      Yeah, it doesn't happen everyday to find a bunch of broken items of the same model on eBay. I went for it and was super fun and satisfying!

    Great video. I own a GE AVR model 3-5376A. It worked great but sat in a box for 20+ years. Now i just hear the motor trying. I loved thus little device. Really want to get it going again.

    Just wanted to thank you, my grandmother found an old tape deck and I was able to fix a broken sony 830 to play it. Really appreciate it

    Omg you are a fucking hero, I bought the same player at a flea market and it had a problem with the belt like in the first one. The belt was getting too loose aswell, I basically just twisted it to make it shorter. Maybe it's not gonna last long but now it is playing the cassette properly. Thanks a lot for your video friend.😄

      Hi! Glad to hear that, but I would really suggest you to get a new belt as I did. Find it on eBay and install it, you'll bring it to new life ;)

      Even if Im not into cassette players, I do try to repair electronics from time to time and your video can be useful like in this case.

    hi, are you playing these back at full volume?
    i'm repairing a sony m-100mc which seems like a similar board and mechanism, but after replacing belt and testing, the playback level seemed low, at full volume. but it seems around the same volume as your players. is this normal for microcassette recorders? are they ever loud? i've never used one before. thanks!

      Hi! Well, it's always not recommended to play them at full volume as it might damage the speaker itself.
      However I know what you mean and I had some dictaphones with the same issue. Last one I fixed it simply replacing the speaker, and it worked greatly.
      I'm not an expert, I'm learning by doing. From my understanding it can be also a matter of capacitors, or maybe the volume switch is not working properly or needs some clean up.
      Good luck!

      @@macropathsoundscapes thank you for the response! i am also learning by doing :) and asking :D. the volume pot does not crackle when i turn it so it seems like that is fine?
      i will try to check the caps.. it seems really tedious!

    I was looking for a video like this a while ago, because i have an old one that doesnt work. Those two black knobs aren’t spinning and its making a white noise sound. Any idea what the issue is?

    • @macropathsoundscapes
      @macropathsoundscapes  Рік тому

      Hi, well hard to say, but if you watch carefully this video it could be helpful as I handled 5 of them. In most of the cases is a belt issue and it needs to be replaced.

    These Sony cassette recorders must not be any good regardless of model there are a Billion of them on eBay for parts or repair I have ordered several that were supposed to be tested and working only to discover they were DOA absolutely mind boggling.
