Thanks for taking the “Hit” for us on that grab bag. I agree, I wouldn’t call that a scam, but it’s an overpriced retail bag that’s he/she is in the business of making money on. There would be no chance of getting a “find” in one of that sellers grab bags.
Many dealers are sadly like that, over value the common stuff and wonder why they don't get repeat customers and they usually fiarly price the expensive stuff, but the cheap stuff to them has overheads and thus must make a killing off it.
Hello, Silverpicker, Also, with the star notes, the barr notes, and the web note, also, can you make a video about radar notes? Here would be an example: A13255553A. I belive they do exist...
Great video picker. What a coincidence. I bought a grab bag from the same seller for the same reason. Many coin channels have done grab bags that cost $30 and up. I wanted to do a couple of the cheapest bags I could find. I actually his $10 offering to long with another sellers $10 bag. I will do a video on them when they arrive.
Another great vid man! Im gonna go check out the $20 coin collection video. Also i have to say from the sellers perspective and a buyers perspective the things are always gonna be priced different. And some of these sellers are actually real world people who get it. And want the value just like us.
Thanks man! I'm all for the sellers making a profit, but that doesn't give them license to rip people off. If they can't make a profit by selling coins at the market rate, then they probably shouldn't be in this business
I'm glad I came across this cause I ordered 2 grab bags from the same seller on ebay and I hate to be scammed, it ships from Puerto Rico. But, I will be making a video before I open it and see what it contained differently of what you received. UPDATE: Just posted my video of the same lot.
At the time I am writing this comment, the silver melt price for 40% Kennedy half is $3.57. So not completely too far off what the seller is saying it is worth.
I think contacting the seller and sending this video would be a good idea. Maybe they'll change their value estimates, who knows. And if not, you won't lose anything ;)
Around 14:!! you speak of a $20 purchase, ( pointing upwards to your left side ), saying look at this video. Nothing shows. Still enjoyed all the ones I have watched and a few left to go!
I make some money from the ads that play before the videos and I use that to cover some of my production costs. Also the very generous Patreon patrons help a ton
I disagree. Better to go to a LCS and ask them to put together $30 worth of interesting coins for a young/new collector. 100% will be way better than this. I don't believe in getting young or new collectors started with rip offs. I think that turns them off from the hobby. Totally understand where you're coming from, though
Yeah, it's not gonna break the bank but it's still a bad deal. You could buy a single tic-tac for $5. Won't make you go broke, but it's still a massive rip off lol
To me, overpriced can only be an excuse for a seller if you know what you're getting. When they say, "trust me," and you give them that trust not to rip you off and they still do, that's when it becomes a scam
The $1 has 8's on it, 8's are an auspicious number for the Chinese and many Asian cultures, as a white man its appeal would be lost on you. But a Chinese collector would be like "Ai yaa" good fortune and be very happy. Overall that thing was a ripoff and the photos were misleading, such things should be banned as the less educated may think that is what they get - many feebleminded people have little understanding of the value of money.
I think you are being a bit unfair though as that cheap stuff is an erratic seller and who knows if he has overheads, packages cost money, shops, power, computer, packaging and his time all cost money. 4 of those coins were in holders that cost at least 10 cents more each. In reality he was selling basically a kiddie or starter collectors pack and I agree 2 items is hardly a grap bag, especially a signed quarter which really is gimmicky to me. I doubt the guy could sign 10000 times in a row, I would say most of the signatures were photocopied. To be honest, the seller is probably wasting his time selling such el cheapo crap and realistically $1.68 for the quarter, well going to the bank, sealing it and going through piles of other quarters to make sure its perfetc plus overheads - not that bad and realistically its was $1.50 what you paid as you paid $15 and the alleged value of the grabbag was $16.47. This is more a C- deal rather than an F.
Every business has overhead and there are plenty of coin dealers that have more overhead than this seller (i.e. local coin shops) and they manage to sell coins for fair prices. I'm not interested in subsidizing this seller's poor business planning. Also, the whole concept of a grab bag is that you give up choice for a good deal. If he's just going to include random coins at their market rate, what's the point? Might as well just buy what you want if you're paying top dollar. Also, I'm very well acquainted with the Chinese view on the number 8. That said, this bill does not have enough 8s to make a Chinese collector pay even close to $5 for it. Appreciate the comment though!

Thank you
Certainly some nice coins on Sdbullion. I did send you an email regarding purchasing some smaller items from you.
I will never buy a grab-bag, but I am curious, so I love that you do these.
Thanks Mark. It's definitely smarter to buy one coin you like than a grab bag from ebay lol

100%. These sellers think in the short term, not in the long term
Hey Silverpicker! Always love these vids. Thanks for taking the hit for us! :)
My pleasure man!
I'm glad you buy grab bags, because I would NEVER waste my money on crap bags.
That is a smart philosophy lol

They exist but that is not an example. I believe they have to read the same forward or backward. 12344321

Not the worst grab bag ever. Still pretty bad though.
Exactly

That's awesome! Nice!

True, but 40% almost always sell for spot or below. There shouldn't really be a premium on there
Well you’ve certainly shown us what to avoid! Glad Our discord grab bag swaps are so much better!
haha no effort to guess who this is ;)
100% Patrick!
Good work Max
Thanks man!!
Love your videos I love a mystery, but dont like to waste money!!!
Lol thank Alex. I don't either, but it's for a good cause
Looks like you mixed up both grading companies in the photo those 6 slabes are all from ngc
You are correct!
I think it would be interesting if you did a video where fans sent in pictures of their coins and you apparaised them
I like that Idea! Thanks
Maybe you should do a Treasure Town grab bag!
That's a great idea!
I have a 5 dollar bill and the series instead of being green together with the stamp is almost black, what would rather be black ink?
Can you share a pic on my Instagram?
Less than 15.00 pay for shipping. More than 14.99 free shipping. What?
I wouldn't try and find iron clad business practices with this listing lol
I found a star note in change. Whoopie! A Dollar! Ima go list it on EBAY for $5.
Is it a good one?

Na, I don't want sellers to be able to connect my personal eBay account to Silverpicker. Otherwise they might start sending me seeded bags
