I should say that I am very interested in learning what the great confederate general Robert E. Lee’s father in law who was one of Martha Washington’s grandchild got from the Martha Washington’s will

I’m a little confused about the Custis chest. During one point a tour of Mr Vernon stayed that it was kept in the open, in Washington’s private office. This video seems to state that it was kept among Martha’s possessions. Can you clarify?

We have all seen your virtue signaling. Just let the rest of us learn history.

@@ednakelley814 If being disgusted by slavery is "virtue signaling" to you, then you really do need to learn history.

@@benubird6125 Your comment only states the obvious. Every one knows that slavery was disgusting, so your comment was really just you posting a political statement on a history video.

@@ednakelley814 All of what we call history is a political statement. And considering how many people are enslaved today (under the pretty name "human trafficking"), looks like we haven't learned anything.

@@benubird6125there is a time and place for your speech. I'm just saying a history video isn't the place. I'm not trying to sound rude to you. Forgive me if I am. But I'm a professional historian and we historians and historic museums and homes are under attack in this new Politically correct age. People treat us as if we are to blame for slavery when we are only the teachers. Take a moment and look up Mt. Vernon videos, Monticello videos, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage home videos and read through the comments. You see they can't go after those who are guilty of slavery since they are long dead so they go after historians and historic sites. If we talk about slavery they say "you are glorifying and romanticizing " slavery. If we stop talking about slavery they say you" are white washing or glossing over" slavery. See what I'm saying. Hope this helps you see what I'm talking about
