As a veteran myself, I'd like to take a moment to recognize two of my personal heroes. My father who was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his service in the Pacific during WWII. Ione of my dearest friends (murdered by wife, sister-in-law, & mother-in-law), was home in NY on leave and some derelict fool spit on him. I dated a lot of boys involved in Nam who’d fought. Some came home, some did not. My generation was against the war, but had respect for our soldiers, as least I did. Many of our fathers fought in WWll. I watched almost every single soldier from Nam who came off the planes and back on the earth of the U.S.A. I was happy, but still I cried. Each soldier who fights in our armed forces is a hero. Thanks.

My Dad was a veteran who served three years in the Pacific Theatre on an aircraft carrier. He joined the Navy at seventeen because he believed in the great experiment of the democratic republic that was the USA. He took advantage of the GI Bill after WWII ended and got his MS from a great state Big 10 university. He would be horrified about what has happened to his country that he served in a time of great crisis. When he was declining in health from Alzheimer’s, it became easier for him to be emotional. Knowing that #TraitorTrump became president, someone who knows nothing of service and whom my Dad always disdained, would have broken his heart.
I think my dad who served in the navy as well as my husband would be rolling in their graves as well. It’s a shame but I won’t give up on America for the likes of Donald. ☮️🇺🇸💙

Having experienced firsthand the Flint Michigan water crisis… it doesn’t really matter who’s in government… both parties have ignored people who drank that poison, like myself. At the least, we should have been given Medicaid coverage for life… but that was too much to ask.

Then General Motors demanded the water be switched back because the water was corroding the truck bodies. I drank coffee made from tap water in the plant. Thinking of my father and uncles who fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Also working on my personal stance and goals to remain healthy and productive in these times. Giving a garden tour tomorrow will help!☀️
My immigrant father, and both my uncles, are buried in Multnomah National Cemetery near Portland. Army, Air Force and Navy, served in wars and peace. They are the ones I honor, and all those resting beneath crosses, Stars of David and unmarked graves, and all the other people who have given life and bounty to this nation by keeping it. Keeping it selflessly through wars and peace. By serving for greater good. The perversion of this election result is in large part a result of self- centered thinking - or not thinking at all. So, I grieve.
I don’t say it expressly but it’s comments like yours that remind me what matters - the exchange of thoughts that matter. I’m so glad I started this - the walk ad talks - during the pandemic. What you Paula Marie and others share is what life is about.
@johnflannery2185 I am deeply moved by your presence and heartbased expressions, John. A lifelink, much needed. We are from the same deep roots, values, intentions, and history. I am glad for that. You and the Gang of the Dirt Road are my family, too. Merci millefois.
You're right, John, about protecting ourselves psychologically. Remember how we felt between 2016 and 2020? Remember the daily media coverage of every burp from trump's big belly? I'm going to wait until the actual Inauguration before I give up all hope that this election will right itself. But if the worst happens, zero news for me.
I'm on Long Island, the terrain where you are looks like Suffolk county, trees bare, but it's mild today, lots of birds which I feed all year, I've of course heard of zeldin...he's a zero, a real Trumper. Trump's cabinet looks as repulsive as his MSG debacle. OMG, Elon Musk is repulsive too. I'm surrounded, on my street, by coastal elites who are Trumpers, from what I've observed, help! My neighbor, a long time friend, is not a Trump fan, thank God. My father was in the Navy in WWII, uncles too. My cousin is a Vet, he served in Vietnam, my late brother-in-law too. I wanted to put flag out, but it was too windy, although it was a beautiful day. Thank you for your talks. I really need them.
I spent four years in the US Navy during the VietNam conflict (tell me it wasn't a war). My dad and his two brothers served during WW11, along with my mom's twin brothers. My brother served, my son served, as did my husband. The thought of this bone spurr person being Commander in Chief, with his threat to use our military against our citizens should they use their First Amendment rights and assemble/protest/petition gives me whiplash from shaking my head. Now, for the teacher/mom voice...John, you walk at dusk, down a late Fall landscape on a country road in a DARK jacket...please stay safe.
Makes me a communist simpathizer...seeing low pay, no benefits, no paid vacation, sick leave, high ass rents and property taxes ...no educational opportunities, sad but I am now denouncing the united states ..note I did not capitalize...😮😢just down right shity and sorry ..idios 😮😊
I go out in my backyard. I'm lucky. It's big and filled with many different trees...like a park. Lots of fallen leaves too. I have a statue of St. Francis, which comforts me.
Thank you! Yes, my grandfather, father, brother and friends all served in wars of every generation. Thank you for your very honorable address to our country and sharing your grounded and informative knowledge. You are a genuine American leader. 🙏⭐
I thought about my great uncle Steve who was a doughboy during WW1, who fought in the trenches. Every day to him was heavenly, because nobody was shooting at him, and he didn't have to shoot at anyone else. So I understand the sacrifice, and he was one of the lucky ones to have survived. The freedom and government we take for granted was saved through their sacrifices. 🗽🇺🇸⚖️🌎
John - Thank you for your gracious “our” cathedral of trees at the end of the video; It speaks to your thoughtfulness and generosity of spirit. I’m always grateful for these walk and talks. And for the DRG!
Thank you John. I am a vet and so discouraged that the MSOB called us losers. It may have been Sherman or Lincoln who said if General McClellan was shot at by a Rebel he would beshite is small clothes. When I think of the cowardness and dithering of a person like T**d, when called upon to protect our country, McClellan comes to mind.
USAF Vet here. I am so disgusted. Where do we go from here? At this point I'm hoping that Midterm elections happen. As an older Vet with only Soc Sec it is very unsettling to say the least.
This pattern of the failure to equally apply and enforce the law permeates our society at every level. We start teaching it in the schools. I spent 16 years in the high schools of SW Virginia. Every year, they harped at the teachers to enforce the rules. Do you know who did not enforce the rules and hold the students accountable? That's right. The administrators. And who got away with the most? The white football players and cheerleaders, especially when their parents knew an administrator. This has been going on for decades. When you have rules or laws that you only talk about, that you only enforce selectively, if at all, you create a culture of defiance. I know exactly who the maggots are. I watched them being created right in front of me for 16 years.
@@adriennebirecree6306 I taught High School at Quintano’s in mid-town Manhattan while undergrad at Columbia and then at law school. It was a school for mostly young actors. We did not have a varying application of the rules but it was a small school and I think that was the reason. As a parent, in connection with public schools, I have seen what you describe.
@johnflannery2185 You have no idea how much I appreciate you! I am so full of anger, and I live surrounded by extreme ignorance. Thank you, John Flannery. You say, "we have a couple of problems about how we think". 🤣 I'll say!! And it's not funny, as you point out. As the days pass, I am more and more confused and confounded about the logic in use by so many Americans. How in the world .... ?? But I better not get started. Have been trying for a couple of days to monitor my thoughts and words in an attempt to protect my own sanity and physical health. Good grief! Having said that, thank you for your work that you bring forth for The Dirt Road Gang. It is life-saving.
The problem as I see it is that politicians, voters are not serious about ANYTHING. ZELDIN'S Appointment is an act in a play that that will cause the audience to be poisoned by the evil Actor's performance. They sit in their seats and clap ..never knowing or caring what will happen to them. Complete unseriousness
My father served in the Navy in the Pacific fighting the Japanese. He was on a ship in Tokyo Bay when Japan signed the surrender. When he returned, he used the GI Bill to go to school and become an Aerospace engineer for 35 years. This allowed him and mom to raise this family of nine on a single income. I don’t now how half of my siblings can ignore this and vote for trump.
Remember when trump was president. He found the most destructive people he could find and put them in charge of the exact thing they would destroy. Betsy Devos for education for a small example.
If I could join a thing that could change the direction of this country, I would. The problem with America, umong other things, is a lack of leadership and will. I've asked so many leaders where should I join and they look back at me with a blank stare. I will probably leave the United States because no one truly wants to save America, uphold it's laws, or build an ethical society. I can't fight alone.

