- In April 2007 William Trubridge set a new world record in Unassisted Freediving, descending to 82 meters (269 feet) and returning without the use of fins or any other assistance.
This is the official video of the world record, presented by Vertical Blue (www.verticalblue.net)
The dive took place at Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas, which at 203m (660 feet) is the deepest blue hole in the world.
The video uses music from the Gladiator soundtrack as well as 'Solar Stone' by Seven Cities.
Wow! That's the most respectful freediving record I've ever seen.Truly remarkable!
one word..."perfection", you make freediving an art
Well done, William Trubridge. You're right up there - or down there! - with Yasemin Dalkilic and Herbert Nitsch. Inspiring.
This is diving! In it's pure form.... Amazing!
My deepest respects!!!
absolutely remarkable....freediving is so under-rated...its an amazing sport!
This is already on UA-cam, but I thought I should put it in my profile as well.
Cheers, William.
My head aches just watching that. Immense pressure.
Back to those days diving with the mask....10 years and 20 meters deeper! The Legend!
just technique that we've learned. It's easier than most think. Alot of it is about relaxing and slowing down your heart rate.
3 minutes and 9 seconds all without the use of an air tank? At THAT deep with your lungs being compressed from the pressure? Okay, I'm impressed.
If you took a freediving class- you could get to over 4 mins with the right training. in about a day. Not to mention all the other life saving techniques you would learn- priceless.
congratulations for new record.
Thanks for sharing.
decompression stops and slow ascents is required for scuba diving only.
It's an amazing video!
Hi Paulo,
I still have to equalise, it's just I can do it without having to block my nose with my hand (with training my Eustachian tubes open easily).
These days I use fluid goggles and a noseclip, which makes it even easier to equalise.
amazing man, you make it look so easy!
Absolutely crazy, but very magnificent accomplishment. Not my endevor but congratulations.
you are amazing!
exactly. slowing down the rate at which you pump blood= the slower you lung give that oxygen to your blood
The stars beyond
Awesome..
William that was excellent, Can you kindly tell us how did you hold your breathe ? Any tips ? = ) Thank you.
I actually might be because a friend told me this happened to him on a dive... I dont know if they were at 90 meters but he told me his novice dive partner wasn't getting any air when they were really deep/ and instead of using the extra air hose on his buddy's tank he just shot straight up to the surface in panic mode... they helicoptered him to decompression chamber when he got to the surface they said he was bleeding pretty bad... the story was passed around so im really not sure if its true.
great.....wow
Wonderfull
THis is amazing. I have a question though. how does he keep going down without popping his ears? i have to pop my ears every twenty feet when i free dive
Wow that would be amazing, I wish I could hold my breath for over 30 seconds. How do you hold your breath so long?
I wouldn't even want to watch someone do this i'd be scared.
dude ivve scuba dived there!
Man hes good at holdin his breath i would dive 3m and then have to come up to breath
@williamtrubridge ......sweet ..... will this hurt them at all ???
hi,am looking to getting into the sport What do you make of the expand-a-lung device/product thing? Thanks
WOOOOOOOOWW
1.5mm Orca Alpha wetsuit. No weight for my body type.
whats the song..........iv been looking fot that for age but dont bloody know the name......... someone plzzzzzzz
Do u steer with ur feet? iam really impressed! I like to be underwater 2. only there is nothing deeper then 20 meters here :( so i try to do distance, personal record is 75 meters :P
Bur this is just sick!
You only need a special mix if you plan on staying down there any length of time... If you go down then up and aren't taking onboard air whilst down there then why would you need special mixes as there isn't much opportunity for the nitrogen to enter your muscles...
how do you hold ur breath that long any training tips.
@DestroyerOfDouches
Y u have to be carefull with ur ears! He is a pro he knows what he is doing. So i wont be carefull with going to deep
i think those goggle pinch his nose for him then just blows
nice =)
I would like to know what idiots gave it 3 thumbs down which is appalling to me.
@whopperhead which obviously is the easiest thing to to, for the most of us
I think that takes loot of training...My record was only for 22m. in 15 years old.Without training.I wish someone trained me ;(
wtf, how does camera man not get record?
how did you do that!!
He is "Clearing" his ears. But doing it Hands Free. by using his tongue as a piston- pumps air from his lungs. It's the same as if you pinch your nose- some can do it HANDS FREE. or sometimes they will wear Nose Clips. But then you have to have special goggles instead of mask.
This dude must me on lung steroids or somthing i can see 100 ft for 2m but that deep for that long!!!
And I thought free diving down to 20m with fins was scary..... Was William raised by fish or something?
and then he sees a shark
the cameraguy 's not free diving.
you need to equalise your ears. Pinch your nose through your mask and try to exhale through your nose. The air will go into your ears instead, equalising them with a popping noise. Try on land before you take it into the water!
was awesome, but doesn't his body need time to decompress on the way up???
at 90 meters, you need to come up from a scuba dive slowly so it takes like 15 or 20 minutes, that way your lungs and body aren't affected by the pressure... this one guy started bleeding through the ears on a dive, he came up too fast because he lost his mask, he went into panic and went straight for the top, blood sprayed out of his ears and nose, massive internal damage to brain and shit.... hospital for sure.
w0w
I swan there in that hole, yay me........but ofcourse i dnt go that deep.:P
lol
geico is horrible.
