The Matty Cartridge comes out too, I think you've missed that in the last few videos. Love love LOVE your breakdown timelines in the videos btw, game changer!
First of all... Don't look into the trap!😂 The Matty trap closing sequence is meant for the laser light sequence grabbing the ghost and pulling it into the trap, the movies take about 4 seconds to close too, it was not an immediate close. Also the Matty trap came with red and silver cylinders that allow switch from GB1 and GB2, it doesn't change the sound, just the look. I do agree with the AMC doors, but it comes with the giant purple popcorn bucket goes into the trap and the strong lights illuminated your popcorn, so for amc... not bad for being a popcorn bucket. I wish I would have gotten two Matty traps when they came out for $50. I spent alot form mine, but now there is the haslab that is cool, I will wear it at events in Detroit like parades, but for more people crowding I use a spirit trap. Love your channel, I wish I would have been able to meet you in New York for Ghostbusters Day 2024, I missed you in the crowd, maybe next time! Matt Ghostbusters Detroit
I looked into the trap 🫠 lol. I too wished I would’ve picked up a Matty trap way back in the day. I’ll be back in NY for GB Day 2025, so maybe we’ll bump into each other then. Shoutout Ghostbusters Detroit! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
The ghost trying to escape is definitely my favourite feature of the matty trap. I do want to note since it didn't come up in this video that the matty trap cartridge also comes out, just like the haslab.
The Matty PKE sounds are beeps similar to the spirit PKE, though the spirit PKE has a little extra to it’s sound, where the matty is just a straight beeping sound. You can also mute the matty by holding down two buttons (something I learnt from the ghostbusters equipment guide in the ghostbusters employee welcome kit).
I was surprised that you didn't mention the speed control wheel on the Matty pke. That's one of my favourite features, the ability to control how fast or slow the lights and sounds are with the discreet wheel on the underside. Especially great at conventions. Good fun scanning passers by, dialing up the speed to indicate you're getting a stronger reading.
That really is a great feature of the Matty! Unfortunately I had to cut so much of the video down in length as originally it was 70+ mins long :/ But that is a great callout and definitely a +1 for Matty 👍🏼
Great vid, don't stop. Now on to thet hings I noticed you didn't notice. One. Even though the Matty PKE meter had the fatter wings, it was probably due to the bulbs being a little more recessed than they should have been. Two, if you watch Ghostbusters again and pay attention to just the PKE meter, you'll notice that it has the same wing animations as the Matty PKE, exactly two positions, partially out and all the way. Three. The differences between the Spirit trap and the Wal-Mart trap was that the latter had a pedal permanently attached to it with no handle button. And the pedal was a sewing machine pedal, so no lights on it. Four. The rods on the Haslab trap are movie coded for the sounds. Red= Ghostbusters ghosts Silver= Ghostbusters II ghosts
Awesome write up man. Good callout on the Walmart trap! I wasn’t aware of that 👍🏼. Some of the other bits I had cut out due to length of this video (was originally 70mins long 😬) Or I had mentioned in my original Haslab unboxing video. It’s tough sometimes including every single detail, but also trying to retain audience retention. Once again, thanks for the pointers, and the kind words 🙏🏻
@Ghost1MoreMod You're welcome. And I did watch your review vid for the Two in the Box, but didn't comment on it, but wanted to on this one because of the Wal-Mart trap being mentioned. The neat thing about the Wal-Mart trap is that it uses almost the exact mold as the Spirit trap, except that there's a rectangular notch cut out for the pedal wires to come out and they modified the gearing of the doors to be run by a motor, and a new cover for the top of the handle. Other than that, it's the same trap.
I own the AMC trap which I altered the doors, bought stickers, and painted a few spots, Spirit Halloween trap, also painted, and added stickers, to display next to the Haslab one next to my cardboard containment unit.
I've been waiting for a video of this quality on these. Well done man!!!! Such a cool video! PS: You may have missed that the Haslab PKE doesn't iluminate the lower lights with each button press like the GB1 GB2 and the Matty. The Haslab PKE was so close, but the display and the lights let it down a bit. But the EMF functions blows everything away. It's so mysterious it adds a whole dimension! But keep up with these awesome videos! You gained a subscriber! Maybe add a video on the different ghost sounds on the trao and what they are? Or maybe a video on the development of the Haslabs? The trap (vector plate height) etc. seems to be a stunt GB1 GB2 base? The Haslab pedal prototype shown also had a more realistic pedal relay box and banjo box (height). The final they increased the heights? It's fascinating to see what they decided. Also the Haslab trap the relay is back to front. The "Italy" label should face out (can't change that without sanding away a TINY tab).Use ghostbustersreferencelibrary. Also maybe look on the GBfans thread on adding realistic weathering to the cable (Rub and Buff?). Also fyi: The Matty trap cable could be replaced with a simple female to female audio jack. (headphone)
