- For the 205th anniversary of the "battle of the nations" some 1500 reenact-ors gathered on the villages surroundings the city of Leipzig. Enjoy some actions views taking during the main battle on Saturday. With the Kind Regards of the 8eme de Ligne regiment (French Infantry)

It's nice to see so many people from different countries coming to Leipzig every year, just having a good time and just following the same hobby

How are the melees decided? I noticed that every time the austrians charged, they backed right off, but I couldn't tell who won the melees.
As a lover of history and particularly Napoleonic era warfare I can't tell you how much fun participating in something like this would be for me. I would definitely have to be in the Old Guard now! When I was a kid my father took me to an American Civil War reenactment with over 700 actors and CANNONS! It was truly awesome!

It was the 4th largest Battle of the 19th century. Around 600,000 people fought.
