  • Just how good is the all new BMW R 1300 GS Trophy X? Is the Rhino back to being the best all-rounder full size adventure bike available?
    Ride along with Wayne as he puts it to the test offroad and gives you his thoughts. Fire trails and gravel tracks. Sand, hills, whoops, water bars. This video is in addition to the full review that can be found online very soon at Mcnews.com.au

    ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC review. This is EXACTLY the type of riding I do on my R1250GS and I've put my AltRider lowers, uppers, and bash plate to the test many times! I've been contemplating this new R1300GS a lot and your video was absolutely perfect. I will go ride one.
    QUESTION: Does anyone know, off the top, if the Woody's wheels off the R1250GS will fit this R1300GS?
    Thanks again for an epic review!! Wayne T.

    Really good riding on a big bike! Can you let us know if that model had the taller "Sport" suspension or standard? Thank.

      Cheers mate - Yes the Trophy X has the Sport suspension which is noticeably better than the standard offering and slightly longer travel. Nice username btw :)

    Excellent work Wayne. Nice to see the bike tested in mere mortal mode. What did you think of the karoo fours on the type of trails you were riding?

      Cheers mate - They're a good crossover tyre for sure. A bit noisy around town on the tar, but not a bad compromise for a bike that size. I'd probably want to go more aggressive if it was muddier and more slippery. And wouldn't want to go any less aggressive for sand.

    How are those off road tires on the pavement? Noisy? Am thinking of getting a 1300 GS for some long trips

    ...missed the 4K. I'm not the fan of the horizont leveling. Nice ride, nice enviroment.

      Gday Stargazer - this was captured at 5.3k on wide lens. The only horizon levelling is my head :) Its mounted on the chin of my helmet. Because I'm standing up a lot its probably not the best view of the dash in a lot of cases. I might try and sort through a decent chest mount position for more standing up situations...

    Weird less dive ? my 1250 doesn't dive due to the telelever suspension, comparing M1000r gearbox to the GS they're 2 very different engines mate

    Great video. In Enduro mode you cant change suspension to road or dynamic.

      @@Vicko026 Didn't they give you the comfort seats on the White GS?
      Enjoy the Safari anyway.
      It will be epic on the 900GS. I rode the 1300 GS and 900 GS on the GS Experience. 900GS is epic off road at my snail pace anyway, The front felt to nervous off road on the 1300.

      Yes it was the ‘normal’ mid seat was on the Pure. I preferred it. Still had enough purchase between the knees

      If you set the shock absorbers to a high weight, the shock absorbers would not close for you.. From experience with the gs 1250 when I ride with a rear assembly on the motorcycle in difficult terrain and with full boxes

    Oh btw - GS fans and Adventure riders alike: I'll be joining the BMW Safari in a couple of weeks time on the all new F 900 GS... VERY keen to see if it's as good as it looks.
    So hit me up with questions you want answered on that one and I'll do just that.

      I'll be very interested to hear your opinion. A mate and I were both in the market for a new bike a month ago. It was b/w the F900gs and the Tuareg. I ended up going the Tuareg early (we chatted for a while at the Ducati launch a few weeks ago about your bike - thanks again for your time). I then went out with him and test rode the F900gs. I'm a BMW fanboy but was disappointed. He was coming from a 1250gsa. The motor seemed harsh and the gearbox was typical bmw. He was put off by the weird size rear wheel and lack of rear suspension travel. Personally I was hoping for something 20kg lighter. Closer to an HP2 or the bike I'd wish BMW would build, the Touratech 1200gs Rambler (Look it up). I think BMW missed a golden opportunity to make something really special. He ended up with a Tuareg also and nothing will wipe the smile off his off his face. Have a great trip. I love the Safari.

      @@volvogt21 Ahhh! I remember you yes - Told you you’d like the Tuareg ;)
      I’ll hopefully be back on the Tiger Rally Pro before the Safari, which I suspect will be its closest competitor.

      @@Vicko026 You were spot on with me liking it. I still can't work out if it's a big bike pretending to be small or a small bike pretending to be big. It feels more nimble than my DR650 yet can do everything my 1200gs can do when it comes to big bike duties. Such an amazing bike. If BMW made them they would be everywhere. :)

    Hi, would you recommend the sport suspension or the adaptive high option? Does the sport option is really better of road?

    • @Vicko026
      @Vicko026 5 місяців тому

      The Sport suspension was the single biggest improvement over the 1250 Rallye. Chalk and Cheese.

      @@Vicko026 In my location (Asia) they won't bring in the "Sports suspension" because of Asians average size. The problem is > I am not Asian and I'm 180cm. So, I can easily flat foot even on the 570mm seat high of a sports suspension equipped new GS.
      I have a question : Did you you have the opportunity since that video, to try a 1300GS with stock suspension? Is it really a big difference?

    • @Vicko026
      @Vicko026 4 місяці тому +1

      Hi mate, I rode the Pure version before the Trophy actually and the suspension on that was also a noticeable step forward over the 1250.
      The Sports suspension was better again, but unless you’re doing jumps you’ll be fine without Sports.
