Aniceta Justin wow u guys.. take a look inside an late 80's porsche. that is ahead of its time.. I just bought a subaru forester turbo 2001 (same interior as GC8 impreza) and man it looks like its a decade older than it is with the fan sliders and shit. The NSX looks pretty good and the Supra when it came out was decent, but they were no where near the the quality and desig of the European premiums.
@@LilSakei are you me!? Haha, I got a 99 NB Miata in Grace Green Mica and any Green Supra is my ultimate dream car for me besides the Rx7 (in Montego Blue). From like 1000 ft away to me they look like a mini Supra so I live my green Supra dream vicariously through my green Miata for now :)
Granny shiftin, not double clutchin like you should…Your lucky that 100 shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake! Now me and the mad scientist have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried.
I still want one of these! This is the same green color as the first Supra I ever saw in person. I think this is the most beautiful car Toyota ever made, if not the most beautiful sports car ever.
I agree. Ever since playing Gran Turismo 2, I understood than all you need to have a standout car is wheels, subtle aero(if necessary), an aggressive stance, and any exhaust note, and your car will be notably cautioned as a well done sleeper.
Ah, That 2JZ. Makes me remember of the elementary days when I used to play Need for Speed Underground. Muscle car fans, this is the sound we Japanese car guys love to hear, not tinny ricer civics.
***** Sounds like you're a ricer, so can you smoke a v8 2014 mustang? GMC jimmys are trucks, theey can be beaten easy, the mustang you raced was probably a pre-2010 v6 crap mustang.
Jacinth Gudetti ive raced a 2010 camaro ss with some upgrades and smoked it. I'm pretty sure the mustang is slower. lol i just assume anyone who hates on ricers are american muscle fans
Well, it's been my friend since 1999, but it's now time to say goodbye to my '97 Anniversary Supra. Monies were paid, title has been transferred. I wish the new owner a very happy experience... Titan and others did a lot of work on this car, and it's truly one-of-a-kind in my book. Won't soon forget you !!
***** Ricers in general piss us off. Why put a big ass rear wing on a corolla when the fucking car is front wheel drive? I just don't get it. All kitted out with 19" rims with fucking stock brakes! Oh lord... then it hits you... This son of a bitch bought all these exterior shit and didn't even bother to buy new spark plugs.
Thomas Christopher White not to support ricers or anything, but even if the car is front wheel drive, you'll still need a front wing (if its powerful enough and you go to road courses a lot.) But yeah, putting wings on a car that makes 90 hp does seem stupid. However to each their own.
They weren’t directly importing the same car. Obviously US spec is left hand drive. US spec also had better turbos and injectors. So technically yes they stopped making them in 98 for us.
This is a great video and it's exciting to watch it more than once. The supra is such a beautifully designed car, especially this one with the wonderful tune that it has. Would like to see more videos on the supra. I enjoy the videos you make and hope to see many more in the future.
I think today more than ever is a car like this really appreciated. It’s been nearly 9 years since this was filmed and we now have 1,000bhp, instant torque, ultra fast accelerating electric cars, yet even still this is what a car is really about! We all knew these cars would become classics but now that they are, they seem even more special than ever before. Maybe it’s just that I’m just getting old, and like the older generations claim ‘their’ era cars are the best/last of the greats, but my oh my is a car like this a real dream car for me. Get one quick ladies and gentlemen as these will soon be knocking on 6 figures. Whatever the next 9 years has to come, I’m sure these will still be loved and adored by many.
Respect a corvette guys opinion but it still just a opinion i had titan do 900 on mine and iv drove it for 2 years and only had oil changes and tune ups so. each there own. id love for 1100hp!
My 2JZ-TT was 42,547 -- paid cash for it in 97 (what a fucking amazing year). RMM pimped it out, got it up to 480 lb/ft (dyno...despite my intuition that the front mount doesn't really get as much off a fan as traveling through air provided). Best upgrade I did was still by far the A032 Yokos...they got better wet traction than my sport-pilots got in dry weather....and dry traction was worth the 5k miles I'd get from a set. Drove that thing like a proper terrorist.
***** I've seen some unfounded remarks from people saying that "Lexus sells the LFA at a loss" ...I can only imagine this is a product of economy-of-scale and not because it's that technologically expensive to produce. Any opinions?
The LFA will never be the new Supra. Its too expensive at almost half a million dollars depending on trim level, not to mention they have only made 500 of them and dont plan on making any more. Don't think it has any real aftermarket support either. The Nissan GTR sits on the throne now, and is pretty much your only real option if you want that "tuner" Japanese sports car feel. Save it Honda fanboys.
Had no idea he made a show here. I pass Titan every single day on the way to my job down the street. You will always see lambo's GTR's, etc all sitting there as you go by. Top notch shop but I hear very pricey.
+Blake Dale It's because they are both Forced induction 6 cylinder engines, so they obviously sound about the same. And I love the sound of 6 cylinder engines :)
Oh man that sound never gets old! I loved Supras since i was little and it's such a sexy and amazing car! Wish i had one! 700 HP is enough too have fun on legal roads!
