Your process is very similar to mine with only a couple deviations. First, when turning the outside, I do it left handed with a large, lidded garbage can next to the lathe. Doing it this shoots a good bit of the shavings into the can and not on the floor. The second deviation is in hollowing where I drill a depth hole in the center before starting to hollow.
Looked like there was part of the pith remaining in blank. Will that be a problem for you later?

You make it look so easy. I’ve put my one and only cored bowl in a wheely bin full of shavings to dry 🌞

Thanks very much Ray, I just pop them up on the rack and leave to dry it seems to work well for me, I lose an odd one to cracking but that makes a good candidate for milliput or some other form of filling 👍

Sweet chestnut is one of my favourite woods for colour and grain. Simple but charming. I've not had any green chestnut though. I have been doing some part turning of cherry, ash and silver birch though. I was mixing the pva glue with water. Have you found just pva glue better?

Thanks for watching Rachel, I mix a tiny bit of water in just to help it spread around a bit, I always put a few coats on it seems to work for me, with the exception of a few causality 😁
