- Our journey from Sonamarg to Kargil took much longer than anticipated. The distance between the two places is only about 125 kilometers and on a good day, it can easily be covered in 4 to 6 hours.
But the day we picked for the travel was not a good one. We started from our hotel in Sonamarg at 6.30 am and reached Kargil by 10.30 pm. It took us 16 hours to complete the journey because Zojila did not open until 4 pm that day.

Hi sir, thanks for all the information that you have been sharing. Those are really very helpful. For Srinagar-Leh highway in the month of Jun'24, will travel towards Kargil on even dates, and travel towards Sonmarg on odd dates remain unchanged? We are supposed to cross Zozila on 4-Jun towards Kargil.
Bhai there is no guarantee about the dates of Zojila. It keeps on changing depending on the traffic and weather. But hopefully, by June 4th, two-way traffic would get allowed

This was in June
I am thinking of going to kargil war memorial from Sonmarg morning 8 am. Is it possible to go in the month of May.
Also on the same day I am planning to go to Srinagar back again. Is it feasible and advisable. Please advise
You will have to start really early for that. Will be a very long journey and if there is heavy traffic at Zojila, you may have to stay back in Sonamarg only

2. Can I go back to Srinagar from Leh on Friday ?
3. Is it possible to reach Srinagar from Leh in a single day? If possible how many hours is required by reserve Taxi?
1. Not early in the season. At that time, the traffic is regulated. But yes you can later in the season.

3. After a drive of 20 hours so not at all recommended

@@faizaanvlog It will depend on the weather and the snow. Usually, the pass is declared open sometime in April only
