Dheeraj bhai..after seeing this video I am damn sure that Google maps also must be asking directions from you about Ladakh roads.Truly amazing and Thanks again for providing so much information in detail.👍👍🙏🙏
Thank you Dheeraj bhai for making such detailed videos. I am a budding youtuber and planning to ride to Ladakh on my bike this year right from Bangalore. You videos have been of great help, please keep up the good work and all the best.
I am travelling next week to leh Ladakh via shrinagar, I have done enough r&d but still find your videos innovative & informative, thanks for sharing such wonderful & crucial information through your videos. I Have seen so many videos but still your videos are so informative that I can't ignore them. Keep spreading awareness. ❤ For Leh,Ladakh & Dheeraj bhai.
Trust me, till yesterday we were planning how to visit Umling La and discussing the route and today came your video 😊 Saved lot of time and helped in better planning. Awesome Information 👍🏻
Sir, my tour operator has given me this route April 22 : Arrival & Rest in hotel. Drink plenty of water 3-4 liters each day. April 23: Day Trip to Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Sangam,Magnetic Hill,Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace. Overnight stay in Leh. April 24 : Move to Nubra valley via Khardungla pass and visit Diskit Monastery. April 25: Rest and exploration day. We will visit Turtuk village today. April 26:Transfer to Pangong Lake via Shyok River, Stay. April 27: Move to Hanle homestay. Explore the Indian astronomical observatory,Hanle. April 28: Visit to Umingla pass and then Transfer to Korzok to visit Tsomoriri lake via Nyoma valley. April 29: Transfer to Leh via Puga and Tso Kar/ Mahe bridge back to Leh. April 30 : Drop to airport. Any suggestions Sir from your side???
The route is fine, only long travel is on the day you go from Hanle to Unlimg La and drive to Korzok. If you start by 6 am from Hanle you should reach Korzok by 6 pm.
Ken bhai has already suggested few inputs. From my side, I will say staying overnight at Pangong lake will be tough because cold conditions. So, make sure you go prepared. Visit to Umling La and then to Tso Moriri is possible byt leave early. Same comment for Tso Moriri for cold conditions as Pangong, even more cold.
Awesome guide video! If it's possible, please super impose the video with date or atleast month when the footages were shot so that we could imagine the conditions during that period of year.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try to see what I can do with it. Just that editing time gets more and more. May be the new video I will process for clips, I can try to embed it right away.
Thanks Dheerajbhai for regularly posting such informative videos. I would like to know if one should book Guesthouse/Homestays in advance? Or is there adequate availability and does not require pre-booking? Curious to know about stays options because in Leh Ladakh trip adjustments in itinerary are required due to difficult and unavoidable circumstances.
I completely understand the apprehensions bhai and if you are going in season time then hotels will be booked but homestays can be available. Outside season time it is in general OK to land there and search a bit to find the one that suits you.
Hi Dheeraj ji. I have been following you for quite some time in UA-cam & u r one of my main source for my planning of Leh ladakh bike trip & i love how u clarify everhing just the way we wants. Keep up the good work brother. As I am a busy professional, I have less time to plan my entire trip on my own. We wl be around 6 people. So we have planned to go with conducted tours of travel companies. We have shortlisted some of the companies. We intend to do Umlingla in the entire circuit trip d not just from Leh to Leh. . One such company is providing srinagar-leh-umlingla-manali-delhi circuit. My main query is whether Umlingla is open for group bike tours this year. We intend to go on last week of May or 1st week of June. Some companies are saying army will not give permission this year, some are saying it's permitted. So can we visit Umlingla in a group bike tour. We are in dilemma whether to book the Umlingla trip or not. Plz suggest brother.
Thank you brother.. You can always get in touch with Leh based tour provider Ken +91 84510 57819, +91 866-9121640. You can refer my name to him and he shall do his best to offer best experience. Hi dheeraj Just an information, Me last August 2022 me gaya. tsmoriri me ek hospital he.. just entry karte hi he wahan .apko basic medicine and Oxygen bhi mil jayega ..and yes BSNL ka network pakadta he in Tsmoiri but it depends on Indian Army wo hi service ko handle karte he..
