The Patrol agent asked why I was crossing and I told him why. What people don’t understand what Cartel means…. A cartel has a entirely different structure than a mafia, street gang and so on. A cartel is basically a super gang. It consists of multiple (different depending on which cartel) crime groups. For example The Gulf Cartel is named after the region in which they MAINLY operate. But there are like 4-5 separate leaders. Each faction of a cartel usually handles different parts of the “operation” for example one leader and those under him might control political influence (contacts within the government and so on) then there’s almost always a leader who’s not your typical criminal but a crooked businessman using their legitimate connections to export drugs and launder money (hotels, casinos, clubs etc) than there is almost always at least 1 or 2 leaders who are responsible for the “military wing” of the cartel. And so on and so on. The group that kidnapped and murdered these Americans wasn’t high ranking members of the Gulf Cartel and probably not even members of the Cartel. They were a gang that works under the Gulf cArtel called Scorpions. Scorpions are in American gangland measurements a powerful but streetlevel gang that has it’s focus on commiting violent acts on the behalf of the Gulf Cartel. Most likely they did this shit on their own accord without the Gulf Cartels blessing. The publicity and attention the kidnap/murders received from the media didn’t sit well with the gulf cartel (killing Americans is nothing they encourage due to the fear of Uncle Sam / aka the only thing a Mexican cartel fears. So the bigger fish (the gulf cartel) probably just took the ones responsible for the kidnap/murder and served them on a platter to distance themselves from the actions of the scorpions. As they know what the scorpions did was stupid. It’s not that the gulf cartel care about this Americans. They just know this was a sloppy job and brand way too much attention. Trust me. If and when the actual cartels kills Americans… there won’t be any witnesses and no bodies will be found. That’s how they operate. What people don’t understand what Cartel means….
A cartel has a entirely different structure than a mafia, street gang and so on. A cartel is basically a super gang. It consists of multiple (different depending on which cartel) crime groups. For example The Gulf Cartel is named after the region in which they MAINLY operate. But there are like 4-5 separate leaders. Each faction of a cartel usually handles different parts of the “operation” for example one leader and those under him might control political influence (contacts within the government and so on) then there’s almost always a leader who’s not your typical criminal but a crooked businessman using their legitimate connections to export drugs and launder money (hotels, casinos, clubs etc) than there is almost always at least 1 or 2 leaders who are responsible for the “military wing” of the cartel. And so on and so on. The group that kidnapped and murdered these Americans wasn’t high ranking members of the Gulf Cartel and probably not even members of the Cartel. They were a gang that works under the Gulf cArtel called Scorpions.
Scorpions are in American gangland measurements a powerful but streetlevel gang that has it’s focus on commiting violent acts on the behalf of the Gulf Cartel. Most likely they did this shit on their own accord without the Gulf Cartels blessing. The publicity and attention the kidnap/murders received from the media didn’t sit well with the gulf cartel (killing Americans is nothing they encourage due to the fear of Uncle Sam / aka the only thing a Mexican cartel fears. So the bigger fish (the gulf cartel) probably just took the ones responsible for the kidnap/murder and served them on a platter to distance themselves from the actions of the scorpions. As they know what the scorpions did was stupid. It’s not that the gulf cartel care about this Americans. They just know this was a sloppy job and brand way too much attention. Trust me. If and when the actual cartels kills Americans… there won’t be any witnesses and no bodies will be found. That’s how they operate. I’m Colombian so I know a lot about how cartels operate and the Mexican cartel structure is just like the Colombian cartels. Just as the Italian-American New York mafia works similar to their Canadian or Italian counterparts