Abid Hodžić because the stock twin turbos do not flow enough air to support no more than 450-500hp. a BIGGER single turbo, provides enough airflow for as much power as you want. aftermarket twin turbo setups are expensive, complex, and with technology advancing all the time.... there is no longer such thing as turbo lag, especially when you can the engine to 8000-9000rpm but you would know that if you knew more about cars.
stampex They are two different motors, made by different manufactures. Skyline has rb26 and supra has 2JZ. Only thing they have in common is being I6.. otherwise nothing is the same stock for stock. When modified, they could be running the same/ similiar turbo's, fuelpumps, exhaust, etc. Despite both being I6... there engine sounds are different though.
15 year old original cam seal? So a shop like that did all that work on that engine to make 700 HP and they didn't replace all the seals? I don't believe that. And the tech is using a pry bar on the cam gear teeth to hold it in place. Not good...
if its the noise when he lets off the throttle (that sorta *pss* noise) that you're referring to, then yes, that's a blow-off valve. as for it sounding so unique, I'm not 100% sure. i know HKS makes/made a blow off valve that had interchangeable fins you could put in it to change the sound a bit, but it's impossible to tell without actually seeing the valve itself
TunedCavityLasers nothing unique to how the blow off valve sounds on a supra, it will sound the same on any car, flutter/compressor surge will sound different depending on intake, turbo, boost.
Matt is talking about the perfect set up between Street to Track to a fun 10 second strip car if you wanted to. I wanna see you drive Phil Sohn 20B-REW, 1993 RX-7. It was featured on Modified Magazine Front Cover. I can't find it on the website, but damn is it a beauty Matt! Sick and I just wanna see another clip of the Classic JDM ride such as the FD! It has a clean set up in the engine bay with a set up by Walker Morgan at MPFab. V mount intercooler and clean Bottom engine mount peaking out! Got to see it Matt!
It is my Dream to own this car since I saw this car the first time in Need For Speed Underground. I was like 14 years old back then. Now I found a job and have saved 2k already and pit them to the side. At least 28 k to go ( more likely about 13 k then takin a credit) to buy this 20 year old japanese car. Sounds like a joke bit its srs
BadBlueBoyZG86 better then what every one else said buy a jdm n/t 6 speed one and convert it to turbo. You can get a very good condition n/t for 7k to your door then you save 10k for mods....that's how I'm doing it. Mines on a boat headed for me right now
He explained it perfect at the end not overkill, tastefull set of wheels, no body kits, new seats, suspension and enough horsepower to go to the track and have fun.
Matt I love your show but the one thing that grinds my gears is your confusion of boost thresh hold and lag. You can't expect the turbo to spool quickly when you're at 2k rpm in 4th gear off the bat because now you have the trans as a variable so it's no longer turbo lag. Keep up the great videos though! This is just something minor that sticks out to me lol.
People complain about turbo lag at low rpms but why not downshift into the higher rpms? No expert hear but I don't get the complaints. The only time it would really bother me (and has in my speed 3) is in first gear when I can't downshift. And even then the speed 3 is has enough torque to move anyway.
+Ian Jacob Because having to drive an engine at high rpm to achieve the potential power is inefficient. That's why higher displacement/lower revving engines last longer
+Ian Jacob Because you still only make power up at the very top where as my larger displacement V8 turbo makes more power down low and due to the larger displacement it can spool the same size turbo quicker than the smaller 2jz
I've never been into Supras, maybe it's because people I know only talk about the 'riced up' versions. But this, this I like. Just a very smooth, fast car packed with quite some HP. Love the one featured in this video. Great stuff, drive.
I'm proud to say that I fell in love with the Supra 6 years before F&F ever came out my mom drove one home on her lunch one day when she worked in finance for Toyota and I've been hooked ever since. I just bought a 93 about 2 weeks ago but its having issues passing shaken (Japanese car inspection) because the previous owner ruined it by putting a veilside kit on it -_- but never the less OEM parts aren't hard to come by so I'm in the process of reverting back to stock. The prices on Supras are on the rise even here in Japan, I just happen to luck up and pay 8k for mine because nobody wanted it with the Veilside kit lol.
C.R.P This video was posted in 2012 when Titan Motorsports had the record. Ekanoo Racing got the new 5.97 record in 2014. So technically true, currently inaccurate.
This is def the way to go as far as building a Supra for the street that u can actually enjoy on a daily basis. More than enough power to have fun and keep everything well balanced. Clean lines with good suspension. Wow I'm in love with this car. Only thing is maybe I'd get it in another color lol
I personaly think 2Jz sounds better than Jay-z
1 jay z sounds better than 2 jay z
too bad a supra's engine isn't a 1jz, if you didn't understand what I said
You obviously don't get the joke here about a 1 jay z and 2 jay z... And yes I know what engine a supra has I used to own one lol
I got it, I just though you didn't know what a 2jz was... lucky supra owner
what if i told you that there's a 1jz supra engine...
Amazing how the Supra still looks modern today, that car was way ahead of its time.