I am planning to do Chennai-Srinagar-Leh-Khardung la-Umling la-Chennai next month on Tiago EV! Can you post a video of available charging stations in these routes.
Hi Dheeraj, What application are you using to show us the map view from Chisumle to Umling La Pass? Google maps doesn't show any route. In between great job for this info!
I have hand drawn on Google Earth images and embedded it as video here. You can check my link of travel guide where I have these routes shared on Google Maps with custom hand drawn layer devilonwheels.com/plan-trip-umling-la-pass-highest-motorable-pass/amp/ There is a section in above article where you can find embedded map and open it in full screen for better view. Once you reach Chisumle bridge then you just take it towards Umling La - Demochok and there is no confusion then as one and only one road leads to Umling La there with multiple signs
Hi Bro, We want to visit Leh. Which month is better July 1st week or Sept last week? 1. We are traveling by air 2. We want to experience snow 3. We are planning for private driver not bike Can you suggest?
Well, for snow both these months are not ideal. September end only snow will be present if it snows just before or during the days of your travel. July will have limited snow from the last season. July 1st week will be more pleasant in terms of weather but September end will be great in terms of beautiful fall colors.
Jhulley Dheeraj bhai... last year aapki aisi hi informative videos se humara delhi to leh ka bike trip successful ho paya tha.. hum is bar bhi plan kr rhe hai trip but is bar hum via kargil hokr jane ka plan kr rhe hai... to hum chahte hai ki kargil se seedha turtuk jaye, map pr check kiya to kargil to turtuk via leh jaa rha hai... is there any way to skip leh and reach turtuk directly from kargil?
Thank you sir! i want to do this on a bicycle. Which route would be the best? via srinagar or via manali. would one require to carry campit gear? is accommodation and food available one the way? i am going to ride from Manali to Leh on mid September 2023. i had done this route last year around the same time. i will modify my plan based on your inputs.Thank you very much.
As you are doing Manali to Leh, then take rest in Leh for couple of days. After that you can start the travel towards Hanle via Chumathang route. Please check video of Hanle Travel Guide on my channel, I think it is one episode before this one. From Hanle do Umling la via Photola route.. follow guidance in the video above for Umling routes
You can bhai I think there isn’t any restrictions as such… as long as you believe it is reliable and will not get you stuck in middle of nowhere or you are good at yourself in fixing it, it should be ok
Dhiraj sir. Me next month Ladakh bike trip karnewala hu. Agar me Hanle raat me Hault karke next morning jaldi Umling la karke same day sarchu pohoch sakte hu kya. Please guide kijiye🙏
Highly informative and educative videos. 👍Thanks. What are the average fuel efficiency and speed one can expect in the new Classic 350 on Leh>Manali highway?
Plz check this video Petrol Pumps In Leh - Ladakh in 2023 | Tips for Carrying Spare Fuel on Ladakh Trip | Dheeraj Sharma ua-cam.com/video/6Oksvn5jBwU/v-deo.html
Your videos are very informative, watched so many videos of yours. we are planning to visit leh in next month need some tips and advise, how I can connect with you? please revert in comments each query is not possible to resolve through replies on comments
Thank you so much Vishal bhai.. happy my videos are proving useful. Sorry buddy this is the most efficient way to connect for now as am only active here for the community and not available on any other social media platform. Also, email box is mostly full so it may take some time to reach there. Best is to leave comment here and I shall reply within a day here mostly.
Hi Dheeraj, what if anyone who wants to enter hanle from pangong side , then umling-la and exit from tso- moriri. Will he get a petrol pump on the way to tso moriri. If not then for how many KM's we need to carry extra fuel for this route?
