  • In April 2007 William Trubridge set a new world record in Unassisted Freediving, descending to 82 meters (269 feet) and returning without the use of fins or any other assistance.
    This is the official video of the world record, presented by Vertical Blue (www.verticalblue.net)
    The dive took place at Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas, which at 203m (660 feet) is the deepest blue hole in the world.
    The video uses music from the Gladiator soundtrack as well as 'Solar Stone' by Seven Cities.

    Well done, William Trubridge. You're right up there - or down there! - with Yasemin Dalkilic and Herbert Nitsch. Inspiring.

    This is already on UA-cam, but I thought I should put it in my profile as well.
    Cheers, William.

    just technique that we've learned. It's easier than most think. Alot of it is about relaxing and slowing down your heart rate.

    3 minutes and 9 seconds all without the use of an air tank? At THAT deep with your lungs being compressed from the pressure? Okay, I'm impressed.

    If you took a freediving class- you could get to over 4 mins with the right training. in about a day. Not to mention all the other life saving techniques you would learn- priceless.

    Hi Paulo,
    I still have to equalise, it's just I can do it without having to block my nose with my hand (with training my Eustachian tubes open easily).
    These days I use fluid goggles and a noseclip, which makes it even easier to equalise.

    I actually might be because a friend told me this happened to him on a dive... I dont know if they were at 90 meters but he told me his novice dive partner wasn't getting any air when they were really deep/ and instead of using the extra air hose on his buddy's tank he just shot straight up to the surface in panic mode... they helicoptered him to decompression chamber when he got to the surface they said he was bleeding pretty bad... the story was passed around so im really not sure if its true.

    You only need a special mix if you plan on staying down there any length of time... If you go down then up and aren't taking onboard air whilst down there then why would you need special mixes as there isn't much opportunity for the nitrogen to enter your muscles...

  • @FreediveKauai
    @FreediveKauai 15 років тому

    He is "Clearing" his ears. But doing it Hands Free. by using his tongue as a piston- pumps air from his lungs. It's the same as if you pinch your nose- some can do it HANDS FREE. or sometimes they will wear Nose Clips. But then you have to have special goggles instead of mask.

    you need to equalise your ears. Pinch your nose through your mask and try to exhale through your nose. The air will go into your ears instead, equalising them with a popping noise. Try on land before you take it into the water!

  • @kingpoop69
    @kingpoop69 15 років тому

    was awesome, but doesn't his body need time to decompress on the way up???
    at 90 meters, you need to come up from a scuba dive slowly so it takes like 15 or 20 minutes, that way your lungs and body aren't affected by the pressure... this one guy started bleeding through the ears on a dive, he came up too fast because he lost his mask, he went into panic and went straight for the top, blood sprayed out of his ears and nose, massive internal damage to brain and shit.... hospital for sure.