+risstakerlse yeahh.. not that green
not an FRS fan, I take it?
I wanted to like the FRS... But it was anemic, a complete failure in my eyes. Offer it in a V6 or a Turbo 4 at least.
Jeremiah P It was designed to be the Toyota Miata. A drift car/handling car.
the Supra is simply timeless.....
trends fade. in a couple of years hellaflush will be dumb like crazy body kits are now. but a well done supra like this....that's gonna last a while.

It never gets old, love the Supra
That's the perfect supra and the only thing that would make it better is if it was white.
JD JoyrideTV no it would be dest all blacked out like a stealth bomber
Am i the only person that loves the sound of this supra because it sounds exactly like the GTR R34 out of 2 fast 2 furious?
Thought I was the only one who thought that too haha
I don't think anyone realises apart from us two considering it's such a popular movie haha
+Blake Dale It's because they are both Forced induction 6 cylinder engines, so they obviously sound about the same. And I love the sound of 6 cylinder engines :)

Perfect setup!
"Less is more" - 700hp
Errrr
For a modified Supra that's pretty damn conservative.
Abid Hodžić because the stock twin turbos do not flow enough air to support no more than 450-500hp.
a BIGGER single turbo, provides enough airflow for as much power as you want.
aftermarket twin turbo setups are expensive, complex, and with technology advancing all the time.... there is no longer such thing as turbo lag, especially when you can the engine to 8000-9000rpm

The way that Supra sounds 😍
DO SKYLINE R32/R33 GTR!!
sounds just like the one from fast and furious. RIP Paul...
yea his r34 skyline
stampex
but this is a supra......not a skyline.....so it sounds like his 10 second 2jz supra not the skyline..

TunedCavityLasers nothing unique to how the blow off valve sounds on a supra, it will sound the same on any car, flutter/compressor surge will sound different depending on intake, turbo, boost.

Fastest Supra In the world is Ekanoo Racing @5.97
C.R.P This video was posted in 2012 when Titan Motorsports had the record. Ekanoo Racing got the new 5.97 record in 2014. So technically true, currently inaccurate.
Titan also built that car. Titan's driver drove it, and Titan's crew chief ran it.
Dear Cadillac, I'm not going to buy a cts, please stop trying to talk me into it.
I agree 100% Matt. That car is perfectly done.
This is def the way to go as far as building a Supra for the street that u can actually enjoy on a daily basis. More than enough power to have fun and keep everything well balanced. Clean lines with good suspension. Wow I'm in love with this car. Only thing is maybe I'd get it in another color lol
he says tastefull and i see a green car with beige seats.....
Dark green and tan interior was a common color. and in a nice and clean supra that color combo is sexy.
Mathew Festoff not to me it isnt
So you don't like the color combo...the seats are legit and nothing is fake or cheap.
fonkyman good for you
Eric Bruns no good for you!!!
That sound at 4:04 just reminds me of Fast and Furious movies sooo much.. Man good times, pretty cool movies
very nice video. good info for beginners or first time supra buyers too !
Clean & classy look to it. Nice.
Great review on the iconic 90's tuner car and rival to the Nissan Skyline, the Toyota Supra. I like usuable power.
This is the exact build I want and I will keep coming back to this video until I make it real.
This car is just spot on!
1st and foremost love the tuned vids but id like to see more import stuff s2000 ,civics, nsx, integras, etc thanx
Supra's are really nice, and easy to live with. Really can't go wrong there.
Simply perfect !
Nicely done Supra. That's how I would do it, just maybe another color. Maybe one day I will have one.