Sudipta, only closest petrol pump will be Tangtse (34 kms before Pangong lake) then you need to manage the whole Tangtse to Hanle to Tso Moriri to Keylong without petrol pump, roughly 840 kms
Yes 840~ kms approx including Unling La provided you fill petrol at Tangtse. You can stay at Sarchu after Tso Moriri and then next day do Sarchu to Manali via Keylong
Pangong to Hanle is about 6 hrs at rushed pace and same will be required for Umling La too about 6 hrs from Hanle.. so it will be very very hectic day and not recommended
Hi, Plan is for 2nd week of April . Solo travel Plan 1 1. Leh -pangong Tso (stay) 2. pangong Tso - Chushul -Hanle (stay ) 3. Hanle -umlingla pass -Hanle 4. Hanle -Tso Moriri (stay) 5.Tsomoriri -Tso kar-Leh Plan 2 1. Leh -Hanle(stay) 2. Hanle -umlingla pass -Hanle 3.Hanle -Tso Moriri (stay) 4.Tso Moriri-Tso kar -Leh Which would be better ? This will be my 3rd trip to Ladakh
Well, if you have time/days in hand then you can follow Plan 1. I am not sure what do you mean solo trip here? Are you planning to ride or go by taxi solo? Punlic transport may not be available and also Umling La Pass may not be open as well all the way. Check at Hanle guest houses before traveling up.
hello sir, i am going to leg this year in mid may, please help me with the route ,hanle-umling la-tso mariri.i am going by normal suv,not 4by4 vechile.if i go from hanle to umling la thr photi la then wchich route i have to take towards tso mariri.
Hi Dheeraj - I hope you are well and healthy. Right now am in diskit and planning to visit hundar and turtuk tomorrow. Post that planning to visit Pangong lake, tso moriri lake and umlingla pass. What route shall I follow, please note I came from Srinagar Leh highway and planning to do circuit hence returning from Manali. Please suggest best possible route. Thank you
Well, you can follow the following plan: Overnight at Diskit Hunder - Turtuk Day Trip Diskit to Pangong Lake via Shyok Village (road conditions are bad) Pangong Lake to Chusul to Tsaga to Loma to Hanle Hanle - Umling La - Hanle Hanle - Tso Moriri Tso Moriri - Tso Kar - Pang - Sarchu Sarchu - Manali
Thank you for the detailed information. Need clarity: What is the avg ride time from Hanle - Umling La - Hanle? What is the recommended time to start from Hanle? What is the best time of the day to reach Umling La?
If you start at 6/7 am from Hanle you should be back to Hanle by 1 or 2 pm. You can ride/drive back to Leh on the same day if you have the bandwidth. If you’re staying in Hanle then you can even start by 9 am. Best time to reach Umling La will depend on the weather on the day of your travel.
Ken bhai has already replied to your inputs. Consider about 6-7 hrs considering breaks, photos, time at the top. Try to start early always in such remote areas. Leave by 7 AM so that you are back by 1-2. 10 AM - 12 PM is a good time to be there at the top...
Hello Dheeraj, We have 1 day less in our itinerary to complete both Umling La Pass & Tso Moriri Lake. Which one should we skip we are following Leh Nubra Pangong Hanle route. Visiting ladakh for the first time group of friends traveling in a car
Hey thank you for the detailed info. I have a doubt , is it possible to do Leh > Tso Moriri > Hanle(Night Stay) same day, if we leave from Leh by 7 AM. ? Or Nyoma > TSO Moriri > Fuel up ar Karu > Lato(night stay) . What do you suggest ?
@@discoverwithdheeraj thank you soo much for your guidance. A ques more, is thr a time limit to cross Upshi checkpost from Leh side when going towards Manali ?
Please give us the total route map with colour codes, although you gave us the glimpse of it unfortunately it's very short staying on this video. Thanks.
D sir, is it compulsory to visit LEH (if we have paid the environment fees online)..? Can we turn right at Upshi towards Hanle...? Please respond. I am planning to visit UMLING LA this November 2nd week in a car......
Bhai November mein by road from Manali Leh 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 please dont take such risks.. it is too too risky to be there at such time of the year For other part if one should plan a trip from Upshi to Hanle or Umling la well plz check this video 5 Reasons Not to Visit Hanle - Tso Moriri from Manali Side | Manali to Umling La Pass - Pangong Trip ua-cam.com/video/3lIdFwOpSUs/v-deo.html
Hi Dheeraj sir, your videos are very informative. Thanks for making such videos. I'm planning to travel to Leh-Ladakh in May as a solo traveler and want to cover the whole circuit (Leh, Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Hanle, Turtuk, and also Suru valley). Can you guide me with this and also if you can share numbers of sharing taxi drivers...that would be very helpful. Thank you!
