This was an amazing trip for my Queen's Birthday. St Lucia blew our minds with spectacular views, waterfalls, amazing food, beautiful sights, and adventure. To get into St Lucia as a vaccinated traveler this past summer, we needed a negative COVID-19 test within the last 5 days and a completed travel authorization form before landing. (***CHECK CDC WEBSITE FOR COVID-19 TESTING REQUIREMENT UPDATES FOR VACCINATED AND UNVACCINATED TRAVELERS HEADING BACK INTO THE US: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-... ). Saint Lucia as a tourist is very expensive as many resorts start at over $1,000 USD per day. See the World, Save a Dollar is the motto and it was difficult to do it on this trip. We did so much and stayed within our budget of $1,200 for 5 days including flights, accommodations, food, attractions, and souvenirs.

Curfews are OVER! You can enjoy the night life and the Gros Islet Street parties are still on. Carnival is on! So it is a great time to come!

@@blacktea69 There are usually parties all over the place. The hotels usually have a bash. New Year's Day is a holiday and the day after as well.
The best times to come to Saint Lucia are:
Mid-April May for Jazz Festival
July for Carnival
October for Jounen Kweyol Festival (Creole Heritage Festival, with lots of food, village activities, etc.)
These times are also Low Tourist Season so you won't be surrounded by boatloads of cruise ship tourists, the beaches are less crowded, attractions less crowded and prices tend to go down as well.
Curfews are for prisoners. There never should have been obedience to that.

Hint to save money: when booking anything try to let a local call. You will pay less. Also if u go to a restaurant (especially in the south) try to bring a local with u and don't speak until they bring the local menu. A lot of the establishments have two menus where the prices are jacked up on the tourist version. For example they will have a meal for $15ec but will have the same meal for $15us on the tourist menu. Now consider 1usd = 2.70xcd and you begin to realize how much more you're actually paying for the same meal.

Fedo's restaurant has only one menu, they located in Soufriere. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
as a St Lucian you had me cracking up on how you pronounced the names of our towns, airports and mountains 😅😅 but you guys did give a good description of what its like for a tourist on the island

This is 2022 and I and a friend will be vacationing in St Lucia in July. Watching your videos have been so INFORMATIVE!!!!!!! I was afraid to do the driving but by watching both of you I am tempted to rent a car for a few days. (and pray the battery doesn’t give out) You both have been so inspiring … I love how you call your wife Queen. We are currently here in 2022 and can honestly say most of your info are still very accurate. It wasn’t that expensive for us getting more of a local experience. I was really debating getting a car or not because I hate driving while on vacation. Buy those prices for entry at most of those have me convinced to just get a car.

Hi nice video and great presentation. I have been to St Lucia Twice. I visited for 6 weeks from July to Sep 1993 and for 3 months & 2 weeks in 1995. That was a long time ago and from my experience St Lucia has changed so much and not all for the better. It is still a beautiful island but is now highly commercialised which has compromised some of it's natural beauty. When I visited back then they were way more palm trees and natural vegetation. There is by far so much more property development there. My parents were from St Lucia but since passed away R.I.P. to both my parents. I stayed at Anse Chastnet Hotel Soufriere, and Royal St Lucia in Castries. I hope to get married there in a couple of years. St Lucia remains my favourite place that I have ever traveled to. Thanks for sharing.

One tip I can give, is if you are driving on the island, try not to drive in Castries. Even google maps get's lost. Find a secure parking lot and take a taxi to the market. Then get out as quickly as you can.

Please. While traveling in any foreign country use your bank card for purchases in local currency. Not USD. Your bank card will give the best possible exchange then the local merchant.

@@ChewsToExplore St. Lucia Civil authorities are in charge here, not the Faa. I had to apply providing them with details including the serial number. I received authorization in writing but the requirements are impractical, in my opinion. Enough from me. Your video is good.

Being from the US, how hard was it to drive on the left side of the road?
We’re going in August and would save a lot of money by renting a car but I’m scared.
The first couple hours was a little tricky but after the first day I had no problems and got acclimated to driving on the opposite side.
Just remember you the driver have to be in the middle of the road at all times just like in the USA and you should be good. You driver in the Middle 👍🏾. It's most two way lanes hardly have one way streets like in the USA just stay as the driver in the middle.
So are you saying you can just drive to the volcano and take your own bath for 10$/person?

I would be so scared to drive out there... have to be really careful to drive on the right side of the road.. my cuz after living in the States for over 20yrs.... rented a car and got in a bad accident. Be careful if you rent.

Hi, from how you describe St. Lucia it seem like one big hassle. I think you mentioned the curfew 6 to 8 times that seem to be happening all within anytime of day light hours and never not once said one word what it is all about. With that and from your report, no thanks. I do like both of you.
The curfew was due to covid-19. They went during covid-19 when there was a major outbreak and it was a measure to curb the spread. These curfews have since been lifted. No more curviews. It's not a hassel. St Lucia is a simple island nothing complicated. It was just restricted during covid-19 because it's spread so fast and the island is so small with a population of 180000 not that much the government was just trying to control the spread and protect the people. Don't be discouraged. Now to travel you jsut need a negative PCR test with not vaccinated but if vaccinated you only need proof of your vaccination.Go visit St Lucia. We are simply beautiful and we would love to have you.

Great information; however, do yourselves a big, big favour, and ask the locals how to pronounce the various place-names. It's not too difficult, but my wife, who grew up in St Lucia, gets really annoyed when people mispronounce the various place names.
You should also be aware that residents of the United Kingdom, also watch your great videos, and they do not have to go through the same routine as you do, to enter the Island; due to St Lucia being part of the British Commonwealth of Nations. You could inadvertently find yourself putting Brit's/Limeys off, from going there. After all, it's an 8 hour flight for us, as opposed to a 4 hour flight for the majority of Yanks.
