At the end of his journey, and his fighting he sacrifices himself and his son comes to rip himself from his father. This time the soldiers armor is in gold. Signifying that yes his son will do better than his father.
Seeing this turn into a movie would be awesome I love this game it has so much rich lore and story behind it. It feels like playing The Bible if it were a videogame just an inverted version of it.