Hi Uttama, shared taxis can be found only on spot. There are no pre-bookings available for it. You need to keep such a plan very flexible with lots of days at hand. Starting point this video: ua-cam.com/video/kbrv1A_NJmk/v-deo.html
@@Suru2829 I'll be reaching Leh on 21st May. If you're gonna be there during that time, then we can catch-up and share the conveyance cost. Let me know if that will be fine with you and the group. Thanks
In which month did you shoot the video between 11:00 mins to 11:10 mins? Just wanted to understand in which month we can see clear sky and clear hill background if we capture the photos in Ladakh...
Hello Dheerja bhai... Very nice information... Hum log Pangong Tso se Umling La pass jane ka soch rahe hai??? 10 liter extra fuel sufficient hoga kya??? Almost sab ki Bullets hai...
Prasad bhai, aap plz ye video dekhein petrol wale topic par: ua-cam.com/video/6Oksvn5jBwU/v-deo.html Is video mein maine detail mein bataya hua hai Umling La pass routes k liye bhi
Hi - i go in 24 September to new Delhli and rent a motorcycle and go to Umling la. I have question, is there some fuel statiom /gas station? Where i refuel fuel to my engine? Thanks
Very helpful video Bhai.. I have booked a self drive car from srinagar for my journey. I have a question brother.. Can i go to kargil war memorial from sonamarg (via zozila pass - drass) using the self drive car i took from srinagar? Or is there any restriction for that? Also i there any traffic restrictions at Zozila pass currently?
No bhai, there is no restrictions for such trips. Restriction is within Ladakh for sightseeing places only. You are free to take the car anywhere else and even reach Leh and exit from Leh. So, Kargil anyways will not be a problem. Also, if you can share the details of this self-drive it may help others too at admin @ devil on wheels dot com. Regarding timings of Zojila, when are you traveling? It depends on that. Right now there is restriction of having anti-skid chains with the vehicle as well as ODD/EVEN days of one way traffic. Traffic only gets allowed in morning for 1-2 hrs 7-8.30 AM, I think.
Hello Dheeraj Bhai, How is road from Spangmik -> Merak ->Chushul -> Loma to go towards Hanle and Umlinga la pass? I'm planning to go from Leh to Pangong followed by Umling la. Please advise.
Spangmik to Chusul is most dirt track kind of road with loose sands in between, then from Chusul to Tsaga La, mostly same dirt track and somewhere around Tsaga Village you will get tarmac road all the way to Loma - Hanle. Umling La I have already shared in the video.
Thanks a lot Dheeraj for the detailed information, I am planning to travel Umlingla pass in 1st week of May. I am from Bangalore and I will be flying to Chandigarh on 27th April. From Chandigarh we are travelling by road. Unfortunately, I got to know about your channel after my flight tickets were book to Chandigarh and I cannot make it from Srinagar this time as per your suggested route for Ladhak. Can you help to suggest the best route if we are travelling from Chandigarh - Manali to Umling La? Will you recommend this route Sarchu - Moore Plains - Debring - Tso Kar - Tso Moriri - Hanle - umlingla pass? Or is it best to drive Leh and drive back to Umling La pass for AMS issue?
I do not recommend directly traveling to Umling La from Manali side due to AMS concerns. Those places are remote and much high in altitude. With un-acclimatized body and fatigue of long distance travel with rest, you are vulnerable to AMS. Hence, don't do it. Reach Leh first, have rest there, go to Nubra -> Pangong -> Hanle -> Umling La. BTW, there is a chance that Manali - Leh Highway may not have opened by that time for tourists. It is not yet open for tourists. All depends on weather in coming days.
Great video! Can I ask which of your top 13 highest roads from the website has the most beautiful photographic views? I was thinking of doing Umling La Pass but the views don't seem as spectacular as I had hoped.
