Your video gives a good comparison... but... I'm going say I think it's unfairly bias in favour of the XP50. That's a harsh call possibly, so I'm going to explain. I accept that we all have our own opinions. I own 'big and small' (I'm lucky I guess) and I use both, my 'small' is actually the XQ38 LRF so admittedly an improvement on the XM30F. The XP50 does give a much better image, but it's wrong to say that the XM30F 'begins to struggle at night'... this is simply not correct. At night as temperature drops the difference between warm living and cooler non living becomes accentuated; the truth is a thermal tends to improve at night... not 'start to struggle'. Regarding the Axion being too small for big hands. I'm 6' 1" with pretty big hands and I don't have an issue. If your hands are that big that you can't operate the XM30F... then you've ither got some sort of medical issue.... or you're 'Shrek'! For foxing out to 250 - 300 meters, (well past 99% of night shots), the smaller units are brilliant and you don't have to lug round a dirty big thermal swinging like a mill-stone around your neck. And a final comment in defense of the 'monocular' thermals... THEY DONT SCREW UP YOUR NIGHT VISION ... the biggest issue with the XP50 is that it completely wrecks your natural night vision... you are basically blind once you've used it, it's a major issue that nobody wants to talk about... but believe me, having spent £4.5k on one, it can be a bit of a pi$$er to suddenly realise there is a major down side. at £4.5k the XP50 are a real luxury; but if you're out night foxing, then for me, they are as much of a pain in the ball$ as they are a benefit... If you can afford it, then spend the extra on a good 'monocular'. That's my two penny's worth.
Thanks for the input, we compared the new Axion XM30F alongside some of the other more expensive thermal monoculars on the market, and whilst it doesnt have the legs for long range work, it holds its own with many units costing £500 more. I think with "start to struggle" Tim was referring to at longer ranges.
@@TheNightVisionShow Hi pal Sorry if the lengthy comment came across as a bit of an 'arsey'... it wasn't meant to... I just felt like the smaller units got an unfair bashing at the end; to the extent that you may actually push buyers away from Pulsar over to other brands that don't bash their lower spec models. You do generally get what you pay for, but for 95% of the market 'Bentley' just isn't an option, and in reality the 'Ford' gets you to the same destination just fine. 👍
@@MKChase-uj9vx No hassles, all comments are great! For the money the Axion XM30F is superb but Tims video was about will a cheap thermal do the same job a top end thermal will do...and it wont...to a certain level.
I'm actually very impressed with the Axion XM30F. It is a replacement for the Axion Key, which it beats 'hands-down' for image quality and features. Why would anyone want to buy a Chinese made thermal when you can get a high quality European thermal with superior components and a longer warranty for a similar price? A comparison between the Accolade LRF XP50 Pro and the new Merger LRF XP50 would be good (hint hint).
Perhaps, but for those of us who would be crucified just for looking at a top of the line thermal sideways, it's good to see where that extra money I could never explain to the Mrs actually goes. It's a bit like going to school in your K-mart shoes while everyone else is wearing Nikes.

The most inane comparison I’ve yet seen on thermals, yer pays yer money and yer get what yer gets, pathetic.