@@gold333 Thank you so much for the kind words. I try to be thorough, fair, and honest in all of my videos. That said, the original version of this was 70 mins long, so many things did get cut to get length down. I appreciate all of the various topics to explore. I’ll check them out! And thanks for the sub 🙏🏻
@@Ghost1MoreMod No sweat man, look foreward to it! PS: One more thing I discovered is that the relay on the trap does in fact face the right way if we go by the Slimer trapping scene in GB1 so that's cool!
In the first two movies, there was a delay when you shut the trap, as it 'sucked' the ghost in. I wish the haslab one did exactly what the matty does, sequence-wise. Especially the banging around ghost.. that was brilliant. Hope someone figures out a mod to make the haslab do it.. they'll get my money for sure.
Movie-accurate sound, taser function, EMF function, fine motor control of the wings...I'm okay with the HasLab PKE being a little on the chunky side, considering everything that they've had to pack into it. It's an amazing piece of kit and I'm very glad I own one. I have one or two minor gripes with the Ghost Trap...but again, considering how beautiful it looks and all the extra functionality they packed into it...I have ZERO regrets.
@@Ghost1MoreMod Absolutely! If someone wanted to commission custom props of equivalent form and function, you'd be spending AT LEAST two to three times as much. Believe me, I've looked into it. 🙂
Regarding the delay on the closing for the Matty trap, that's film accurate to GB1, when Ray closes the trap he hits the pedal and that initiates the capture sequence which takes several seconds.
@@GeoffreyToday 100%. It does simulate that very well. I just prefer the instant response personally. But it would’ve been cool if It was an option/mode to have the closing sequence or instant close.
Im definitely gonna get the 2 in the box eventually, i have had the spirit pke since 2018 when i was 13 so its safe to it has "natural weathering" still on my kit to this day, greetings from a Foothills Ghostbusters member!
The stock Matty PKE had a generic beeping sound, whose speed could be controlled the dial wheel on the back of the handle. Also, the two silver buttons above those you demonstrated could be held down for finer armature control.
@ you’re welcome, but I would like an explanation of the EMF mode. I have the HasLab PKE and I don’t see much difference between it and the other mode. Also, out of the box one of the arms was out of alignment when fully extended. I slightly loosened the screw and that seemed to help, but I was wondering if applying some silicone lubricant might work better.
I was always in the minority that I thought the haslab was very well made, i knew it was going to be larger to account for the afterlife design changes amd im glad its part ofy kit. If I would chamge nything is the "taser" function as I not only find it ridiculous but its also a structural weakpoint that needs to he accounted for. Also the closing sequence on the matry trap is still theost accurate sequence weve been given as the first step is to open or "prime" the trap and second press activate the capture and contain sequence, a detail I wish the haslab had. The only thing on the haslab I hate is the random ghost sounds. I just want it on my belt and make no sounds
The Matty Cartridge comes out too, I think you've missed that in the last few videos. Love love LOVE your breakdown timelines in the videos btw, game changer!

This is my favourite song video reviewing these items that I’ve seen, by a long aay
Thank you! That means a lot 🙏🏻
I'll never quite understand why Haslab didn't match the gimmicks of the Matty trap, or how they screwed up that bar graph.

Not to mention the spirit trap has some more proper warning stickers thatn the popcorn bucket
Yup. And I like how they include them separately in the box, so technically you could place them wherever you want (should you choose to do so)

i prefer the Reagl ghost trap popcorn bucket over the AMC trap.

I get ya on the taser. I always feel like I need to take extra caution when closing up the arms manually 😬
@@Ghost1MoreModI updated my statement regarding your gripe with the Matty trap as well.
I hate how when resetting the wings from the taser mode you have to move quickly or I'll try to move down without both being down