Well, most of these passes may not offer views from the very top but the views on the way are much more beautiful than the views from the passes itself.. it is very difficult to say and chose between these views of so many beautiful passes.. but I really enjoy the views from Umling La Pass, as they feel much more remote.. especially when to travel between Chisumle and Umling La and then when you travel Umling La to Photi La and Photil La to Hanle ... Even the views from Kaksang La are really beautiful especially the Mitpal Tso lake.
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thankyou! I have flicked through some of the videos of the way up you speak of and they do indeed look amazing! I am a photographer from the UK and have been to the top of El Teide and Moana Kea. I am not a mountaineer though and so this probably appeals to me more than trying to climb Everest, etc. I am very tempted to take this drive but it looks like a LOT of planning! Hi Dheeraj Bhai I am reaching leh on 13th April and planning to start for nubra valley on 16th April. May i know if bikes are allowed in khardungla pass and what is the status of road??? Are they stopping bikes at khardungla pass??
Thanks lot Bhai..was looking for this information..how much time it takes to travel to umling la from hanle and back ? Also, Is it possible to start from hanle early morning , visit umling la and then drive back via hanle to have a overnight stay at Upshi ? How many hours I am looking at over all, google maps shows just 5 hrs from hanle to upshi
Well, that is totally fine if you want to do it. Leave by 7 AM and you will be back to Hanle by 1 PM and then keep traveling to Upshi.. roads are fine so you will be able to reach by 7-8 PM or stay at Teri Village, Cho House and then continue from there
Im a foreign tourist planing to road trip to ladakh in july 2023, one of the to do list is Umling la pass. it is open for foreign tourist too? any permit required?
Thank you dheeraj sir for such a informative video, i have doubts regarding permit of hanle, in one of your article you wrote we have to get stamp to visit hanle from leh DC office, but in this video you are saying, there is no such need, please clarify sir, thanks in advance...
Rajiv ji, there is no need now since 2021 the need for any permit or special stamp has been removed. You only need to pay environment fee and carry it's receipt print out with you. There is no need. Also, if you can share my article where I may missed to remove/update that part, it will be helpful for me to get that edited.
Thanks for such a detailed video on the remotest area like UmlingLa. Can u please tell how much quantity of Petrol is allowed to bikers to carry in a jerry can from any Petrol Pump in Ladakh region? Is there any kind of restriction relating to the quantity of fuel?
@@discoverwithdheeraj Dear friend, we will be hiring RE Classic 500. In mid june we r going. After Leh, we will start from Nubra to Pangong. Next day to Hanle (Stay) Next day UmlingLa and try to stay in nyoma Next day from Nyoma to Leh.
You need to manage about 600 km without petrol pumps after Tangtse to Karu with above itinerary. With full tank, it will be like you may cover around 320 km. So, you will need to carry about 15-20 ltrs.
Hi Dheeraj, is there any update on Delhi -Srinagar highway. I m also worried reg Delhi- Manali highway as I hv a 9 day trip planned from 11th Aug. What do you suggest?
