I was lucky enough to spend one year in the city of Guanajuato studying Spanish. After eating in the Fondas of the Mercados, it opened up my eyes and taste buds to what real Mexican food was like.
That was amazing. It's so great to see a chef who obviously has a great passion and love for what he does and the food he represents, let alone the warmness and hospitality of letting the public in behind the scenes. Congratulations on all your well deserved success and for being a mentor and teacher to us at home.
I love Rick's passion for cooking. I had an interest in cooking and it became my passion as well. I enrolled at Lecord on Bleu I realized that it was not just cooking but to know the ins and out of cooking in particular sanitation, temperatures, and pairing Foods together and wines. I've been going to Frontera/Topolo for over 25 years, it was fascinating to get a behind the scenes look, thanks a lot! I'm amazed you can do so much in such a tiny space! And I learned I need to char my tomatillos more!
Rick is the real deal. I love his passion and hard work from everyone there. Some people say you sold out when you started selling retail salsa but its a natural progression and they are the best salsa on the shelf.