What’s frustrating for me at the age of 72 is that what I want you to do, I can’t do - but I will do what I can.
Thinking of my father and uncles who fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Also working on my personal stance and goals to remain healthy and productive in these times. Giving a garden tour tomorrow will help!☀️
Good for you and those who join you.
Thanks John for those Sincere Heartfelt Words....
You and the
Gang of the Dirt Road are my family, too.
I won’t listen to him when he addresses the public. I’ll turn my back on him. He’s a disgrace.
Thank you, John. As always, a good meal of food for thought.
GOOD EVENING JOHN. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO! THANK YOU!⚖️🗽☮️🇺🇸🙏🌍🪽
I spent four years in the US Navy during the VietNam conflict (tell me it wasn't a war).
Thanks for caring. I hate that darkness comes on so early. I carry a light and I’m wearing a reflecting jacket. Nice Janet.
Johns walk and talks. A quiet place in these hectic spaces🕍➡️🍀🌱☘️🍀🌱🌿🌳🌲🌳🌳🌲🌳🌳🍀🌱🍀🌱☘️🤸♂️💃🕺👣👣👣👍
Recounting election votes and proper investigation is necessary.
Thanks, John. Good evening, DRG. 💙
You’re in Loudoun. I grew up in Leesburg. Nice to know we have some common roots.
💙 Thank you Sir John. SW MO here. Beautiful. Horribly Red Red Red. But I will continue to aspire to grow where my roots are..
John - Thank you for your gracious “our” cathedral of trees at the end of the video; It speaks to your thoughtfulness and generosity of spirit. I’m always grateful for these walk and talks. And for the DRG!
Thanks John. This video is so relevant ✅ 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
" ... now we're going to go insane ..." It seems to be the case.🌳🍂
We are living in bizarro world!
It’s less likely if we don’t by the bs and know it for what it is.
Thank You!!
I am struggling to determine how to channel this anger into something positive. Thank you so much for your daily walks. I am so proud to be a member of the Dirt Road Gang! I am also a fellow New Yorker. Stay strong. Keep your faith alive. All the BEST to you and Holly!
Thank you John…❤️❤️🙏💙
Well he is doing it today, named the most deplorable people so far it’s disgusting.
@LindyS1830
I think his only requirement is that they call him "sir."
He's literally a domestic terrorist.
As always....thank you John. My "give a damn" is busted right now, but hearing you daily will help repair it.
We can’t subscribe to Pollyanna nonsense. We must find the facts and act accordingly.
@@johnflannery2185
Most definitely!
Thank you, John~
He won't sign the Ethics Oath, what dies that tell you, he's telling you no holds bared..
Cathedral prayers for vets .
You are not alone!
John your talks are an island of sanity ……. I no longer watch MSM they treat this as entertainment ……… I’m still wondering on 17-20 million votes!
I feel and think the same.
Definitely, some nefarious activities have been in the works for quite a while.
Five eyes to the rescue?
💙
Another fine message…2 in 1 day!! Thank you! And I enjoyed hearing the birds as you spoke.
Thank you!
Thanks for keeping us informed.
my dad patched many guys in nam and germany to talk w their parents from his ham radio..the faa drove by every month about his antenna.. so to you guys that called home with willies help, cq, cq.
I always enjoy "walking" along with you.
Is it possible there was some logic, other than timidity, in how Merrick Garland proceeded regarding Trump?
I doubt we will get the full story.
@@billw5189 I suspect Biden told him - we’ll handle him at the ballot box.
Thanks!
We should not obey in advance!
Along this line, John, you take up issues that are important such as appointing people to administer our key organizations to dismantle them, I continue to wonder why Louis DeJoy remains Post Master General.
Today's paradise put up a parking lot .
a riddle?!?!?! too visceral!!! TY
Just subscribed, like your walks and talks.
@@antoniawe Welcome to our dirt road gang.
Is there a better way to say self-hobbler that makes sense to more and will pass the algorithm? lol
Thank you once again for the walk.
Need to tell that school bus about the 15 mph John Zone.
Thank you, John.
Well said 👍
I’m in Australia so very different
Thank u
Good evening, I have recently been reading “The Ruse and Fall of the Roman Empire. I must admit the events in the U.S.A., over the past decade, have started to lead me in the direction of forming the opinion that the U.S. is in the decline of their empire. Unless a drastic course correction is taken over the next few years this will play out I. The U.S.A.
@@marilynhoward380 Another scary read is Oswald Spengler, he predicted our downfall. If we don’t turn this monster around, the Republic could be at an end.
@ I will try to find the book you suggested and next time I make a reply I will put on my reading glasses.
As I am scrolling through the videos on this link, UA-cam day count shows that November 6th (the day we all found out the election results) was only seven days ago. It’s felt like a lifetime already. Down the rabbit hole we go…
thanks for the look
John - please debate the WHAT IF ...if BIDEN had been left on the top of the ticket, and everyone had stayed in 100%.
He would have lost after the debate performance.
@@BeatTrump You do not have a crystal ball
@@BeatTrumpI don’t think he would have lost if the media didn’t downplay the multitude of lies that spewed out of trdumps pie hole my head was spinning with all his lies
I think about that, too.