It is monsoon time in general up there in North and at some parts of Manali - Leh Highway (like before Baralacha La) and Srinagar - Leh Highway (like before Kargil) you might need to face monsoon hassles but once you get closer to Ladakh, then Ladakh being rain shadow region is least affected by monsoon rains. Landslides or slush or road blocks are pretty common in the month of monsoons but these landslides are cleared in a day or two unless there is a very major one. Again there are ALWAYS risks of traveling in mountains in the rainy season. No one can predict anything but it is a well known fact about the risks of traveling in mountains Having said that, rains does reach Ladakh nowadays but in general, it is overcast days or in form of light drizzles. I will suggest you go thru my video on 10 Tips for a Trip to Ladakh in Monsoons at the link:ua-cam.com/video/TQjBw5pCGx8/v-deo.html
Hi Dheeraj. I’m travelling to Ladakh this month after 10 long years. Seems like a lot has changed since then; There are roads now, petrol pumps have popped up, permits aren’t required anymore, everyone can visit the Rezang La memorial now! Sadly there’s no BCM Touring around anymore to refer to. Can you please help me fine tune my itinerary? We are directly flying to Leh. And after 2 days/nights acclimatisation, I have only 5 days before having to return to Leh. I wanted to do Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Umling La and Baralacha La (one of my friends who is a first timer and hasn’t experienced the magic of Baralacha). Is this doable in five days? My rough itinerary is as follows. - Day 1 & 2 - Acclimatise in Leh - Day 3 - Leh - Zing Zing Bar (Is this even possible in one day?) - Day 4 - Zing Zing Bar - Tso Moriri (Anywhere we can stay in case we aren’t able to make it to Tso Moriri?) - Day 5 - Tso Moriri - Nurbula Top & Umling La - Hanle (Is this too much? Should I just go direly to Hanle and push Umling La to the next day instead?) - Day 6 - Hanle - Nyoma (refuel) - Pangong Tso - Day 7 - Pangong Tso - Leh Or should I just reverse the entire itinerary? - Day 1 - Acclimatise in Leh - Day 2 - Leh - Nubra Valley - Day 3 - Nubra Valley - Merak - Day 4 - Pangong Tso - Hanle - Umling La - Hanle - Day 5 - Hanle - Tso Moriri - Day 6 - Tso Moriri - Baralacha La - Zing Zing Bar - Day 7 - Zing Zing Bar - Baralacha La - Leh
Indeed Vrigu bhai, a lot has changed!! It is no longer what it used to be some 10-15 years ago.. some for good, some for bad!! Pros and cons of life.. and yes unfortunate to know that BCMT is shutdown. However, I am trying to hang in here in this new age of social media still... I will suggest you the following itinerary considering you are also going after sometime and you have someone who hasn't experienced Ladakh: Day 1 - Leh Rest day and acclimatize Day 2 - Leh local sightseeing and acclimatize Day 3 - Leh to Terido Village, rest and acclimatize, visit Teriphu Village (check video of Cho House: ua-cam.com/video/AZyV1-I6OsM/v-deo.html Day 4 - Terido to Hanle via Nyoma - Loma (tank up at Nyoma) Day 5 - Leave 6.30 AM for Umling La and be back to Hanle by 12-1 PM and continue to Tso Moriri Lake for night stay via Loma - Nyoma (tank up again) Day 6 - Tso Moriri - Puga - Tso Kar - Sarchu Day 7 - Sarchu, visit Baralacha La Pass and return back to Leh (this is doable now if you leave early because roads are way better than what it used to be 10 years ago, Tso Moriri - Jispa is common nowadays too)
@@discoverwithdheeraj Yeah. Sadly Yogesh Sarkar, the karta dhata of BCMT passed away due to AMS a few years ago. And the forum gradually died out after that. Thank you so much for taking out the time and helping with the itinerary. I binged on most of your resources all night yesterday and it’s immensely helpful! Especially the updated maps.
Hello Dhiraj, I am planning to visit umling la this year in mid may. It is feasible on bike during this time? I am planning to go via the Merak route to Hanle and then Umling la
Hello Dheeraj, I will be starting my leh trip from tomorrow and it will end on 15th April. I have never jumped into the snow in my life. Please guide me which is the best place in ladakh where I can find snow to play and jump into it. I want to travel as affordable as possible like using public and local transport . I'm okay with sharing taxis also.
Vaibhav bhai, routes are better for sedan now a days but you can try from Ukdungle/Photila route.. it wont be that easy but if you have experience you may do it!! Please take utmost care and caution when driving and only if confident then only travel up there as the roads are desolate and any help is hard to find up there.. If you can tag along anyone then it will be better...
Since 2021 end of season, Indian do not need any permit anymore in Ladakh for regular sightseeing. You just need to pay the Ladakh Environment Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it. Here is the link where you need to pay it: www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic Current Ladakh environment fees are broken down as following: 1. Environment Fee = Rs 400 one time 2. Wildlife Fee/Something = Rs 20 per day 3. Red Cross Fee = Rs 50 one time but Optional, you don’t need to pay if you don’t want to. DO NOT confuse environment fee receipt with permit. You just need to carry this fee receipt, hard copy or soft copy. This receipt will be checked at various checkposts. Hence, people are confusing it with permit but this is just verification that you have paid the fees.

