Been a long time fan of Pan, and Larry at Ammo, and recently found your channel. I have to say that you have a very welcoming demeanor, and Im really enjoying all your videos. Super informative and thorough. You're extremely passionate about your job, and passionate about passing on your knowledge to others. You're definitely going to be one of the biggest detailing UA-camrs in the future. And FINALLY someone did a piece on Costco microfibers. Yeesh. Everyone and their mother uses it but no one ever really goes into details about it.
We appreciate your videos, Josh! I’m glad UA-cam algorithms let me discover your channel. You’ve got your own unique approach to reviews and perspective, it’s refreshing, entertaining and educational to watch your content. You’ve made detailing products seem less intimidating for sure. Again, much thanks for the content!
I also pre soak my real dirty towels before washing them, I also run an empty wash cycle after I’m done to insure I don’t transfer anything onto my family’s clothes, great tips Josh 👍😁
I've used these towels since Costco started selling them (10+ years?). They do a great job and the value can't be beat. I've never had issues with scratches. Make sure you wash them before using them. They do produce quite a bit of lint.
Same except with a quarter cup of white vinegar for extra cleaning power and when using spray sealants, waxes, ceramic detailers, etc..i soak in bucket with koch chemie gs (apc) then after a few hrs wash normal. Had issues with drying towels pushing water/ceramic detailers and not absorbing so hopefully this does the trick, felt much softer after drying. If not, will try rags to riches.
This is very true, you definately have the welcoming SD attitude and vibe. I stayed down there for a couple years (from the SF Bay) and yeah your cool to watch and listen to unlike some of the channels on YT. Keep it up bro might hit you for some business questions for I would like to start something here in the (close to) Tahoe area and get in on the money that could be made from detailing for the Jeepers after they hit the Rubicon Trail. Alright man, good work, keep keeping us entertained and God bless. I actually got that dog in the profile pic while living in SD
Great video! I try to wash my shop towels cleanest to dirtiest. Microfiber, cotton, shop rags etc. Then run supper hot quick rinse to get all the junk out. I use the kids detegent to wash my microfibers.
Bro this info has literally changed my life. I been washing and drying my towel wrong. Bout to throw out all these towels and buy a new 9 pack bulk from Costco
I mostly use the Kirkland brand and with the costs being so low I usually toss them rather then trying to get the chemicals off. But then again it’s just a few vehicles not a business. Another awesome informative video. Thanks IMJoshV
Definitely needing to change my towels. The more I dive into the world of detailing, the more I realize what I like and don’t like with these different towels…. Could you do a complete process when it comes to interior leather. Would love to see your process with that!
For those who kinda on fence with using washing machine cos of bills. Consider a hand manual washer like wonderwash. Pays it self off over time from not using utilities except little bit of water
Thanks for the vid. I ruined a bunch of microfiber towels after washing them and putting a fabric softener sheet in the dryer. But I just also realized that I was using reg heat to dry them, which I am not suppose to do. Anyway, Whatever it left on the towels would transfer over to my car windows. I have washed them over and over but it won't come off the towels. So that is why I am here looking @ vids to see what liquid detergent I can use on my new microfiber towels. I was thinking of using SalSuds from Dr. Bronners, what do you think? So you're suggesting to wash my drying towel with my waffle weaved glass towel? That would be ok even though I use glass cleaner on it. Thank you!
With your car washing method, using multiple microfiber cloths in the soapy water to wash,I’m sure you are a PRO at cleaning these lol Thank you for sharing!!
Good video. I've been using Chemical Guys for years. I switched to P&S but for the cost difference I couldn't really tell any difference between P&S & Chem Guys. I just bought a gallon of Malco for $22 on Amazon so I'm hoping it's atleast as good as Chem Guys & PS
@@Andresthebigcat it's OK but honestly Chemical Guys & Adam's microfiber wash seem to do just as good or better job getting out stains & leaves towels just as soft as P&S and def better then Maco.
