Brilliant episode! I just hope there is an episode where you use an inline free running feeder. I think you'd see more movement on the tip with that. Plus many fisheries around my area don't allow elasticated feeders, and would just be interested to see. Awesome though really enjoyed watching.
Absolutely brilliant,I've never really been that confident in hybrid feeders but seeing this film has changed all that, guess I need to go shopping now😂
Wish i could double like the video. Took me about 2 and half hours to watch because had to keep rewinding, could not believe what my eyes where seeing at times! Big up all the Guru team amazing work👍🎣🐟🎣
7:55 you can see Steve's hand shaking from the adrenaline. He won competitions but is still excited about catching a carp on a normal day, Lovely Chap!
Brilliant, I have never sat still for more than an hour ever, every one has learnt so much from this video. The team needs to try other types of feeder to develop the anglers tactics on this type of water. Keep them coming and thanks very much for taking the time to film them.
Another fantastic video. I could easily sit for another hour and watch that. Very interesting how they behave and how we can all be ‘done’ by that particular fish and never know…That’s fishing ey! Looking forward to EP3 👍 cheers!
These video's echo many of the aspects of the previous Korda underwater series. It reinforces that we all get 'done' a lot and see no indications on the 'tip' or buzzers. It amplifies the fact that you rig should be able to 'reset' itself. Yes, the wafter looks a little unnatural on occasions, but it does 'reset' the hooklink and rig if its picked up and dropped. Another point is that what we do with the rod and reel moves the feeder a lot, but when the fish moves the feeder it does not show on the rod tip. I guess that is because its not a 'running rig' and has no heavy pivot point to keep the line tight, this allows the feeder to be dragged across the bottom without any indications. The only way to counter this would be a very heavy feeder (3oz+) that really drives the hook in hard and makes the fish 'bolt' or maybe the Guru boys could try a 'running' feeder rather than the X-Safe stem. As anglers we like to think of ourselves as 'snipers', but we cannot see wants going underwater. So we are firing into the dark. Unless the rig is good at resetting itself all you get is one shot. Really we should think of ourselves as 'machine gunners' firing into the night. Ensuring that your rig resets every time is like firing lots of bullets rather than thinking your one well aimed shot is going to do the job.
Brilliant watch but my thoughts are, in a normal fishing situation, we are clueless to what is actually going on beneath the surface so I will continue to fish as I always have. I will make changes as I see fit based on what I ‘assume’ is happening and that is all I can do. If it works great, if it doesn’t I will make further tweaks until it does. Without seeing what is actually happening, that is the best I can do. True there are things to take on board from these videos but for every change there is a new problem and so it goes on. As a carp angler as well as a match angler I have watched numerous Korda Underwater videos and come to the same conclusion; there are more questions than answers! Fish what you are confident in, be proactive and enjoy. Great viewing though and very interesting but the elephant in the room is this is only one set of conditions in one swim on one lake. Truth is, unless we ever get to a situation where we can watch every cast we make, in which case I’m out, we will never know what is really happening which is what makes fishing so fascinating and the reason why we love it 😁
Have to say guys , these have been (watched both) absolutely fantastic viewing! Not only for the lessons learned, but the edge of the seat drama. The 2" hook length was a big surprise and for one looking at the current "EMBED MAP" feeder, if the hook bait retention within the feeder isn't the most critical aspect 🤔. On a side note; I know there's talk about televising our sport, if you could have underwater (yes I know the logistics would make it very difficult) you'd be on to a winner! Love the passion, giddiness and presentation of the vlog...... Need more 😬
It's interesting to see how spooky the fish were when the wafter was actually wafting. When the hookbait was stationary, due to the hooklength being buried in the feeder, the carp were more confident. When the hookbait wafted about unnaturally they were so spooky. Unbelievable footage Guru. Well done.
Would of been nice to see method mix in the hybrid and a 50/50 mix of method mix and sticky pellet, different hook pattern, a standard pellet hookbait, A 3” hooklink, and the heaviest hybrid before jumping to the method feeder in the next episode, more questions than answers, addictive watch guys 🎣
Is this a wafters testing video ?😢 Just wanted you to test a pellet more. 6mm 8mm. Matching the bait on the feeder makes me more confident the fish won't spook off like they do when they see a bright pink wafter. Do Love the underwater footage 😮
FYI blue light (higher frequency, shorter wavelength) penetrates water to greater depths. Red light (lower frequency, longer wavelength) gets absorbed more quickly by water and does not penetrate so deep. But at 12 feet there is still plenty of red light around so pink/orange baits stand out well against the yellow/green background colour (which is caused by algae in the water reflecting those colours/frequencies around a lot). From a carp angler who used to be a scuba diver...