Sir, my tour operator has given me this route
April 22 : Arrival & Rest in hotel.
Thanks for the detailed information 👍
Happy to help
Outside season time it is in general OK to land there and search a bit to find the one that suits you.
thanks for sharing the information. it has been helpful in planning

Instagram: @unpluggedlife

Hi Dheeraj, What application are you using to show us the map view from Chisumle to Umling La Pass? Google maps doesn't show any route. In between great job for this info!
I have hand drawn on Google Earth images and embedded it as video here. You can check my link of travel guide where I have these routes shared on Google Maps with custom hand drawn layer
devilonwheels.com/plan-trip-umling-la-pass-highest-motorable-pass/amp/
There is a section in above article where you can find embedded map and open it in full screen for better view.
Once you reach Chisumle bridge then you just take it towards Umling La - Demochok and there is no confusion then as one and only one road leads to Umling La there with multiple signs

Hi Bro, We want to visit Leh. Which month is better July 1st week or Sept last week?
1. We are traveling by air
2. We want to experience snow
3. We are planning for private driver not bike
Can you suggest?
Well, for snow both these months are not ideal. September end only snow will be present if it snows just before or during the days of your travel. July will have limited snow from the last season. July 1st week will be more pleasant in terms of weather but September end will be great in terms of beautiful fall colors.

@@discoverwithdheeraj840 Km including Umling-la ?? And between tso moriri to keylong, where can we get stay options ??
Yes 840~ kms approx including Unling La provided you fill petrol at Tangtse. You can stay at Sarchu after Tso Moriri and then next day do Sarchu to Manali via Keylong
Can we go from Hanle to Leh directly by skipping tso moriri?
Yes you can do it
Thanks for your lovely informative videos.
Is it possible to travel from Pangong to Hanle to Umling La and back to Hanle for night stay.
Pangong to Hanle is about 6 hrs at rushed pace and same will be required for Umling La too about 6 hrs from Hanle.. so it will be very very hectic day and not recommended
Hi, Plan is for 2nd week of April . Solo travel

1. Leh -pangong Tso (stay)
2. pangong Tso - Chushul -Hanle (stay )
3. Hanle -umlingla pass -Hanle
4. Hanle -Tso Moriri (stay)
5.Tsomoriri -Tso kar-Leh

2. Hanle -umlingla pass -Hanle
3.Hanle -Tso Moriri (stay)
4.Tso Moriri-Tso kar -Leh
Which would be better ? This will be my 3rd trip to Ladakh
Well, if you have time/days in hand then you can follow Plan 1. I am not sure what do you mean solo trip here? Are you planning to ride or go by taxi solo? Punlic transport may not be available and also Umling La Pass may not be open as well all the way. Check at Hanle guest houses before traveling up.

Hunder - Turtuk Day Trip
Diskit to Pangong Lake via Shyok Village (road conditions are bad)
Pangong Lake to Chusul to Tsaga to Loma to Hanle
Hanle - Umling La - Hanle
Hanle - Tso Moriri
Tso Moriri - Tso Kar - Pang - Sarchu
Sarchu - Manali

Thank you for the detailed information. Need clarity:
What is the avg ride time from Hanle - Umling La - Hanle?

We have 1 day less in our itinerary to complete both Umling La Pass & Tso Moriri Lake.
Which one should we skip we are following Leh Nubra Pangong Hanle route. Visiting ladakh for the first time group of friends traveling in a car
Well you can start early from Hanle, visit Umling La and then reach Tso Moriri by evening same day
Hey thank you for the detailed info. I have a doubt , is it possible to do Leh > Tso Moriri > Hanle(Night Stay) same day, if we leave from Leh by 7 AM. ? Or Nyoma > TSO Moriri > Fuel up ar Karu > Lato(night stay) . What do you suggest ?
Second option is more favourable than first as adding Tso Moriri means adding about 3+ hrs in Leh to Hanle journey of 8-9 hrs

From chisumle bridge to umling la there is no route showing in Google maps
So if I reach the bridge is it easy for me to go to umling la
Yes, it is one single road with many markers and points that goes all the way to Umling La. Many people will be traveling so not to worry

Thank you bhai

No one can predict anything but it is a well known fact about the risks of traveling in mountains
Having said that, rains does reach Ladakh nowadays but in general, it is overcast days or in form of light drizzles.