So if i only have my personal washer dryer and i want to start washing separate loads of microfiber towels in between my regular scheduled clothes washing, is this going to create a problem? Will the chemicals linger after a wash of towels, and then i wash clothes, will this create a issue? I don't really use hard chemicals (so far). Just "light stuff" like waterless car wash spray, or sometimes dash/window cleaner, that's literally it. I i would say the strongest checmical i've used on my microfiber towels is Invisible Glass for my windows, i don't know if that' considered heavy soiled.
Same with any wheel tires? i was thinking to pre-soak all of them ona 5 gal bucket with a microfiber and warm water.. rinse them with water and then just wash them all at once. exect window towels since they are different more thin material. have you experienced with this?
Josh nice vid as always. I am washing a load of all new towels and mits I am guessing for the first wash they can all be washed together. I will seperate them after them after the initial wash based on job duties and the colors to those specific duties.
How important is it to wash brand new rags before 1st use? Just bought some from from rag company. Will they bleed color on white paint, or have a bunch of lint get stuck when doing a final sealant?
There are several reasons not to wash your towels in the same machine you use at home. I washed a load of microfibers at the house years ago. The very next day the washer was broke. Not a coincidence. After looking into it, I found out it wasn't worth the cost to fix. So, I bought a new washer. I firmly believe that polish, waxes and maybe some solvents damaged the pump. Since, I just go to the laundromat. Had to share
😂😂 pumps pump they don’t know what they’re pumping, waxes and car cleaning products will definitely have no impact on your machine. yours was pure coincidence.
Is the Adam’s Towel & Pad Revitalizer really necessary or is just All Free & Clear laundry detergent enough to get the job done for a weekly regular washing, detail spray drying, glass cleaning and interior detailing?
Can I ask, I have hot yoga towels that I believe are microfiber, can I use them on my car? They’ve been just sitting there cuz I haven’t been using them for a while. Some of them even have a weave in it and would love to use it for the drying process
this bad dude is my favourite to watch on UA-cam when it comes to detailing, possibly my favourite UA-cam page overall..thanks for taking the time to post these great videos man!!!!
To save on money at the laundromat is it a good idea to dry the microfiber towels and drying towels all together since it’s all clean??? Or do you still dry them separately??
I use car wash soap in the clothes washer when I wash the microfiber towels. In regards to the super soiled microfiber, can I use my pressure washer to shoot out the heavy stuff? Enjoy your channel!
Great info, towel care is often overlooked. Would love to see your opinion/reviews on new Harbor Freight foam cannon and new Milwaukee M18 15 or 21mm cordless polishers!!
I’m pre soaking my rag company towels edgeless and using rags to riches. I’m air drying but for some reason on the second use I’m getting lint pieces of the towel left on the car when wiping compound off. I use these towels just for paint correction. Any ideas? I know the towels are clean but I never had this issue with my Kirkland brand.
I just want to ask about drying towels. Do they have to be machine washed after every car dry? Or can they be washed with water and left to dry for the next use?
Thats a great question! A pre soak is a great idea to help break it down. Othewise the towel will want to repel water and you wont get the absorbency you want
Always allow towels to rest one day before using. Having a three day par leads to best performance and longest life. One day for use one day being washed one day to relax and allow fibers to regain the natural shape
Hey, Josh! What do you recommend for when towels are hydrophobic after a proper wash and dry sequence? I'm not using any fabric softener, am using a dedicated MF wash solution, and the rags are not being used to apply/remove any waxes or compounds. They come out clean but water beads right off them..
@@CTTH100 yes if they been Iike that for awhile, add 2 oz to 2 gallons and let them siit for 14-24 hrs, the longer you let them sit, more of that that gunk will come out.
What do you do if your towels get debris in them from dropping on the ground accidentally such as bits of grass or gravel? Do you toss them or just wash? I've found it's hard to ensure they are completely free of debris.
Its just me but i use a small washer that sits in my tub. Wash 4-5 towels at a time. Spin dry in the spinner and dry on low heat. Fyi most house water temp is not hot enough to harm MF. I believe its around 140° max.