Really enjoying this lads, well put together cant wait for part 3! Can you do a small section on what it looks like on the deck when you do it wrong I.E. using a bait thats popped up by 4" as its not balanced the wafter with the weight of the hook? Love to know what the fish do!
Another brilliant video lads, its great to see how little the goo shows, I have real confidence in the yellow/green goo, after watching this tho makes me think otherwise, I can't wait to see this moving onto pole and Bream fishing and maybe on the river 😎
I know you were all thinking colours, but i was thinking just a Black wafter. Because all of those Dark coloured Rocks/pebbles were very visible. Great video very interesting
Brilliant absolutely brilliant answers a lot of questions I wouldn't have believed if someone had told me how long it takes for the tip to move when fish pick the hookbait up. This does prove switching hookbait is essential I do put some free hookbaits in my feed think it makes the fish less spooky. Amazing stuff gents thanks a lot be interesting to see other methods too. 👍
Would love to see you doing this but with a waggler set up and not a feeder, just to see the floats reaction to say fish pick up etc Obviously if it’s within waggler range from the other bank
Guys it looks like the 2 inch hooklenght it have a better presentation but not hooking the fish. It was nice to see that hooklenght with elasticated method👍
I use a 8mm f1 orange spotted fin wafter with spotted fin 2mm catalyst or classic corn ready made pellets in a 24g hybrid feeder the orange I think are the best tight lines.
I used to be a flyfishing guide here in Bristish Columbia, Canada. You might want to think more about what the fish see vs. what you see. Colour may not be as relevant as the UV spectrum that you don't see with human eyes and I am convinced from years of fishing at depth with flies that a bait that gives off strong UV have a big impact in low visability water and at depth beyond sunlight penetration. You can use a simple black light to see what the UV signature is.
they seemed to feed a lot more confidently when then feeder and hook bait weren't in the water, and even after a fish had been hooked and Steve was playing a fish, they came straight onto the remaining bait
Ring the changes comes to mind.... I think Steve has a choco orange addiction 😃😂 Very informative! Thanks guys youv got me testing rigs all the time now 👌
When I first seen the new Map flat feeders with the line clip, I thought that isnt going to work properly as the fish suck the bait up very fast and if you only have a short piece of line you wont get a hook up or proper hook hold, yes it will unclip when a fish is hooked, but surely you need that length for a proper hook up. Of course you will catch but more than likely to catch more without it in the clip. So after watching this underwater video, it has put my theory into practice with you using a 2 inch hook length. What do you think regarding the new map feeder using the clip making the hook length smaller, so not much to suck up?
While somewhat i agree with what you say i think it depends on the water you fish and population,in the video we dont see roach,Bream,or tench, crucians or f1's carp are like cows and f1's raptors,on a commercial the map feeder will outscore most probably or not but if your competing for food the outcome can be very difficult. It seems to me this experiment is about carp and only carp.
@@robertwren8878 Yes totally agree with you, specially about more activity in your swim and competing more so will be more aggressive, so would the 2 inch to a 4 inch make a big difference, or in a clip or not. Possibly not. For me a line in a feeder clip making it say 1inch/2inch or even a 2inch hooklength loose, doesn't give the fish much to suck in. But everyday is different and fish feed differently, so swaping and changing to find what is best on the day certainly plays the part. Plus confidence aswell, for me if I'm carping I'll fish a long hooklength which prob be 8/10" before a carp feels the lead once hooked, and when I'm coarse/match on the feeder I've never changed from a 4inch. Will I buy a few map feeders yeah of course, I like the look of them, will it help me catch more fish, who knows!!.

I tried to have a conversation with them about the hooking properties of the new feeder at the big one exhibition but none of them would actually get involved in a discussion they were just like "sucks it in and its on" repeatedly. I kept saying no it's more complicated than that but they didn't want to debate.
It is literally the MOST informative fishing video i have EVER seen!
Absolutely fascinating. A similar video showing how pole rigs behave in the water and how fish respond to them would be amazing to watch.
What’s great bunch of videos , love the excitement of the fellow ginger.
5:32 the best bait alarm I've ever heard: "its on its on its on" 😂😂😂❤❤❤

@@FISHINGMINTY that’s what I thought, rotate baits if the bites drop off either a different colour or a different type of bait
Exactly what I thought. I wanted a match the hatch on after 10 mins, I'm sure they were spooking off the bright one...

Would using a free running feeder show the pick-ups better than a fixed rig when the fish doesn't move away?
I wanted to see difference between Wafter on Top, middle and bottom. Or wafter and sinker.
Did Steve try stem with elastic???
For something like this I'd always use a short bit of braid anyone got any good reasons that he sticks to mono on this setup. Braid seems to have a lot of advantages when fished short and with tangles eliminated with the plugged into feeder element.

2 inch hooklength worked just fine. On both occasions the fish was hooked.