- Day 1 & 2 - Acclimatise in Leh
- Day 3 - Leh - Zing Zing Bar (Is this even possible in one day?)
- Day 4 - Zing Zing Bar - Tso Moriri (Anywhere we can stay in case we aren’t able to make it to Tso Moriri?)
- Day 5 - Tso Moriri - Nurbula Top & Umling La - Hanle (Is this too much? Should I just go direly to Hanle and push Umling La to the next day instead?)
- Day 6 - Hanle - Nyoma (refuel) - Pangong Tso
- Day 7 - Pangong Tso - Leh
Or should I just reverse the entire itinerary?
- Day 1 - Acclimatise in Leh
- Day 2 - Leh - Nubra Valley
- Day 3 - Nubra Valley - Merak
- Day 4 - Pangong Tso - Hanle - Umling La - Hanle
- Day 5 - Hanle - Tso Moriri
- Day 6 - Tso Moriri - Baralacha La - Zing Zing Bar
- Day 7 - Zing Zing Bar - Baralacha La - Leh
Indeed Vrigu bhai, a lot has changed!! It is no longer what it used to be some 10-15 years ago.. some for good, some for bad!! Pros and cons of life.. and yes unfortunate to know that BCMT is shutdown. However, I am trying to hang in here in this new age of social media still... I will suggest you the following itinerary considering you are also going after sometime and you have someone who hasn't experienced Ladakh:
Day 1 - Leh Rest day and acclimatize
Day 2 - Leh local sightseeing and acclimatize
Day 3 - Leh to Terido Village, rest and acclimatize, visit Teriphu Village (check video of Cho House: ua-cam.com/video/AZyV1-I6OsM/v-deo.html
Day 4 - Terido to Hanle via Nyoma - Loma (tank up at Nyoma)
Day 5 - Leave 6.30 AM for Umling La and be back to Hanle by 12-1 PM and continue to Tso Moriri Lake for night stay via Loma - Nyoma (tank up again)
Day 6 - Tso Moriri - Puga - Tso Kar - Sarchu
Day 7 - Sarchu, visit Baralacha La Pass and return back to Leh (this is doable now if you leave early because roads are way better than what it used to be 10 years ago, Tso Moriri - Jispa is common nowadays too)
@@discoverwithdheeraj Yeah.
@VriguMohanty glad my content was helpful bhai
Where all we can find Fuel stations other than Leh and Nubra ? Is there any Station near Durbuk, Tangtse to Hanle ?
Leh, Karu, Diskit in Nubra Valley, then at Tangtse near Pangong Lake... No petrol pump after that
Hello Dhiraj, I am planning to visit umling la this year in mid may.

I hope you are having a wonderful trip, seems you are commenting here too late for any help plus I am not sure what your plan is for just 3 days.,..
Hi Dheeraj. Please share if there is a direct road to kargil from turtuk. I plan to head to Srinagar from Leh via Turtuk. Thanks. Best wishes.
There is no direct route yet from Kargil to Turtuk
can I visit umling la pass with my Dzire in last week of may and if yes then plz suggest me which route to take out of these 5 routes explained by you
Vaibhav bhai, routes are better for sedan now a days but you can try from Ukdungle/Photila route.. it wont be that easy but if you have experience you may do it!! Please take utmost care and caution when driving and only if confident then only travel up there as the roads are desolate and any help is hard to find up there.. If you can tag along anyone then it will be better...
Hello bro..do we need permit to travel nubra valley and pangong lake..aur just keeping adhaar card will be sufficient?
Since 2021 end of season, Indian do not need any permit anymore in Ladakh for regular sightseeing. You just need to pay the Ladakh Environment Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it. Here is the link where you need to pay it: www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic
Current Ladakh environment fees are broken down as following:
1. Environment Fee = Rs 400 one time
2. Wildlife Fee/Something = Rs 20 per day
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you 😊
