobby for time.. never really fucked with any mixing whatsoever. Bust out a groove.. lay down a vocal, and move on to the next 2 hour project.. But yo my guy from over the pond.. you got man feeling it again. 30 mins after watching your video and laying down similar dynamic and effect parameters to what you did on your vid.. my guy, I actually like my tracks. There's always a point whether learning any instrument, you get stale for a while, then BOOM.. summat clicks and you hit that next level.. So thank you my man.. Your video has inspired me to delve deeper into the craft of producing electronic music. Not checked out your other videos yet, but I hope you've done something on creating quality (UK) Drill 808 Glides.. Peace from WYUK my man...
I would love at the end of mixing if you could demonstrate what you normally set the track levels too along with the beat. it would be nice to see how you level gain the whole thing together
General rule of thumb: have your vocals sit just above or just under the snare. Old/east coast styles like Nas & Jay Z would have snares just a bit louder than the vocals, and more modern music has the vocals just a bit louder than the snare. It helps to turn your volume down to about as quiet as you can get it without losing your beat, bring your vocals up slowly til they feel like they’re sitting in that sweet spot. Usually you may have to nudge it up or down a 0.5 - 1dB. From there, use your skills and knowledge to get the vocal to stand out more. Some compression, eq, subtle saturation and maybe a few other tricks should do the trick (most of the time).
Thanks for sharing. You’re going really fast. I’m confused. Where did those presets come from if you’re working with a new blank track. Am I missing something 😩🤔 ok wait I hadn’t watched the whole video but I’m going to just do what you’re doing and see how my vocals turn out. You can check them out later tonight on my channel if your interested. I’ll shout you out as well in the comments. Thanks again