All the best.😺🇱🇷
John, you're using logic, ethics, and compassion. They don't.
@@poetguygabe Otherwise, we’re them. but I know you know that.
@johnflannery2185 Yes, and we don't want to be that way. Some people have lost hope, but not me. 50 years of treatment-resistant depression has given me opportunities to rebuild hope, again and again.
We will make it through the dark times.
Thank you for providing your positive perspective and a message of hope.
I hope your day is as fabulous as you are 🐬✨🦋🐳
Thank you sir.
John, how about when Saint Ronny installed James Watt as secretary of the Interior, way back when the right wing when nuts.
@@jameslandi4688 I think about Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Bush 1 and w, and their scandals, but this feels larger and worse than those, and we’ve lost a step, a big one with this “election.”
In Blue Illinois , I work in a place where I am one of few now. This state will be red if people don’t regain consciousness.
Fellow Illinoisan here and I share your concern. Fortunately, I work from home and am not faced with the lemmings in the current workplaces. Thanks to Mr. Flannery and as Tim Walz said, "get back in the fight when you're ready".
Thank you
Thank you. It's a very scary future.
Glad my WWII Dad isn't on this planet to witness.

I was looking at moving to Ireland, but it's more expensive than the U.S., and it's hard to find a secure country to move to. South America is very inexpensive, but with the drug cartels and the unstable governments (like ours!), you don't know what you're getting into.
@@paulfiedler9128 We are like plants at a certain age who require the geographic environment their collective body knows but that doesn’t mean one can’t change. I think one has to try a vacation where one would go. I don’t see that kind of change for me. But it may suit others.
